The name of that mining area at the start of this video is "Texas Mountain" It was the LAST area where "Hydraulic Mining" was done in California. The area is Private Property and it is fenced. At the so called End of the road was the "Shooting Area" . I used to go all over this area in the 80's. That closed road is (if I remember correctly) 3N31. It splits further ahead. Off to the left (south) it goes up the mountain to the Mt Baldly resort (which is blocked by a huge tree) Continue on 3N31 it goes of to the right (North) and up the side and over the mountain. You go over the ridge and down to highway which is "Lone Pine Canyon Road. At that junction,,, One of the houses that you passed,,One of the Earp Brothers used to visit someone there. I think it was Wyatt (He used to live in Colton Calif). So, you are at lone pine cyn rd you turn left and head up hill. You are IN THE SAN ANDREAS FAULT. As you reach the top of the road, you are in Wrightwood. Head down most of the streets will bring you to the town and highway 2. If you head down (east) Lone Pine Canyon Rd You will come down to Swarthout Canyon Road (which takes you to Lost Lake and Cajon Pass (to Blue Cut) .... While you were in Lytle Creek, You passed by the Lytle Creek camp ground. there is a road that goes behind the campground (heading east) and up and over into Cajon Pass joining Swarthout Cyn Rd. Be Advised ! What I typed here was in the Middle to Late 1980's and access might be blocked or wiped away by flooding ( 2017 maybe ) Anyhow this was a long time ago, and if i had a jeep again, I would explore it again in a heartbeat !!! OH ! Thank You Thomas for your Videoes..
I was up in big bear last Sunday. Got bored and took the jeep up there. Nice little stroll. I’ve been on 3n16 several times. Infact if you stop at the visitor center they have pamphlet maps with all the numbered stops. Have you ever done burns canyon trail? It’s similar. Starts in pioneer town near 29 palms and ends up in big bear. I don’t like to go alone but I did once. Anyway just good to get out if your down for the ride to 29 palms.
@@ThomasStudios17 let me know if your interested in doing a little group run. I think we’re in the same general area. I’ve seen you around a few times. Would be fun hitting some trails.
Better watch out! They'll shiver your timbers, board your vessel, and make ya walk the plank! In all honesty though, the lake is beautiful and that is an awesome sight! Hope you catch enough for all of us viewers and thank you for sharing.
Ive never seen that side of Thomas hunting grounds. I recently added a Setpower 12v fridge and freezer but i got an ecoflow to power it with 220W solar panels when not on my jeep battery. I havent used it yet tho. Your setup looks cool and doesn't look like it takes up much space. I think my jeep has less space than your roverlander....How long will your solar setup power your fridge for?
So far the solar has kept the battery at 85% been running the fridge 24/7 so I’m thinking as long as it’s sunny my 100 watt solar panel will keep it running always. I will make another video next weekend and show the percentage of the battery and a review on this solar panel. So far I like it!
I tested the Ecoflow I have. Ran the fridge and the freezer at the same time. Lasted 27 hours just on the Ecoflow. RU-vid videos reporting over 80 hours if I run the fridge only and no freezer. I just need it to last a weekend. lol but I figure my wife may want to run a coffee maker. I like your solar because it could run while you’re making your way to camp. Do you know how many watts your fridge uses up on average? The freezer runs almost nonstop. That’s what drains it fast.
Another great video. I think the Rover is always in 4wd so you probably just switched it to 4wd low or something. Have you considered running off road tires for all these adventures ?
I liked it but too hard to edit with it.. picking the angles and adjusting the video. I ended up returning it. Great camera but not for me. I like my Dji action 4 very good camera and hasn’t overheated yet here in California
Love your channel…. I love your tour of the mountains close to the windmills… imam going for tour of the windmills on Wednesday next week.. a car guided tour… thank you for posting..❤️❤️
bro are you in mexico, lol ???????? id prefer to find a place where 4wd is a must, just enough to deter crowds like that. how does your shower work?? your shower shelter looks huge compared to mine, maybe camera angle?
how many plies are those tires? i dont think those are made for the abuses of off pavement, i could see some chunking on it. I also keep a garmin inreach on me at all times so you can text someone when out of cell reception.
Yo dog i spent a few years living in my car. The car itself is already climate controled and insulated. Ditch the rooftop tent for rooftop storage and put your bed inside the car.
@32:03 that's the remnants of the original she tree further up the road that somebody set on fire, I hung many shoes their many of times, next time bring zip ties for the shoes, and I learned long ago never never go camping on holidays.
Thanks for watching I need to get back to Azusa love filming out there the spot is actually in banning I don’t remember the exit but it’s close to sunset exit off the 10 freeway only been there 1 time I’ll try and get back there to find a better exit to take
Just another reason why I won't put a RTT on my vehicle. Seems like every group trip I go on, someone has an issue with their RTT. Either brackets coming loose and tent sliding, brackets breaking, roof rack separating from car top, etc. I never felt threatened or concerned out in the back country camping by myself. In the city different story.
To everyone using rooftop tents. After one season .the factory roof rack was destroyed. I installed mine with unistrut and will continue to use that now only. Mine was almost ready to fall off too. You need custom work to install most of them. Not a factory roof rack. They suck.
Someone obviously been fooling with the wires, the correct position is where the wires flow from the compressor, under frame and up through the lid inside the vehicle to the center console. Great find. Good job
You're an a-hole for telling people come here. You're the kind of person that makes lifeguard's lives very difficult. Because of people like you they have to spend all of their time chasing instagrammers that don't understand tides and swell off of the rocks instead of protecting swimmers. And stop bothering the sea life in the tide pools.
haven't really spent that much...but looking at the new toyota 4 runners or land cruisers...i want something that will last forever...lol sure love the rovers though. My Hobby hehe
@@ThomasStudios17 I started my hobby with an 88 Suzuki samurai 😮 but it left me several times with mechanical issues fortunately nowhere tht a tow truck couldnt have gotten to but imagine miles into a trail would have cost a fortune. So far my 2016 has been zero issues🤞🏼I too wanted a forerunner for the Toyota reliability. I’m glad I didn’t go that route. These jeeps are amazing. Keeping the 4 wheels on the ground (by flexing) for traction is the key, the jeep does it with ease, the forerunner is stiff and does not provide tht nor do most other 4wheel drive vehicles. I like the looks of the rover tho. Btw seen u in Redlands while back. Rover lookin good!!👍🏼
@blackdiamondrob thanks I wanted a jeep for a while, but that death wobble always freaks me out. I think I would go with a bronco once this rover completely dies, but love the reliability of Toyotas.
