I'm glad to see that you are still at it. I broke something under the FJ. I think it is the front axle U joint. She needs some love so I took her off the road for a bit. I need to do all the bushings in front, steering rack, and frame rust repair. I wish I recoated the frame years ago to save myself some work. When she's back on the road I might have to hit you up so I can go out on one of these trips with you.
My Tacos much newer (2015) then your fj and hasn’t been a daily driver since 2020. I don’t have people to wheel with anymore so the company would be nice lol. I didn’t record any of it but I did spend the beginning of the day winching up a comp course hill section for over an hour thinking I could do it but quickly found out I wasn’t built enough and dragged myself to the top having to reset the winch multiple times and use a snatch block to increase pulling power because the winch was maxed out at one point and struggling to drag me off a rock under my rear diff.
This gentleman was in the right place at the right time, a local was in his pickup truck bed struggling and was about to go home to make the stick longer. The big old armored vehicle gave the high needed to get the job done!
That road and the connecting SIE are a hot mess. Too many people needing to go too damn fast. Last week I ran over a damn shovel at the foot of the Verrazano and got a nice ding from it
Poor Suspension. Thats why people trade cars when they hear something in the suspension. They dont wanna put money on it. This car should be handle with care.
Surprised at how few off roaders actually know how to air-down! I can tell that these rigs are running way tires that are not "soft" enough. Just an observation....

That swamp crossing was crazzzzzy dude it looked like you where floating for a minute there lol. I love the vids man the trails are sweet here in New England especially southern Vermont. I’m from Cheshire ma I love heading up that way.
