This is a video series of what I'm up to working on my cars or things that I'm interested in.So its not a how-to site on how to do something. Its mostly for keeping my friends and family informed of what I'm up to.But everybody is more than welcome to subscribe and keep up with me on what I'm doing.
The DG silencers are horrible for performance, I raced a rode a 82 RM465 from 2009-2013- once I replaced the DG silencer with a stock length aftermarket- wow what a difference in mid-top end!
I had a Yamaha IT 465 and theres no way on earth i could use my hand to turn the engine over. If it backfired it could break your leg.I’m thinking your ideal compression is around 140-160 psi…Also a great technique i learned on starting big bore bikes…..and any two stroke bikes in fact…..turn on the gas and choke….lean the bike over till the fuel comes out if the overflow… stand the bike back up, kick slowly to compression just past top dead centre or until the compression stroke eases slightly…and THEN, give it the beans…..it always seems to work and looks pretty cool too. Good luck 🤞🏼🏁
Beautiful build. Who did you buy the tank decals through? I have a 1982 rm80 and rm125. I’m looking for better than what I have. Bought thru eBay. Seller in Australia. Not the greatest. They are bubbling. Thanks 🙏
I've bought very few new parts yet. I have some old catalogs from about 10 years ago and they made alot of interior parts, but lately I don't see much available for interior. They do make some sheet metal parts for them now only because they are the same for a fairlane
Looks great! You're doing some nice work! Cool to see other people rebuilding the oldies Nice KDX too, had a 200 and 220, loved them both, but had to sell them.
I'm not criticizing your video bro, but you gotta look at. The fact that in many cases, most of the things that 4 engineers came up with was to make it better so so please stop criticizing everything that you see has a change for the worst. Because you don't really kfor you and for anyone that's watching that could be it. A change for the worst? What I've seen so far. It looks like they're trying to make it more efficient, so so let them show you what they have done and then make the corrections that you see, that need to be changed. That's how essenger has made. Its money is by making things different and making them better performance minded. What you're showing is doing nothing but criticizing. Everything that has been done to make those engines better. What a world of difference between me, old 2.3 Lima and a new 2.3 Lima with a dual spark plugs per cylinder that made a world of difference in that engine, so you should be looking towards what? Else can they do, but we see it today. A 2.3 l is based off of 350 horsepower plus So please stop criticizing me engine. Start looking for the good things about it. Because obviously it's a good engine because it's been used in trip. Le track racing for the last 40 years. It's not a dumb dumb engine. You just have to be smarter than it
I agree with you that the engineers are trying to make it better, but as a hot rodder it makes things difficult at times with changing this . Obviously you didn't see my other videos I've with a 2.3l turbo 1963 falcon,I love these little motors. I also have an 1986 svo mustang
6:53 The eternal struggle of a Ford Fan like myself. It's a true love/hate relationship with their engineers. Some stuff is cleverly designed and ingenious, some stuff just feels like the engineers were betting each other how convoluted they could make a part!
I do know a guy who welds aluminum... He hasn't been cheap lately. I have some parts that I have to make yet that could go with it to lighten the cost if you are not in a hurry.
Hello dave, That rm looks fantastic,i thought about getting some of them gpi radiators as mine are a little beat up.....they do look the part, cant wait to see it finished👍👍
I hate seeing Chinese parts going on a Japanese bike but you gotta do what you gotta do. Your doing Gods work saving those bikes. I'm working on my 91 trek mountain bike while watching this. I just think of some 20 year old kid riding it in 20 years from now.
Hello dave, This is gona look sweet, youve got some nice parts to go on her........that chinese kick start looks just the job dave,i need one for my 89 rm 125, do you have a link as to where i can find one? Thanks again dave Rick👍
Problem with engineers is....they are smart......but common sense is lacking sometimes. Ike no practical experience of working on anything they decide to design.. Almost as if they have a built in ftm part of their brain.
For a lot less fuss could have just bought a hogged out factory upper and knife edged lower EFI manifold from a couple web vendors, and an adapter to use a SN95 5.0 60mm or larger throttle body.
I could of gone that route,as I have all of that"extra intakes and a 65mm throttlebody and adapter "but I already had alot time porting the lower and preferred to have straight fuelinjectors so it would be easier to make a better fuel log, plus I like making stuff
