Paid DLC is the preferred method of continuation for me. It allows them to monetize it, and I still get more content. This is not a new trend. Expansions to existing games have existed for a long time.
I love this game and I would spend money on characters if they really needed a sustainable cash flow. I would do this because of how much depth and personality goes into making the character tbh.
don't think there needs to be an aggressive gacha system, but I'd be happy if they added random skin packs in the game, where you could get rolls by completing missions to build your character and also by spending real money. I think this would be the way to keep the game alive, healthier, less predatory, and it would give people something that was the main criticism besides the basic story: the censorship they did on Granblue Fantasy characters, which already had their models and were changed.
I mean hear me out how about we make a game and sell it that’s it I love extra support for a game but I don’t need that to enjoy a product or project especially with a game that’s already 100 something hours in content
i enjoy this game but the endgame is basically "do the same 1-3 quests until the end of time" id still recommend the game because the building aspects of gear are fun, i think damage builds are overhyped, the completion of quests dont change much at all when im in offline mode with my main being dps vs a well rounded tanky dps type since my supports wreck regardless, if i had any suggestions for someone playing its build for quality of life/what you enjoy, its easy to get sucked into the whole dps thing with youtube videos and like i said it doesnt even save much time if your supports are geared right, maybe saves like 60 seconds on a 10 min quest but you give up all the easy mode aspects cause you just keep getting one shot over and over
Honestly, I wholeheartly disagree with the notion that Granblue Fantasy should be updated to no end, specially if they inteoduced any form of monetization into the game just to keep it alive. To me, they should release a massive paid DLC with new characters, new story quests for all the characters, wrap up the game and move to a new peoject. I really think that this "gacha mentality" would ruin a great game. People need to learn to accept that some games are good because they have a beginning, a middle and an end. Also, the games with gacha monetization systems are starting to get packed with competitions, and sooner or later, people will burnout from all of them. I hope Granblue Fantasy as a franchise don't go this route.
they have such a huge character roster, just start releasing them in patches with an extra quest or two i'd be fine with that, i love this game so much
For me the main problem is... if they released playable Belial I would buy the game and all available DLC to support them.... but if they don't.... the current cast just doesn't interest me enough to buy the game in the first place, so the very real potential of there not being frequent character releases... I doubt I will get into it at this point.
I think it's kind of funny that Relink is build for a live service model but they somehow decided to just not make it a live service titel. I genuinely believe they could of 10x their revenue from this game if they made it live service they could milk the playerbase for characters items etc
I don't doubt that this idea must have crossed the executive boardroom at some point. I think it really comes down to effort vs. revenue. To be competitive with other ongoing games, they probably need to have a 5 to 6 week update cycle. It really comes down to whether they feel motivated to train and recruit enough people to create a dev team capable of keeping up with that update cycle. The problem is that their loyal Japanese Cygames fanbase are still paying for their lower effort PNG sprite games with decent income, so they see no point in changing their approach.
I expected it to end much sooner. Tbh. I wish they didn't make the game as grindy as it is. It's not a live service so I have no reason to really pour in that much time into it. I only played Lucilius quest a couple of times and called it a day. At the end of day, it was still a really good game. I guess one can hope that maybe they would do a proper live service version.
If they add a new combat system like mhw iceborne, like new/old character has Alot more skills and mechanics, more maps, more character like not just 1 - 2 every update like straight up 10 new character, more bosses and better story campaign (The story at the start was kinda meh, but it gets way better at the epilogue) Alot of people would totally buy that DLC (at a reasonable price ofc) because the game is actually good
fr, if they actually make a DLC on the same quality level as monster hunter stuff, I wouldn't even mind paying up to $30 or $40 if that kind of content exists.
They probably don't want to go down the live service route, so they are stopping while ahead. Even though the game has more than enough source material, which is honestly smart on them. Remember that Monster hunter didn't become as big as it did by going live service (even though they tried, it wasn't good enough to come to the west). They made each game a timeless experience and tbh that's what cygames is good at.
I absolutely love relink, and wish more games were still made this way today. Reminds me of the holdenage of gaming. My dream come true is if we could get a new konosuba game like it lol.
lol, the problem is that konosuba earns easy money by lending out their license to low effort PNG sprite games. The owners of that IP will never have enough ambition to pull off something like this.
i think it make sense, the game module similar to MHWorld tho. It not like gacha that we got update every single month or two. Even mhw got icebourne update after long time. Or maybe just make the game cheaper so more player will play it because TONS of people want to play but cant afford the game. Palworld really2 good example, affordable so tons people buy it.
There are some ideas i would recommend. 1. Get the Church of Avia characters playable, since we already got Id. 2. Make Lilith an actual boss, i was disappointed that we had a scripted fight where we didnt see what she would really do. the small interaction in the fight was so cool. 3. Make all the cool and unique boss a higher difficulty with the same power requirment, i love fighting Maglielle but i beat her in a minute even on Proud. 4. Maybe add some more costumes, i notice that the fighting game got new costumes (Zeta) and the fanbase made so many juicy memes of her new look. 5. Add another difficulty level for the campaign. I tried ultimate at end game and it still ends shortly. 6. More flashback bosses (?) Lucilus was so god damn good. A brand new and unique boss battle alone re-added life to the game after people 100% grind on it before the DLC update. The game clearly has alot of lore if you played previous titles, so its not like they are out of source material.
It sounds like a game like this is above all a loss-leader (if not actual 'loss', then opportunity cost) to grow interest in the gacha game in the West. There's little reason for a game like this to appeal to developers when gacha are so much more profitable.
This. Remember how the previous two attempts to make spinoffs of gacha games turned out, Azur Lane Crosswave and Seven Knights: Time Wanderer, alongside how Puzzle & Dragons Gold just looked awful. I doubt we'll see any other gacha dev interested in making a paid spinoff of a gacha game anytime soon after Relink (or ever), as there isn't the financial sense from both developers & players and most players don't want offline versions of gacha games. In fact, had Relink been a publisher-owned IP where the publisher owns the IP and not the devs, the publisher would've most likely chosen to cancel it altogether and the plot of Relink would've been relegated to the original mobile game instead. I think gacha devs are more likely to make paid original IPs than spinoffs of gacha games.
The problem with this game is that it's too much grinding. The game has no way of taking a break from grinding. The has no exploration, not only that but the game's areas are extremely small, linear and extremely small. Even the story was lame. Outside of decent combat the game ia boring.
Cygames would be stupid to keep updating a PS4 game. Relink 2 is probably in the works hopefully with gacha and better systems because they went overboard simplifying Relink. Autopilot controls are already enough for webgame fans. Combos are insultingly shallow and skills need to be integrated more fluidly so that it doesn't just feel like you're waiting for 4 cooldowns to do anything. And for the love of god listen to fans for character releases because nobody cares about the base story or roster Relink got panned in all reviews over it. Link Time and Skybound Arts are terrible in their current form.
