Excellent parks and new greenway under 77 off exit 23. Tons of excellent churches, of course the weather (not mentioned), lower taxes, and high paying jobs are just a few others. We've been here 10 years and love it! Traffic can be bad at times but welcome to a growing city.
I’ve heard west row is the cool “downtown” area with the walkable dining and shops and the urban farm and I’m so glad that’s the first part that will be completed and it will be completed very soon
We moved to Fort Mill 18 years ago. We’ve seen the negatives that are outlined in this video. A lot has changed over the years, but the positives far outweigh the negatives and it is an amazing place to call home.
The River District looks good in theory, but the traffic will be horrible on I-485, I-85, West Blvd etc. With only the first phase getting underway, I would never buy in a first phase planned community, yes maybe you will build equity, but getting to a grocery store will be a nightmare, just get in your car and drive around the area during the 3 hour long morning and evening commute, and do it on a Friday. Check out the Charlotte Douglas Destination Plan, a massive Development along Wilkinson Blvd. The River District residents better get use to Airport, planes landing and taking off, CLT is the 6th largest Airport in the Country and getting bigger, there is also a massive railroad line that runs adjacent to CLT, and you will see for the foreseeable future the Duke Energy steam stack in the back ground. Who owns all the adjacent land and how is it zoned, this community is very dense, there are some very good home builders on board who build great houses, so don’t expect a bargain here, and the entire River District will have a community HOA, so factor that in your budget and lifestyle. I can tell you that HOA’s never go down, always up. That is my take on this Community, sounds wonderful, but will it bring the quality of life your looking for. My main problem with this Development is that the Traffic will be a nightmare, I live in Gaston County in Belmont, believe me, you need to come over and listen to the air traffic, you do get use to it, but if you buy a house in The River District, make sure you spend the money on double glazed noise canceling windows. I understand that the business district will back up to I-485, but careful don’t buy or rent anything near the interstate, that noise never stops. Do your homework.

The River District on paper and in the rendering’s looks interesting, but, it will back up to I-485, the traffic will be a mess. No Grocery Store has committed to the project, so the first phase residents may have to drive miles to buy Grocery’s it will take a couple of decades to complete, and in my opinion it is going to be to dense, to many apts. If the City doesn’t make the surrounding land a nature preserve so it does not sprawl out of control like Ballantyne, I personally would not want to live that close to The Airport, look at the expansion along Wilkinson Blvd that Charlotte Douglas is planning, a convention hotel, retail, offices all along an already congested Wilkinson Blvd. The Airport has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the new re-Development and it is already absolute. Don’t believe me try picking up or dropping someone off on any long Holiday Weekend, much less the Holidays. The River District when complete will add a community of at least 20,000 people, the roads and interstate’s the traffic will be a mess, the City of Charlotte must find the funds to build light rail and additional roads and perhaps a new freeway to Uptown. Like the Georgia 400. Looks great in theory, but once this River District is complete unless you live and work there, or are retired. Plan on a long commute to your job. I have lived in Charlotte for over 30 years, and at some point the City has to stop the development until mass transit can be addressed. Cheers
Charlotte is becoming a real city the few haters are the ones that wanted it to be a confederate city, almost extinguished, you know who I’m talking about.
To give you some perspective im from Matthews. How do you differentiate a good neighborhood from an expensive neighborhood? I mean, even before the pandemic you needed deep pockets for these places. Lmk

you are 100 % correct i live in Huntersville and homes are still expensive but is hard to sell when you have interest rate under 3% and purchase the house before the covid .Love Huntersville great place and still developing
Away from the coast is best ... the closer you get to the coast the more issues you have with flooding and hurricanes. We're here in CLT and are very insulated from much of that :)
Why isnt Robbins Park ever mention in all the Huntersville or birkdale videos I ever see? I know it technically in Cornelius, but it's 30 seconds from birkdale. lol
