World's strongest plasterboard now goes to the Bullfix Extra plasterboard fixing

Bullfix v Geefix Plasterboard fixings

Ultimate handyman did a video of a shelve using four fixings for Geefix. He then did the exact same test using Bullfix Extra plasterboard fixings. Bullfix plasterboard beat Geefix by around 18 kg in a real application yet are much smaller, easier to install and less than half the price . So Bullfix plasterboard fixings are the strongest plasterboard fixing on the market in real life applications.

Bullfix Extra Plasterboard Fixings =143kg

Well no geefix says only suitable for min of 30mm cavity so you can turn it to fix it. Geefix are brilliant 4" to sport and hold 111kg, there enough videos of people hanging off them

They work on dot and dab on the cavity, but what about if you hit the glue?
@markhowe5539

You always drill a small pilot hole first 3mm diameter, after using a wire and pipe detector. Then if the drill seems to plunge deeper with no resistance after going through the plasterboard , so revealing a cavity. If its solid with adhesive there then you will encounter resistance the full depth of the drill bit. If that's the case, you can then drill put using an 8mm -10mm masonry bit and use a standard rawlplug into the masonry At the rear of the adhesive. Hope this helps . Mark @ bullfix.co.uk

Hi, would these bullfix fixings work where the screw isn’t going to be screwed in tight / flush to the wall? I’m looking for something that will work in plasterboard to fix a small shelf that has keyhole brackets so the screw head needs to be left sticking out of the wall a little bit for the bracket. I tried a snap toggle before realising that it doesn’t work because with those the screw needs to screw all the way in to ensure that the metal toggle at the back tightens up to keep the fixing and screw secure. So by not tightening it all the way in the screw was just wobbling about and not secure at all with the snap toggle! :-( wrong fixing for the job! So I now have two 13 mm holes in my wall (or will have once I get the snap toggle fixings out!) so thinking these could still be used in the same place as they use a 20mm hole?! Grateful for any advice! Thanks

Hi Linda- I know exactly what you mean. Yes you can use Bullfix for this application. If you need to open up the holes you have already drilled, you would find this difficult, as the hole saw or spade bit( we supply with the starter pack) need a centre-hole in order to guide through accurately. To get round this problem, I would first obtain a piece of thin plywood , floor board and using a hole saw, cut the 20mm hole first in this wood. Then using this as a template and aligning the 20mm hole in the timber over the already created smaller hole in the plasterboard, use a 20mm hole saw using the wood as a guide to open up the holes. This is how the pros do it. So if its going in a new place, then you would need a drill, screwdriver and our Bullfix Starter Packs. Our fixings cannot fall through the wall and will hold protruding like you wish. Our screws come with the fixings. but if you were using the Bullfix universal you would need longer screws( luckily Bullfix fixings take any No 10 or 5.00mm diameter Screw so adjust accordingly. you need a tapered countersunk screw for your keyholes. Adjust and keep trying the shelving system keyhole until it feels tight when you push it down into the key slot. Then do the same for the other keyholes. Hope this helps. email me at bullfix.co.uk if you wish to know more.

Does this work with any depth of the wall?

the plasterboard is usually 12.5mm to 15mm in the UK plus a thin skim of plaster. So Bullfix work with board from 12.5mm to 17mm. The Bullfix universal will crawl into gaps as small as 7mm. The masonry wall behind has no relevance to the fixing.

Hi, i'm looking at hanging several TV's at work with these fixings in a newly dot and dabbed office room, and a set of shelving at home. I've seen a lot of reviews on this type with other types getting a mention but this one pips the rest with such a small cavity requirement. I hope it proves to do exactly what it says it will :-)

Hi Craig.. Just a tip, when drilling use a 2 mm drill first to make sure you don't hit a dab of plaster, you will feel the drill resist if you do, if the drillbit suddenly goes deeper, you have hit the cavity as you go through the plasterboard. If there is a dab, use a normal fixing and drill through to the masonry. If there is a cavityz then proceed to use the 20mm spadebit that comes with the starter pack and open up the 2mm hole to a 20mm hole. Remember to apply light pressure as you go through the plasterboard as heavy force will blow the back of the Plasterboard. Hope this helps. Show us a video of the installations using our fixings and I will send out some free fixings for you ! Enjoy using them .. Mark

Hello Mark, Presumably you are the inventor behind these fixings? We wanted to hang a 43" QLED TV on a stud partition wall and deliberated long and hard as to (A) Was it possible without causing the TV to fall off the wall and in so doing cause several big holes and (B) Which of the many suitable fixings to use. After reading many positive reviews and watching your various You Tube videos we went with 'Bullfix'. Much to our relief, the TV mount is rock solid and all our fears have been allayed. Many thanks for a great product which I shall definitely recommend to family and friends.

These look great for most options mentioned with the exception of a small gap such as dot and dab (19mm to say 30mm). Instead of back to back wallplugs I'd say that something like corefix would be best in that situation? That way it goes into the brick or thermite brick as well as having a metal core between gap and plasterboard. Into brick is always going to be better than relying purely on the plasterboard itself, no matter what fixing is used (especially if you don't know they condition of it). For most other situations these look great, though I do like geefix for heavy duty stuff with a large void between plasterboard and brick/whatever.

On the contrary actually, Bullfix Universal can crawl into a space as small as 7mm on dot and dab walls. Bullfix Extra (25% stronger)with a larger wing spread of around 80mm only needs 19mm. Problem is with corefix it goes into a wall at the back that you cannot always see what its made off. It could be poor masonry , you cannot guarantee the masonry at the back in every situation. Is it brick, concrete blocks or breeze blocks. It may interest you to know that using Corefix uses a short hollow core and if protruding around 30mm from the wall and going into breeze block would be weaker that a Bullfix Extra on shear loads! The metal core on Corefix are not that long and will easily blow breeze block masonry at the back on a shear load if the cavity is wide, say around 25mm plus 13.5mm plasterboard and skim. Check their adverts and the cross sectional pictures and their own load claims. Corefix are good in ideal situations, small cavity , good masonry behind but you have to be privileged to this information , not everyone knows whats behind a dot and dab wall! As for Geefix, gee its big, 25mm hole and needs a lot of space behind the plasterboard in order to install it. We made a Bullfix fixing that would use a 25mm hole so scaled up to Geefix size, ours was twice the strength, but pointless as plasterboard only has a limited drop off point on its strength anyway( plasterboard fails before the fixing). So totally unnecessary so we never marketed it. Its probably why Bullfix is the best selling plasterboard fixing on Amazon !

Why would you use a plasterboard fixing when you can fix into the block work behind using a couple of plugs run back to back and a big screw? Your criticism of plasterboard fixings not working in dot and dab is irrelevant as that isn't their intention. Your product looks decent but I see it a plasterboard fixing and not a dot and dab solution.
@markhowe5539
@markhowe5539 2 года назад
Firstly the point is you never know what is behind a plasterboard wall, it's plastered, it could be anything as shown in the video. With Bullfix Universal Plasterboard fixings in your kit you would get a fixing in dot and dab, in stud walls, in insulation backed plasterboard , in battened our walls with a small cavity. Hence Bullfix Plasterboard fixings are super flexible for unknowns compared to standard fixings for plasterboard walls. if you attempt to using back to back plugs then you have not got a strong fixing to put it simply. If you do the cantilever testing on back to back plugs and a screw you will find that it's actually incredibly weak. You may be able to hang a picture at best, anything else and you are taking a massive risk on something very unreliable . I suggest you take a look at our loading videos at our website and how incredible Bullfix Universal Fixings are compared to other fixings and methods. At the Construction Week UK we had people trying to pull our universal fixings out of plasterboard( same one used in dot and dab) . Not one person could pull it out . So the fact is we have demonstrated our product at a international show and have load testing videos of our product as opposed to your opinion would suggest that is why an intelligent person would use Bullfix universal plasterboard fixings instead of your suggestion. Check out Facebook page .

Pretty clueless about fixings and just used some that came with a set of screws from Ikea to put up a coat rack - lasted for about a year until it ripped off the wall! Figured that I needed to get fixings suited to plasterboard and was about to get some generic ones off Amazon, but in the checkout menu one of the 'Sponsored products' was bullfix, with big red letters saying 'the ultimate plasterboard fixing'! Decided to give it a quick google and found these videos; cheers Mark for showing the different fixtures and even cavities; was never explained to me before.. Bought a starter pack and I'm confident I'll be able to keep that damn coat rack on the wall this time!
