I saw a dragging chain on a consist at my usual haunt one morning and it seemed dangerous so I called the bat phone and they told the crew to stop and check. The UP dispatcher referred to me as a foamer over the radio, which wasn't really necessary in my opinion..
UP, like other major railroads, have many idle locomotives. Some are in storage, for use when needed,some waiting to be scrapped and some to be rebuilt. These locomotives aren't at one location, but scattered around.
Was't expecting a jumpscare in a railfan video. 🤣 Couple of photography tips. If you shoot the sunny side of the train, the pictures look better, and you have the chance of standing in the shade -- win-win. Also, you see how the containers in the stack train look like they're tapering, as if you're looking up at a tall building? That's because you have the camera low and angled upwards. If you hold it higher and level, everything will look square, as it should.
@beeble2003 I know a lot of the video I am sitting down i do not get around good, and i was trying to stay away from the crossing bell. That is why I'm on that side. Never know what you will see railfanning. Thank you for watching
Thanks for the vid. That stretch in particular I think is really nice and you folks sure got a nice day. Love the icon pic including the huge old cement plant pier. The city of Bellingham is rehabbing it and is supposed to open to pedestrian traffic in 2025 sometime.
