tbh the illustrations are really great, you have such a cute artsyle, but i can not understand every other word you say (i am not familiar with these greek names so that doenst help too). Im not telling you to change the way you speak but maybe add subtitles to be more understandable? Because auto-generated subtitles are a little confused like i am.
Hi Thank you so much for the feedback!! I think it got better in the newer videos hopefully, with a new microphone and a drawing of all the characters prior to the story with the names in. Proper subtitles take too long and my videos already take more than a month to make. I am really hoping my accent is not as bad as not to be understandable, but its something i'll have a look at in the future!
Wait, Hyacinthus was killed by Zephyrus, who I think was the god of wind. He was jealous that Hyacinthus chose Apollo and did the whole "if I can't have him no one can" thing. So, when Apollo threw the disk, Zephyr blew it in Hyacinthus's direction and bonked him on the head with it so hard it killed him.
Love it🐝 Again good spirits were made into bad guys... oh, common people! But maybe people then truly perceived those natural spirits as evil at some point. If people start to abuse nature and cut forests, spirits would not be kind to towny folk for obvious reasons. Like wolves from Wolfwalkers movie (but even there the problems started by psychopath with bible, lol) Tolkien differently was inspired by this! Krakonoš looks exactly like Tom Bombadil from books, and Gandalf is a bit more greyish and sad version of him. P.S. Czech sounds like soft salty cookies to me, tasty 🍪And again - fantastic characters! Now I want horns and šiška for nose!
Yeah, I feel like making previous beliefs into demons is a commom thing for religions that tool over over sadly :') And for Slavic one we weren't that lucky (like Norse) for someone to write it down beforehand, so we can only guess now haha And right! Tom Bombadil! It's possible? I only read the articles that mention gandalf, but the more detailed ones were in Polish and i couldnt make more info out haha And haha thank you! Czech does sound like that :D and everybody should have a šiška for a nose!
I can imagine Tolkien being inspired by Krakanos, and then Czech storytellers took some inspiration from Tolkien. When making movies, they could come back to the Czech reimagined origins and it became like a cycle of imagination. And who knows? Maybe next part will be inspired by this video? 😶🌫I like that old myths continue to evolve with us and because no one wrote them down, there's plenty of room for new perspectives🦄
I was researching Slavic paganism and found this. WOW, this is really great. I absolutely love the illustrations - you've truly brought them to life and embodied the spirit of the characters. Great work! The fluffy Czert/Chert is so cute that Disney or Nickelodeon should give you the resources to transform this into a full-scale animated movie. I'm not joking; you are a great artist! And I really like your storyline. I was researching Slavic mythology because I didn’t like the widespread idea of "good vs bad" with Veles, Chernobog, Morgana, and other "dark and mysterious" beings of Slavic mythology. We know that tribes celebrated the cycle of birth and death, respecting all seasons and life's balance. So where did "evil" come from? You shown it very clear how Christianity influenced myths in order to convert people. And I totally agree with your idea that Czerts are good folk, in the sense that they mean no harm. Czert is like a child spirit - mischievous, but not bad, definitely not evil. They are content with what is and love a little bit of drama. And who doesn’t? Love your art, let it flow :)
This comment makes me so happy, thank you so much!! <3 I did my best to talk about the fact that there is no good and evil amd I totally agree with you on that one. You can see it in multiple world mythologies as well, god of death and chaos are usually a necessary force in the world, not evil that needs to be defeated. Again thank you, your comment made my day and I will definitely keep on drawing (:
The little Jackal pendant the reborn (now crown prince) child Bata wore was cute. Definetly a nice retelling of this myth, and agree with the background caption of "Definition of a Long-Term plan." Which upon thinking about it, can be thematic as Anubis experienced first hand the tragic consequences of a reactionary approach. Really liked the video and your art in it. And If I may be allowed to ramble, Anubis' name, Anpu (or one of many transliterated names. I mean seriously, they all have lists.) apparently meant "Royal Child". But also had the root term for "decay" in it. So he's the "Prince of Decay" which is just a METAL a title to have. Though given his duties with mummification, I once read someone say his name could also mean "To purify" and thus I thought the idea of him being, "The prince who purifies decay" Sorry for the tangent, but love to talk about my favorite deity. Have a good day.
Prince of decay is an amazing title wow and should be used more often, that is so neat! (: Loved these, Anubis is an amazing deity And thank you for the compliments! <3
Im actually teaching this myth to my students and your videos are a great help!! The art is super cute and makes certain parts of the epic really easy to understand. Really hope you get more views and attention, it’s clear you put a lot of time and love into your work, thank you so much for it ❤
