Now I understand what you meant when you said, "Let the song create itself."
How to you go PAST channel 32 to channel 33 and beyond? I have multiple fixtures of different types that I want to run on this exact board and I need more than 32 channels.

1:56 are you sure you don’t mean fader? The switch would mean ‘fixture 5.’ I think Chauvet is confusing. DMX controllers generally are, but Chauvet is worse. And they don’t help with their (lack of) instructions
Almost organized. Are these color values? Tilt values? Pan values? If you make a video, you might mention the first device you touch…in the dark. Can we talk about what your lighting device is meant to do?
@0:53 Green Springs!!! We used to jump off the Eagles Nest!!!! I lived in the Laughinghouse Trailer park in the 70's and 80's .. Come to find out old man Laughinghouse named a street over there after his granddaughter who was my childhood crush Allison.... LOL She lived on Howell though... Those were the days... We played at the airfield and rode the train across the river to the Palace and swam all day at Green Springs... Mr. George would give us poor kids orange Crush out of the old bottle machine that would shock you if you were wet. The Pepsi building was still standing over by Union Point... All of us kids were under 10.. There was a convient store where SDA Church is now and across the street was an old 1800's saw mill steel "teepee" we loved playing in... It was full of sawdust.. Obey 70 Workaround to control up to 24 fixtures... Easy,,,, manual says to assign fixture 1 to channel 1 and fixture 2 to channel 33. Because each fixture can use 32 channels. I have 28 fixtures and pairing was just not working out. A very helpful guy from Chauvet explained this.... Use page B to add 12 more fixtures... Set fixture 1 to 1, 2 to 17, 3 to 33, 4 to 50 and so on. Now you can control fixture 1 on Page A #1 and fixture 2 on Page B #1. All your doing is splitting the 32 channels available per fixture to 16. First 16 on Page A and next 16 on Page B. I set up 12 lights on the back wall of the stage to Page A in the normal 1=1, 2=33 and so on settings. For the front of stage lighting I set that up on Page B... Fixture 13 to channel 17 and fixture 14 to channel 50 and so on. The only limitation is now each fixture is limited to 16 channels. Since most fixtures only use 6-8 channels there is no difference. But I have one fixture that uses 24 channels. !! Easy, put it last in the group and leave the full 32 channels available. I found this info to be extremely helpful as my search for a 24 fixture controller ended with nothing affordable. I would assume this technique could be used on the Obey 40 as well, or any other controller with a Page B option. Hope this helps somebody as it helped me. Chauvet was extremely helpful so if needed don't hesitate to call them.
I may have to. And there has got to be a better way to organize DMX lighting. There may be so many things intuitively wrong with the system that there is no hope. Shame on USITT! I assume you are talking about using basic mode instead of advanced to get more fixtures controlled. Assuming I can eventually understand all of this, the thought of teaching it to someone else is abhorrent.
I love your tutorial on the Obey 70. Any chance you can do a part 3. Add some music to the light. I want to see how the recorded scenes play with music. I'm new to DMX. Just got my controller last night. Hope you have some free time to help me out. Thank you for your time Your new subscriber
Thanks Cole! This was extremely helpful but I do have a question. My question Is can you set a specific color to a scene? Also, what does the little joystick do?
+Jesus Sifuentes I apologize for not doing more tutorials. Right now, my system has a short in the connector piece. And I haven't even touched this system since I made these tutorials. You should however, be able to connect it and assign it on a channel.
I am helping a friend out with her lighting. I have two intimidator spot 100 IRC which can do tilt and pan. My question is can I use the joystick and program it so that I can operate the tilt and pan using the joystick?
+Charlie Hall Sorry, but I have a short in my system and shortly after this video was made I have only had it sitting on a shelf and have not had any time to get back using it again.
1. Press Program and Tap Sync/Display (This will enter the physical fader assignment mode) 2. Select one of the fixtures (Fixture 1 - 12) (This will be the fixture that you want to modify the channels for) 3. Move the Speed fader to select the pan control (Slider 1/1) 4. Move The fade time - fader to select the DMX channel to assign it to. 5. Press MIDI/ADd to save the setting 6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for the tilt (Slider 1/2) 7. Press Program and Tap Sync/Display two times to exit physical fader assignment mode.
Thanks for the tutorials. I just ordered the obey 70 and it should arrive tomorrow, thanks to you, I feel I am ready to program some scenes before my gig in a few days. Don't know if I misunderstood your statement below, but here is a link to the instruction manual. Thanks again! :-) www.chauvetlighting.com/products/manuals/Obey-70_Rev5_UM_ML_WO.pdf
I hope you don't have any issues with the programming. I feel as though I am somewhat limited with the 5.1 Global Hemisphere but it still is so much fun. Be sure to spend time with the programming board and lighting BEFORE you go the the gig but I just can't wait to see what you do with this thing!
Only a few days left. Join on facebook and I will add you as a friend but this must be done before Michael's Birthday because the contest will end at midnight!! Don't miss out
I do not consider myself as one would think of as being a professional dancer. I've recently done 8 shows with literally no rehearsals because I do work a full time job besides doing what I do. Officially, I have been choreographing for the past 5 years and I really love doing that more than anything although I do love doing live shows! The challenge is that on top of doing all of the choreography, etc. it is very difficult to get the quality of rehearsal time that is required. As far as what one would consider a normal life....I do not have any of that. On my off days I work mostly 14 to 18 hours on choreography, vocals, etc. There is absolutely no time for television or for doing activities that people get to do. Laying down and relaxing is not one of those things. I give up sleep and literally everything. It has become a lifestyle which I love and enjoy. In order to get to that level you have to be completely committed and it's not something like a hobby or a casual lifestyle as far as doing it whenever you feel or want to do it. Also, when you go in public you will give up your normal lifestyle. You can't really go to places as you once did where no one would know you....people will notice you or come up to you somewhat like a "mini" celebrity. It doesn't matter what you're wearing because somewhere out of nowhere you're minding your business and you have to remember that people will only know you for what they see on film or shows, etc. I have not spent a great deal of time dancing but only in the last week I am finding more time for working on it again full time as I was unable to have access to a gym area for almost half a year. Many times, it's a struggle to keep up with the schedule that I have but I don't stop because if I ever did it would be a considerable loss. You can keep up with me on Facebook if you want to. facebook.com/Dance4MichaelJackson
