Guilty Gear content, focusing on education and help for players of all levels. Anji Mito main for over 18 years. Speedrunner with multiple world records, most notably Castlevania: Bloodlines. Regular Guilty Gear content from the entire series.
@TheSweetSpirit one of the hazards of making a reel. You're kind of at the mercy of the broadcast mixing. There's also the fact that some clips are pre-pandemic and others post-pandemic so wearing a mask somewhat alters the sound.
Sol and axl. Mars and venus. My brother keep taking sol and hitting me with the volcanic viper. Volcanic viper cancels anything Axl has to offer. Even from a range.
Very interested in learning him. I have a question, though. This game is often praised for allowing for a lot of player expression and creativity. How much of that does Anji as a character allow?
I gotta say this is my favorite video from the fgc. Ive played strive since launch, and it was my first deep dive into fighting games. I always avoided them cuz i knew how competitive i was, but i really liked this one. I decided to try steaming it just cuz it seemed fun. About a uear later i started plateau ing and it started eating away at my mental t9 the point i almost gave up streaming entirely. After another year i realized i have been severely burned out and decided to pull back from fighting games cuz it was miserable just booting the game. Now ive been only streaming fighting games on fridays and saturdays which kind of helped. But this video really encapsulates where im at with them right now. I love fighting games but ive never been able to shake the extreme pressures i put on myself and its just ruined the fun for me. I really appreciate this video as no one for me really understood what i was going through and just really ate away at me cuz i couldnt talk about it. Even now i feel wierd typing it 😅. But thank you for this and i will be taking a break and trying to come back with a healthier mindset!
1:29:44 I feel like this is the first time I've ever actually heard someone else say this. Coming from Tekken the opposite is what most people believe to an almost dogmatic level. It's cathartic to hear someone else share this opinion
1:25:46 I think the burst part of this is a bit wrong. If Dizzy is still on the burst radius, she will get hit over any summon. If she isn't in the radius tho, the burst will just destroy the fish (the fish tanking the dead angle part is correct tho) Really informative list tho, always love the plus r comtent, and I really like the angle you took of "characters strenghts relatively to the other's" rather than a tournament view specifically or so. That speaks to me a lot more, as someone who enjoys watching the game competitively, but mostly plays it causally with pals
the way we learned that some of the things in this video are wrong and now anjis top tier is crazy. Always said people didnt see the full potential of these buffs
Great video. I'm not an Anji main, I don't even play Strive. But this kind of takes do resonate with many people, they are interesting and important, never hesitate to talk about your experience making yourself better.
I don't get this guy's logic. I know nobody high level uses install because it's shit but he's not even hit confirming into DI to give himself safety to start his pressure so he's just wasting his meter and the install on meaningless pressure with no payoff. The few times he does score a hit he can't combo because the install ends and Sol has to recover so you get free eats.
im a chipp main (formerly an anji main) and one of my friends recommended i get back into playing anji because of how passively i play chipp. this helps a lot, thank you :)
this all resonates a few years ago, maybe 4 years ago, I was putting in the work to get better in SF5. I queued for an online game and got double-perfected by a R. Mika using corner 50/50 shenanigans, and just because I chose incorrect in both rounds, I got perfected both rounds. I got so angry that I have not played an online fighting game ever since. Only now am I thinking of coming back, giving it another try, see if I can have a better mental state about it.
i feel similar about my main in strive as you describe in the beginning of this video, its hard not see a different version of the character in your heart and feel like things that are different dont feel right
I played this game 2 months but can’t get myself kept calm down from people constantly make me block a lot pressures that’d I mash to cost loss.Like when hop on online strive i pick last floor see what’s high level match’s like all to make me feel weak losing temper that I say mean things myself I suck and can’t take losing to learn.I’m happy this video it is help my influenced mental to this game take losses as study understanding keep trying not give up early. Thanks :3
Wow thank you for being vulnerable. I had a very weird relationship with xrd too I played during my highschool and college years(which were hard) and where I loved the game but had the worst character crisis to date for years. But I finally landed on bedman and have a better experience with it now. Wishing you better days and your dog good health
Regarding the "ridiculous" hairpin. Strive Millia lost her “ridiculous hairpin” and was at the bottom of the tier lists for 2-3 years from the moment of release... Millia's weaknesses must be compensated for. A character with low reward and high risk should have high potential.
If you press the respect button before selecting your character you can cycle through the Default, EX, Slash, and Reload colour schemes on the PC version. Use the dust loop wiki to look at each of them and find one you like
Only thing I pretty disagree with is Bedman. That character has too much versitility and great uses of yrc I feel to be in that tier especially behind axl
As an Axl player, playing against Anji as Axl is one of my least favorite fights. Anji feels heavily favored, and a lot of it comes from the fact he changes neutral in a way that seriously affects Axl's gameplan.
this guide/overview is really good still after all these years, but i wouldnt call johnny a rushdown character i would maybe call him a hybrid character or a pressure character but im not sure
I constantly go back and forth on whether I think Elphelt or Johnny are worse to deal with. Johnny feels like a stronger character, but with how hard he can be to use compared to elphelt I always seem to end up with more salt against elphelt.
As a new player in GG-S- and fighting games in general I can confidently say that this guide is one of the best, if not the best beginner guide I have watched for a fighting game character so far.
