It’s lost all its charm and personality, fine for a flashy living. She wouldn’t call it her house, she had substance and wasn’t boastful . This house is fine for some, it strikes me like they took the heat and soul out of it . Reminds me of new Hollywood bleached teeth, botox and fillers .
A Connecticut Yankee..the original interior was very dark and boxy and cluttered..of coarse..its a cottage..not for show..but the new look is attractive..but I must admit I liked the former hominess and the dark wood paneling and it brought back memories of my grandparents summer house..I sit at her grave often with a Starbucks and just reflect on things..yeah..i miss her.
Silly of me I know but I wish they would have turned it into a KH museum but I’m sure those wealthy people would hate having so many tourist traipsing through their paradise
I remember seeing the house in photo biography book. They took a lot of photos of her at the NYC Townhouse and Fenwick Manor. I remember how dark that house was but it had a shabby chic feel about it. I'm sure when she died everything about the house was antiquated and inefficient. It was time for a a remodel.
Today is 3/6/22. Hard to find ANY recent Princeton women's basketball video that allows comments. Coach Berube's 2 season record since arriving at Princeton is 45-5 overall, 25-0 in conference. My question.....For such an accomplished team at Princeton, why is attendance so low? For their senior day (3/4/22) against Columbia, attendance was 846 in a 6,854 capacity arena. What am I missing? Draconian covid restrictions? Princeton's superb women's team should be packing them in!!
I think the house is gorgeous but come on …if you know anything about Katharine Hepburn… She would have hated it… She would’ve hated everything about it lol
That one remained in ordinary ship to be regarded as a local titanic star to get internationally regarded, these types of lovers are married lovers in the ship, known in artificial means as Maya, can be known more about them after reading Maya Angelo's book- A women.
So true. So many commentors here seem to think it should stay at some kind of a shrine. People forget that these are all just “things,” including the house itself. Why should it stay the way these people insist. It’s not like they’ll,ever be invited. It is SO no one’s business what the new owners do.
1) Does no one care that the house and grounds are haunted? 👻 2) Some need to chill with the complaints. It's not Hepburn's house anymore. Kate was pragmatic and unsentimental. She would not care one way or the other about a total redesign. I can hear her snort-laughing and saying, "I'm dead, so, it is what it is. Who cares?" She was definitely not the type to think a house should stay a frozen tribute to a deceased actress. My problem with the reno is that it's so sterile, designed to sell. But that just means new owner is supposed to add the hygge back with his/her own character.
It's easy to see why Realtor Colette Harron is successful at the high end. She is classy without being snobbish. She has just the right balance in her personality. I could never become depressed in such a home, well lit by the outdoors.
Lmao it's 2021 and I'm watching this, saying C'mon no way has it been kept in that pristeen condition, and then heard her say it's all redone... It's absolutely beautiful What a wonderful place to live ❣ I wonder if she had a happy life there as I picture her and Spencer Tracy sitting out there sipping Martinis in the 1950s 🍸🍸🌊👀 as my Gram always said "A beautiful home doesn't mean anything, it doesn't mean those people are happy.... And so many Hollywood couple's had troubled home lives idk he just struck me as being the happy type I guess I'll watch another one of their movies tonight 📺🎬🎥
I was fond of the house as it was--in a state of relaxed, derelict, benign neglect--a beloved dump, quickly sinking into the Sound.. Hepburn didn't give a hoot about home improvement or housework and her kitchen was like an archeological dig of seventy years of hasty meal preparation. Her brother's portion of the house was spotless and tidy. These great summer camps always had a rabbit warren of tiny guest bedrooms and not-too-many baths. All of the day's activity was meant to be outside. Also, still clinging to the Victorian age in the early Twentieth Century, there was an unconscious desire for much-too-much privacy, so windows were small and interior daylight was at a premium. With what people are willing to pay for such a sizable house at such an ideal location, the interior just has to live up to contemporary expectations. Still, I might have made different choices. I think with a proper collection of appropriate antiques in the rooms and period art on the walls, the house would warm up quickly and lose that vanilla sterility. If I were to pick a location to create a monument to Hepburn, I might go for her townhouse and garden in Manhattan or her I'm-at-work house off Doheny in the Hollywood Hills.
I think this is absolutely stunning and beutiful, I would certainly love to buy if I had that kind of money, it's stunning.💞🙏👏👏👏🇦🇺💞 And I agree, I think Katherine would have absolutely loved it ❗ ❗ I hope someone beutiful and heartfelt can honour Katherine in this beutiful home, bringing back soulful occupancy and in memory of one of the most wonderful actresses of all time.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💞🇦🇺👏👏👏
