Don't be so hard on yourself! No cripples like I had so much of using steel last season and have to multiply shots to down the birds (not any more of those shells in the bag!) I am refreshed (heat wave coming in North Carolina!) by your video that captured the beauty again of your wonderful countryside with sounds and morning lights 🌅 Thanks also for all the details on everything to make us better ducks hunters! God bless you Matt, have a great summer!
I notice the misfire thing a lot on videos. I think hunters are not allowing the bolt to slam all the way forward, trying to avoid the noise. It's not the gun's fault. It's operator error. I'm 63 and have hunted with an autoloader since I was 12, so I know just a little about what I'm saying. The same will happen with a pump gun if you fail to rack the slide all the way with authority.
What weights do you shoot at ducks? I hunt in Italy and I have the same rifle as you and I also shoot ducks from 21g up to 26g no more...thanks for your reply and congratulations for your videos
@lukea2806 yeah, I don't use my Tristar at all anymore. The Benelli is definitely worth the money in my opinion. Some other good options as well but haven't personally used them.
Do you have Cinnamon teal there? The blue wings you have look a lot like early season Cinnamon teal. Many hunters around the marshes of the Great Salt Lake think they are blue wings, but in reality they are cinnamon teal. I’ve never shot a BW teal, as they leave northern Utah well before the duck season opens. We don’t get a teal only season here. Sure enjoy your videos.
We have occasional cinnamons show up in the spring. Most of ours are bluewings but they look almost identical in September, that a cinnamon could be bagged without knowing.
Matt -- Just want to commend you on your U-Tube videos and content. Very professional and yet down to earth. Obviously, not all about the killing like so many of the waterfowl videos, but about the wonderful experience each hunt allows. I am getting towards the end now (77 yrs old) but still love to go solo with my boat and hound dog. It's been two decades since being in the Sand Hills but maybe I'll make again. Keep up the great work.

@@HighPrairieSportsmen Tell me, because I am seriously interested in the way you would cook basically dry meat. My first instinct would be to marinate this meat in wine, beef stock and herbs for 24 hours and then slow cook it for 8 hours at 175 degrees in plenty butter with onions, garlic cloves and herbs. But you have the experience - so, if you have the time, please! Thanks, Hans (a fellow hunter and cook).
Thanks for the video. Matt, you have good patience. Able to stick out a slow day to get that great triple on greenheads and being able to wait on that big flock! I think i would have blazed away on that last pass! Understand that with the 28 gauge you want them very close though. Nice to have those Boss shells too.
Hello, how are you, my friend? My advice to you regarding your new place is that you must call the geese without going out and looking between the trees. Just stay in your place and call the geese without any movement, because ducks and geese do not hear well, but they can see accurately and observe. Look at yourself as you call them and move, and the geese come from far away. Because there is no doubt that there is movement inside the trees, and this is your fault. Wishing you continued hunting and good health, your friend and follower from KSA.
Once again a masterful video with fantastic footage: concealment perfect, decoy spread to learn from, great calling and awesome shooting, whouah! Thanks again for sharing, I feel chilled to watch this as it feels over 90°F right now in North Carolina.... Can't wait for the new season to start! God bless you Matt, have a great summer with your family!
