46:05 when wonder woman started out, she was nothing more than a glorified super model dressed in a star spangled swimsuit who was always getting tied up for reason. This is one of the things I hate about the early wonder woman stories. For me, wonder woman didn't become enjoyable until she appeared in darwyn cooke's amazing new frontier comic. My other favourite version of wonder woman is her new 52 incarnation where she not only got to use a sword and shield, but she was also taking on characters from greek mythology. Oh and in response to Scott's comment about a sword being a supposed "masculine weapon", tell that to the thousands of Celtic and Norse women who happily wielded swords on the battlefield. A sword is a sword, no matter whose using it. Read a history book and get over yourself.

Can I just say: who died and made people like Martin Scorsese the authority on what is or isn't cinema? So films like the MCU don't cater to intellectual snobs like Scorsese or even Francis Ford Coppola. Big deal. Does that stop them from enjoyable? Hell no! I personally can't wait to see what Kevin feige has in store for us. He's the creator of the MCU and he seems to know what he's doing. If anybody has a problem with that, that's their business. Fun fact, Alec Guinness once famously denounced star wars as "fairy tale nonsense". Well the joke's on you Alec. That "fairy tale nonsense" has blossomed into a billion dollar franchise of movies and TV shows that continue to be enjoyed to this day.
@jasonbadower
@jasonbadower 19 дней назад
I agree. But I also think that when these movies are at their best: MCU and Star Wars is when they've nailed their characters. The original trilogy for all it's Force and Lightsabers and Tie-Fighters is deeply bound by intense character arcs. My favorite MCU movies are the same. And I pose to you the idea of swapping the term, "Cinema" with "Character Piece". Can something be great and not be a character piece? Of course. But is it better if it is both? Gimme a hell yeah. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it.

I enjoyed it, but D&W is terrible aside from the fight scenes. Bit character are character assassinated, the plot makes no sense, and the writing is mostly crap.

This is both a harsh and a fair reply. I find it funny that I thought the fight scenes were the weakest. The writing is on one hand doing an incredible lift, but also stumbling many, many times. And if you show me this post, I'll even do you a free sketch on the inside cover! Thank you for agreeing! This is TOTALLY better than Deadpool 2 by every conceivable metric. The issue with this is that the marketing of Cyberpunk 2077 sold the direct opposite idea. Remember that Keanu Reeves ad for CP2077 that said "In Night City you can be anyone you want, any-thing". If you had to deal with the actual weight of your actions in such a fuked up scenario the game would be been trashed a lot more it already did and as you said in a previous video. CDPR has a fame of not making happy endings, and the endings on Cyberpunk is a subject that has pissed off many fans for basically making the whole gameplay story hollow and pointless. But TBH, the more that I know about Pondsmith work that inspired the game the more that I realized that CP2077 was meant to be a disaster from the very beginning since many things just don't make proper sense.
@jasonbadower
@jasonbadower Месяц назад
Rubyzkarlet! Thank you so much for watching my Cyberpunk 2077 videos. When you referenced this AND another one of my vids... I gotta say... You might have reinspired me to finish my thoughts on this game. I still have tens of thousands of words written... That I still have to edit. The key is that unhappy endings can still be great endings. They can be unhappy but still emotionally satisfying. I don't believe 2077 has great endings. Pondsmith's world is unique... But CDProjekt RED took it in some directions which stretched in very, very thin. Thank you again SO much for watching and chatting here!
@rubyzkarlet
@rubyzkarlet Месяц назад
@@jasonbadower Yeah you mentioned it. And one that comes to mind is the "ending" of Street Fighter 6's World Tour. The "base" ending is sad, but not necessarily one that's bad per se. Is just how things were bound to unfold. But at least YOU, the character, still have a path to follow and continue even if sader and uncertain. Cyberpunk's however leaves no room for actual hope and that's not sad. That's disappointing. BTW I'm glad to have inspired you to give the Cyberpunk stuff an extra thought XD Glad to help, even if unintentionally :3

Days of Future Past is like a breath of fresh air after years of mind numbing MCU content. I can't believe just how well these X-Men movies have aged. After years of being shoved garbage stories that have 0 weight, watching the whole X-Men line of movies up including Wolverine's movies because he's really the protagonist of it all, it's a silver lining, it all comes so very well together in this movie. Patrick Stewart rules any scene he's in, and I think it was a good idea to bring him in to give hope to younger Xavier because he just has weight. I think the issue with the idea that Wolverine would make younger Xavier believe and hope again is that Wolverine's a pretty depressing man, why would a depressing man take advice from another depressing man? People don't go to sick doctors to become healthy. "I don't want your pain, I don't want your suffering". Sentinels in this movie are probably even more powerful than Nimrods, I mean it doesn't really matter. If they were weaker, if they were stronger, at the end of the day why Sentinels take over is because they're being created at a scale that can overwhelm the whole Earth and destroy everyone. Mystique in Fox's X-Men is a sort of joke, the previous actress did a far better job of being an absolute menace. But also Mystique's an opportunist, not a good person. There are a lot of issues with Bryan Singer's interpretation of the X-Men but this movie was by far the best. His X-Men movies do have a heart, a feeling to them that the MCU doesn't, a feeling of home and family. It will be one of the issues that the MCU will face, because X-Men tonally needs to be a different beast. For all it's failings, this movie is a proper conclusion to the Fox era. (if you don't watch the total garbage that is Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix which no one should)
@jasonbadower
@jasonbadower Месяц назад
Hahahah! My friend says, "You don't go to a sick doctor or a poor investor". And totally agree, no one should watch Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix! You're right. There really is something here that I was unable to communicate in the wave of technical flaws that overwhelm this movie. Despite all those, there is such a different feel as you said... Of family and home. Thank you SO much for watching. What'd you think of Deadpool & Wolverine?

First of all, fellow Australian here. Secondly I've never been a fan of Deadpool. The first comic of his I actually read was this omnibus I bought years ago. I ended up skimming the entire thing and regretted wasting money. Then I had the misfortune of purchasing a digital copy of the Deadpool game on my PS3 and turned it off after the first or second level, due to the atrocious design and horrible script. To this day I cannot understand how or why Deadpool is so popular. He's essentially a cheap ripoff of Deathstroke. Thank god Rob liefeld also created domino, cable and heck even Youngblood (yes I enjoy Youngblood so what). Fourth wall breaking is a very tricky thing to pull off. To my knowledge, one of the few who mastered it is John Byrne with his sensational she hulk series which made me a she hulk fan (I was especially pleased with how Jen was introduced in her own MCU show). Apologies for the rant. I just feel deadpool is like ambush bug or bat mite. He's an annoying character only good in small doses.

Yeah, definitely a terrible movie. I'm curious what the Riff Trax is like on it. but I bet it couldn't even save it. For what it's worth, I think it's MCU, SONY, FOX, and DCEU in that order only because Spiderverse I'm counting as full length feature adaptations and that takes the cake over anything Fox did with X-men and F4, but Also can't be first because of the extended Sony Spider-verse movies that are absolutely horrible. Also as a different aside; I love the discussion, but for the long format videos, might some time stamps be helpful? i.e 1:36 - Scott and Film Introduction 2:26 - Hugh Jackman Buttocks Oscar Snub I know it's way more work I'm sure, but it could help people jump to various sections or reference specific discussions and things.

Thanks so much for hunting me down and dropping a comment. I hope we can stay in touch here!

Great video! Can't wait for the next one. Some friends and I were just discussing that one of the "misses" in the tv show was that I had no sense of the geography and it didn't feel accurate to Los Angeles at all. Even though it had the Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood, and the Griffith Observatory it didn't feel like they were laid out in a way that matched the actual geography -- which is something the games excel at (as your video shows!).

Oh man, I totally replied to this! What happened?! My god, you guys are so right! To see her actually trek through LA the way that we (tried) to trek through RL Boston would have been awesome. Thanks so much, man!

I get screen tearing/heatwave effect with mouse movement in x2 scaling on full screen. Anyone know a fix? All I have installed is fixt and hi res mods.

All I can suggest is remove one element at a time. Easiest is turn off x2. Then try turning that back on and removing the mods. I have a bad feeling that it's the mix between the two. You might only be able to have one or the other. I try to remind myself that mods are not professional releases. Thank you SO much for watching!

Snyder apparently also skipped Knightfall, yknow, the storyline solely dedicated to proving why a non-lethal Batman is better

Oh hell yes! I totally forgot about Knightfall. I wasn't reading a ton of Batman comics at that time. You're a rockstar. YES. And thank you for watching!

@jasonbadower Thanks! Yeah it's a challenge reading start to finish because it's a mammoth story of course but worth it for sure

Man that's exactly what I feel about Cyberpunk 2077 and you explained it so well, truly a great video imo. Cyberpunk 2077 was my most anticipated game ever back in 2020 and for like 7 years before that and even way more after playing The Witcher 2 and 3 especially which I found WAY better than Cyberpunk 2077 overall. Also of course after seeing the E3 2018 long gameplay trailer and of course E3 2019 when they revealed that Keanu Reeves would be in the game, the hype was through the roof for me and so many people of course, but It ended up being one of my biggest gaming disappointment because they delivered something very different than what they promised and It's really that simple really and I'm always baffled that so many people just don't understand that. I still to this day didn't finish Cyberpunk 2077 but I'm currently in a playthrough and I think i will finish it because I still really like the game tbh despite my initial huge disappointment that is still sour in my mouth and other issues I have with the game. Also yeah the Mass Effect LE and Fallout New Vegas are so much better imo at least in role playing.

Thank you SO much. I really appreciate this. I am so sorry that you still haven't finished Cyberpunk. The endings are unfortunately all big wet poops. The Phantom Liberty one is probably the best. I never watch trailers or any media before watching a movie or playing a game. This way I can play it for what it is. I am so sorry that their marketing department broke the game that the developers worked so hard on. If there's any way you can go back, I think there's something really special there.

@@jasonbadower Yeah well I just started the Phantom Liberty expansion and so far I think it's quite better than the base game imo. Also the thing is that they first announced the game in 2012, just one year after The Witcher 2 which I was a big fan of when it released back in 2011 so I was quite curious and then the creator of the table top Cyberpunk 2020 Mike Ponsmith talked about it with such passion and that he worked very close with cdpr so It got me excited even more and at that point we knew almost nothing about the game and there was like 1 min in total we saw of the game so yeah. Then well of course the rest is history but don't worry I learned my lessons and since then I don't hype myself very much at all before a game release even with Gta 6 that I wait since a decade like a ton of people, I'm quite worried since almost every big leads at Rockstar left and now there is only Sam Houser left. I mean I still hope very much so that the game will be good since I'm a huge Rockstar games fan but yeah.
