I was casual then a full time gaff lad throughout the 1980's and 1990's travelling London and the surrounding area, great experience to have worked behind the scenes with the travelling showmen.

Hebborn's and others have the Waltzers at Oxford St.Giles, Hatwell's go to Didcot and the surrounding area. Yes big old fair the street fair need to get to that one 👍

Also was at Barry island pleasure park pat Collins had it 1st my mum always said this was my first waltzer ride when was little and had holiday at Barry butlins great ride and video

Walked this a few times at the Evesham mop charter, really is a smart machine fast too. I mind Henry Danter’s fairtrade in Stourport on Severn on busy weekends and the summer when low of staff, compared to the old Maxwell we had these Porter waltzers really are the future!
New York New York is one of the best themed Superbob's out there and that i have been on a few times , last being at Hornchurch when it was still with Cy Abbott and now owned by T Harris Amusements . Luke 👍
Its so easy yet so sad that in this day on age, folk (and rightfully so) are dazzled by the bright lights, sounds and smells of the magic the fair brings when it comes to town. One day, its an empty field, in the disguise of the night magic appears and as quick as it arrived, its gone again! Without these kind of books, a part of history could be lost forever. Keep adding to your collection Luke, I am definitionally going to make an effort to look on ebay! Brilliant as always Luke sir, thanks for sharing!

Absolutely brilliant Luke! Right there is history. At some point in the past, many of those tokens passed many hands with just one goal, for the bearer to experience the fun of the fair! It might be a bit of plastic or a bit of card to some but each item gave nothing other than laughs and thrills! Love the passion and love you hold for the fair Luke! Thanks for sharing as always sir!
Thanks Sam, yes I've had those Rose's and Danter's ride tickets since the mid to late 1980's, never stopped to think how many hands they have passed through or how many free rides they may have given 😀 👍
Good to see your fairground book collection too again i bet its good to see the rides from back in day , some thing else that fascinated me at fairs was the side show stalls with Freaks & Oddities that looking back now were sometimes fake but always drew you in Luke 👍

Thanks Chris, i was actually off sick from school and the program came on the telly 📺 I couldn't get a 📼 cassette in the video recorder any faster if I'd tried 😆 it was that funfair that came to my town every summer, who'd have thought i would be able to share it with the world all these years later 😀 👍
Thanks Chris, yes most definitely, when i was a casual for Rose's Fun Fair at a very young age i would litter pick around the rides arcade and stalls and was rewarded with countless free ride tickets and would spend all afternoon riding the dodgems on a massive track with no less than 30 Reverchon Altanta dodgem cars so retro haha and endless free rides on a shiny new Sobema Matterhorn, also a favourite was John Searle's Meteorite Round-Up. All this was nearly 40 years ago next year, omg typing this i feel old but yes fantastic memories and the very start of my gaff lad journey, memories i shall treasure forever 😊
@@CoolhandLuke552 That sounds a great story from your days at Rose's fair , from memory when i was a kid going to fairs it was all cash no tokens ! and i spend hours outside the Ghost Train watching people go on and hearing the sounds coming from inside as i was to scared to go on ! but now there one of my favourite fair rides Luke 👍👻
@@chrispike7249 Excellent Chris, oh yes was all cash the free ride tickets were handed out to shop keepers who displayed our posters for the fair and we even had Billy Danter's Funfair give free ride tickets 🎟 given to our school so every pupil had a free ride at the fair. I loved ghost trains and haunted houses at the fair, still do to this day 😀👍

Love these types of videos, seeing the generators and trucks, do they workshops in the back of the lorries in case things like welding are needed or woodwork
We use to do welding and repairs outside wherever we were, some lorries i've seen in the past have had a kind of workshop yes. Pleased you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 👍
That’s looks a big generator on the back I love foden erf 6x4 box trucks with to gardeners sticking out the but times move on and unfortunately the British truck industry die so we are starting to see more Volvo daf and Scania now guess I am still living in the past great catch mate
I’m in my mid forties and still love high force spinning rides like the whippy ones especially ones that rotate u in the same direction as the platform is going as long as it’s not small circles like tea cups spinning I can handle that but this ride absolutely it’s like a super duper tilt a whirl I wish we had one in the US.
These Fairtrade Services Waltzers are the newest type of Waltzer on the UK fairgrounds, similar motion to the Tilt a Whirl you have in America. You can't beat the G-forces that a Waltzer ride creates once that car is spinning to the max. Great comment and thanks for watching 👍
This is a classic ride. Dorney Park Allentown Pennsylvania had during the 80s. This is a newer version because the original never had the Enterprise lift effect. It stayed on that angle.
A classic ride from my youth, yes i remember the upright paratrooper rides, still some travelling on the fairs in the UK, obviously they take longer to load the riders like the Rock O Plane or Zipper, the lifting paratrooper like the enterprise is better in getting the passengers on and off quickly between ride cycles. Brilliant as always Luke! I have a feeling these tracks are bring back great memories for you! I was never a foot away from my cassette player with a freshly loaded blank C60 on record pause with my finger on zero latency in the hope radio city 96.7 was going to play it! Even held the recorder to the TV on top of the pops and threatened instant death if anyone spoke or breathed lol A E I O U, to this day has massive memories for me! Brilliant ride also, another ride powered with its own internal diesel engine, it’s interesting that the ride slightly struggles with multiple hydraulic actions. Spins fast but as soon as it’s requested to raise, the rotation seems to take a hit and slows! If this is James Cre**** have been on it, good ride but was charged £3.50 for a 70 second cycle :-( Knocking out the content left right and centre at the moment sir, keep it up, this time next year you’ll have a million subscribers!

@@CoolhandLuke552 if anyone asks me, what does heaven sound like, I will send them here! I will never forgot the early 80s, was on the annual summer holiday day out to Southport and it’s funfair! Will take the memory of sitting on the waltzer in front of the pay box to what I thought was a rather glamorous older lady in the cash box. Large oversized tinted glasses, fresh out of the salon voluptuous curly hair with traffic stopping red lipstick and nail polish! I sound like I had a school boy crush but knew even then I was on the fence, everyone was beautiful! While waiting for the ride to load up, had the pleasure of scritti politi the word girl, then Axel F and then got spun senseless to Johnny come home. Was only when the ride stopped, I found my balls to walk upto the cash box and ask what was playing, she smiled and held up Now that’s what I call music 5 cassette! I left that day with one thing on my memory, what organs do I sell to get enough to buy that cassette! Fast forward to today, the joy I got on the re-release on cd! Nothing but joy and happy memories! Thank you sir!
Super Troopers are a real favourite ride of mine , i have not been on this one but i have done David Irvins PWS Super Trooper a few times as well as Perrin Motts Trooper XL , great footage too Luke 👍
I did not realise this Twister Paratrooper belonged to John Wesseldine who owns the only Toboggan in the uk it does look a great Paratrooper too Luke 👍
Just seen in your community posts that New York has now sold! What rides does that leave Cy with now? I presume he is looking for another ride to buy? I know he had super trooper but sold that and I know he has a little coaster train but not sure what else he owns? Also a question for you Luke having been a Gaff lad, what happens to the lads that worked on New York, do they go with the ride or do they lose the job and move on? Thanks Sam really appreciate it, Cy has bought a KMG Speed Booster from France called Vertical Limit, i imagine the same staff will stay with Abbott's Amusements and the new ride assuming they want too.

I’m still recovering from New York from 3 years on! Always said it was as rough as a butchers block, just ask my back! I think I have got to the age now that I appreciate watching rides more than I ever would riding them! @@SamM-oh2cx Thanks Sam appreciate your comments, it's great to know you enjoy the content, during the B.Cole's Waltzer build a showman said to me i obviously know my way around the gaff, i think that's why i enjoy getting right into the action and sometimes privileged to be so close and up on the rides when filming as i did with B.Cole's Waltzer and Rogers Terminator3 Matterhorn too, i like to cover all aspects of the travelling funfair, be nice to hit 1k subscribers before the end of the year 😀👍 Just going on Abbott's Amusements Facebook it sounds like Cy will be getting another easy build fold out ride in addition to the Booster, no idea what. I can't get on the really extreme rides nowadays, Ice Jet almost wiped me out 😅 it's definitely an age thing, i worked and partied hard as a teenager in the 1990's it's all catching up with me now 😄
