Very nice lead tone mate.... For you which one is better for solos, E520 or E530? Btw I have E840/50 power amp. I use it with Laney GH100L s preamp section. It sounds very similar to your tone. But I prefer your tone because I think EL34s better for solos...
I really liked my e530, but that dual mid-range control always had me re-adjusting and searching for the mids I like, but could never find in that unit. Exceptional otherwise!

Oh good...lol. I just bought one from Ebay in near mint condition and awaiting delivery. I was looking for the Mesa type brooding growl with complex mids , would you describe it that way or different?
I'm looking to pair it with either VHT, Macintosh or a Boogie Simul-class 295 monster. Also got a T.C Gmaj which is the best sounding FX I have heard so far. Been looking for a small 1 U rack power amps like the Macht 402 but someone advised against pairing a cheap power amp with something like the Engle520. Apparently the Engl will really shine if it gets top notch power driving it. Pls let me know if you know about any great PA's:)
I just bought this pre amp from Ebay and can't wait for it to arrive. I'm looking for stellar clear distortion with that lovely grainy low growl. Hope I'm not disappointed. Btw wicked guitar skills you got there:))
You wan't be disapointed...preamp is amazing! Just be sure to put presence on zero...you can up in power amp! Tone is more around 90is...lead is just sing!
You were right I'm not disappointed..lol. It sounds stunning and very open on the cleans, also it still sounds up to date in a mature way however I am now considering having a mod done to get more gain from the rhythm channel . Rather than hit my signal hard before the Pre-amp using a micro amp or compressor I would prefer less cables and connections ect... Do you know anything about having this kind of surgery done as I haven't got much idea only that many people are modding their rackmounts these days...any info on this would be very appreciated:))
Ok..he sent me a schematic and pointed out two resistors to change one for higher gain and the other for avoiding strenuous hiss ect...He also mentioned trying a clean booster in the front like the xotic RC booster or the alike. The xotic is expensive around £230 however I found a guy who will build me an identical clone for £40 which I have seen demoed and it works brilliantly with true bypass and zero colouration of tone:)
