Allright. The next leg day, I'm bringing my laptop to the basement so I can watch and rewatch this until my apparently dumb ass can finally figure it out. (And they let me be an appellate criminal defense attorney! Did great in law school! And .... i can't get _straps_ on well enough to use them to take my max above my grip limitation)
I was on a treadmill. Once I finished I felt a bit woozy and i threw up. Then I realized this is serious. I decided to drive to the clinic as it started to pain. Thankfully I made it. The clinic did an ecg and confirmed variations in my Ecg. They gave me aspirin and nitroglycerin and called the ambulance to take me to te nearest hospital. In the hospital, while waiting for the surgeon, I was adamant not to put a stent. But on the xray it showed a100% block on the LAD. I had no choice. One stent and post operation, i was weak it my blood pressure was taking time to come back up to normal levels. I got out after 3 days. That was 1.5 years ago. Still cannot fathom how it happened to me. Still in denial at times. All my blood work was fine. The mistake I made was I did not go for a heart stress check. Anyway, this is what is destined and there may be good in it, in Sha Allah ( God Willing) and Al hamdu liLlah (praise to The Almighty) Feels good to read the comments here. Now I realise there are many who went through the same and are fighting through it. May Allah make all of us stronger, our hearts better than ever, protect our arteries and bless human kind with a cure to fix scarred hearts and damaged heart muscles.
Thanks. I'm trying to do dead hangs quite often for my back and neck issues and it's helping except that my grip won't let me hold the bar more than a minute and a half. I'm hoping I can hang for 4 or 5 minutes to really do some good work on my spine.
For anyone watching this, do this or use something else like a bench or hyper extension until you can afford to get it. My lower back went and I know why and it was the most painful i have experienced. This was because the glutes were weak. Your glutes plays a huge role for your hip flexors, and everything else, plus there's a muscle that connections to your hips and up to the middle of your back. It runs through the glutes, and so when that tightens due to not exercising it, due to sitting a lot, it gets smaller and so it puts pressure on your spine and your hips, and it only takes on mistake on a deadlift, a pendley row due sitting a lot at your desk and lack of stretching, excercises. It snaps, and you feel pain in lower back, glutes, middle lower of glutes so you can't even sit down and walk. Now you know why old people who walk slow not because they are old but due to lack of care of their body, muscles etc. I healed through lots of stretching daily and using this machine. Doctors said I needed surgery, all sorts but I refused. I am now recovered, strong doing dead lifts, pendley rows they said I'd never be able to do again! You got this machine in gym..use it often!
Been experiencing pain in my palm while deadlifting resulting in weight limitation, now i finally bought the straps and will try your tips. Thanks Matt
@BarbellLogic When did you restart lifting? I tried to restart a novice 5x5 program with a MWF cadence...got through the Mon workout fine....but when i tried the Wed workout it felt like my ❤ was about to jump out my chest...scared the sh*t outta me. Think I started bk too early.
Excellent advice. I’d gotten used to the wsf wraps with the buckle and was using them almost all lifts. I now using the thumb hooks ones and only on the heavier lifts
Good evening, you can still max without a belt correct, yoo I don’t necessarily need to have one, I have been lifting on an on since high school, but now at 50 I am hooked, I have not been using one. Not sure if this topic is like the oil change debate. I watch all your videos, I am not some hater.
We appreciate the idea, but we just don't really know what is available in all the different locations. You might be able to do that though and get a popular video - what is the best equipment in Italy or the EU?
Good vid! I train my whole body at each workout; training only 2 times a week. I do one set of each exercise to absolute failure, usually amounting to 6 or 7 sets in total. Each workout takes approximately 20 minutes. I go very hard and keep rests between exercises to a minimum; about 5 seconds. I'm 63 years old and used to compete in power lifting during the 80s. Was not the best choice I ever made. Both knees and a hip are nearly devoid of cartilage, but I keep going. Only now, I'm training the way I should've been training all those years ago. I much prefer the pre-exhaustion method on nearly all my exercises. Very intense.
Will likely need to reduce the overall stress, with shorter workouts, lower volume. Focus on intensity (e.g. might focus on more triples and just do one lift a day 3-4 days a week). Or, could do 2 workouts a week.
We add these super early on (sometimes right away). We'd say for a true beginner, the isometric work from the deadlift is enough (again, just to begin).
Best instructional video on the reverse hyper that I have seen so far. Also, great to have a girl demonstrating so that this seems more relevant to show my better half so she can also get the most out of this movement. Just picked up a RH for our home gym.
Great video! About 5 weeks ago I had a STEMI, 100% blockage of my LAD...the recovery process is wild, especially mentally....so tired of being hyper sensitive to feelings in my body & wondering if it's another issue with my heart. Start Cardiac rehab in a few days, looking forward to it. Was very athletic prior to this, so videos like yours, letting me know I can get bk to training eventually mean the WORLD to me. Thanks!
