It great being a beginner you have so much fun ahead of you. Obviously Jazz songs teng to be a bit more complex. But this one uses some basic chords too. As far as Chet Baker songs go it's one of the easier ones I think.
Thanks. Tutorials are not my strong point but occasionally people seem to want/need/like them. And I know what it's like when I'm looking for tutorials and can't find one.
Back in the day I used to do loads of songs like this. One of the most requested song I'd get among my friends was for me to play The Littlest Hobo. Lol. Also a beautiful song. I'm sure I uploaded a version here at some point too.
sir, that was beautiful 🙏 i have a question, did you follow a certain tutorial or have a tab sheet to look at? i am a beginning guitarist and love this song and really want to learn it. have a great day
Typically for this kind of music I'll just learn by ear and then play from memory. I often have the lyrics up though as many songs I don't have the lyrics memorized. It's quite an easy one to play. I'll try to find time to take a look and see what chords but I'm sure if you google it most of them will coincide with the right chords. (Sometimes for my voice I'll use a capo but still use the same chord shaped of the original.)
Thanks. I seem to recall finding this song hard to cover because it's one of those songs that's so powerful it gets me emotional. I have a feeling I had to delete a couple of takes because I broke down while singing it. 😢 So glad we have artists writing songs like this that put such powerful and often sad emotions into beautiful music that we can find solace in during our low moments.
I recommend Ireal for chords. Great app. Worth paying a one time fee for loads of access to chord sheets and backing tracks. I used to play this back in the day by ear. It's not that complicated and I consulted ireal for the B part and adapted a couple of spots to make it more like Chet Baker's version.
I just went and listened to try and transcribe my version. I think this is right but feel free to check it against the recording and please credit me if you use it and share your version with me so I can enjoy it. Chega de saudade English lyrics Fly my blues, Tell her the news. Tell her I'm lost if she goes away. Tell her that I'm yearning for her returning Because I can't bear anymore. I've had my fill of blues, and still the truth will always be: without you there's no peace, no beauty, only sadness and saudade and I cannot seem to get you out of me. Still... if she came back, if she came back, just thing how crazy, how crazy lovely. There are more fishes swimming in the great wide sea than all the kisses that her little mouth will get from me. In my arms embracing, what you're facing is a million kisses and a million cuddles to, I'm telling you, yeah just we too. There'll be so many kisses and cuddles wait and see. To put an end to all the business of a you without a me. I can't go on with all this business of a you without a me.
I'm surprised for my whole life and i'm 70 years old. I never thought this was going to be monkeys i was listened on spotify overnight while sleeping the other day and i just father was wonderful. This done me a great tune
I love how life flows in this 1:13 People talk, you give them a smile, background noise, light changes, quiet singing voice and the guitar that’s covering all the sounds around it 🌻
I wish I'd done a test first. We were about to play a gig and I wanted to catch the beautiful scenery, but if I'd have known the acoustics better I would have sung louder or played quieter. But, yeah, it was more about the moment.
Thanks for the heart. I'd totally forgotten I'd recorded this. Such a beautiful song I'm almost scared to listen to it in case I get the feels before work and get too sentimental. I always cry when I see the live version of Neil singing this. I think they just discovered a brain aneurysm of something right around that time. Beautiful song. Simple but profound.
Thanks, I've just learnt to play it correctly, and memorize it. I did some versions years ago but was never happy with it. I think this version works okay.
Man, I have no idea. Lol. I never learnt consciously how to strum, up down, all that stuff. I just did what felt right. It's got me this far. Lol. I never really think about that I just try and copy what I hear or what feels right. I may not be precise but I faked it long enough now there's no going back.
Hello, I just wanna say that you're really great and you choose nice songs/music which means you have a really nice music taste, and you're voice is really nice, so calming. Keep it up! :D
Aw, thanks. I remember this moment very clearly. I'd just discovered this song (which I think I may have originally heard in the Brazilian version by Paula Toller). I was strolling the streets of Santiago just listening to this song in a loop and full of a melancholy mood, made beautiful by this gorgeous song and arrangement.
Yeah, he specializes in hot jazz (early jazz). Mainly from the 20s but upto the 40s. We play together in a group called HOT JAZZ UNION. We have music on BANDCAMP if you wanna check us out.
A friend requested this and I learnt it that day and never heard it or played it again. Lol. Sorry, don't have no tabs. Nor do I know how to make them. Hugs
