Isn’t there a potential upside that should addressed here? People have been complaining about the lowering of standards at fast food places for many years. Possible that one way to justify higher prices to consumers is to improve the experience (accuracy, food quality, speed, cleanliness, customer service, etc.). The business owners who focus on those items rather than cutting costs as low as possible (which is usually a bad idea in the long term), will outcompete the penny-pincers and have the opportunity to buy them out at bargain prices.

When people understand the ones who push these ideas absolutely do not believe in them theirselves. They have another agenda entirely and the selfish people play right into their hands it seems everytime. They believe these politicians have their best interests in mind lol. There is a reason why your "great state" is the richest yet has the highest homelessness in the u.s. and when it rolls on down to the more wealthier which it will people will realize just how foolish they were.

I don't eat that garbage and if it only effected the people who choose to eat at those places i wouldn't care. The nature of this country is when the wages go up businesses get a hard on and start raising prices. Look at what happened during the. Plan-demic. Did I put an L in that word. Let's pretend My back space don't work within acceptable parameters. Back to the subject. I was 17 or 18 when minimum wage came in. It was a solid drumroll, $1.50 an hour. My thought is that the Gig economy is forcing the hand of capitalism. This ruling will be upheld because most businesses are already losing their employees to self-employment gig economy, etc. Most employees these days are savvy enough to watch a RU-vid video and figure out that if they started at 10:99 it would be better off doing the same thing, then working at W-2 job

Ummmmm.... You're not coming into this with common sense nor a fair stance. Yes, SOME of the franchise owners own one or two locations. However, the FACT is the majority of franchise owners own many many locations. Your entire premise overlooks the reality is MOST franchises are owned by corporations. If you can't pay a fair, livable amount for everything you NEED to run a business you don't deserve to claim a profit. That's supply and demand. There's so many companies that pay a living wage and keep competitive prices. Plus you're talking about PEOPLE!!! This is about BUSINESSES. you're cutting out the facts in order to fit your desired end result. See the below facts u r irresistibly ignoring: McDonald's annual gross profit for 2023 was $14.563B, a 10.26% increase from 2022. McDonald's annual gross profit for 2022 was $13.207B, a 4.98% increase from 2021. McDonald's annual gross profit for 2021 was $12.58B, a 29% increase from 2020. Please note: wages paid and average locations owned by franchises.

Im not sure why everyone is suprised that the prices are so high. You made a legal requirement for people to intract with these private companies offered no alternative, allowed them to discriminate on factors that no other company can discrimante based on ex:age, and gender (also if you dont think they factor in race I can basically guarantee they do) simply because they paid for studies that show a corelation. What annoys me is hearing for all of these years that theyre justified in charging me over $200 per month because I'm a 20 year old male, but now that they're coming for the rest of you its a problem. You made your bed. Sleep in it.

Glad you brought up Florida I was watching the news when it started to happen. First Florida had buttload of contractors illegally putting claims in for new roofs so that was a big Scandal but also a big chunk of money the insurance company's lost with that and the increase in hurricanes damage from hurricanes that insurance companies had to put out money to 1/2 repair houses many insurance companies decided to stop selling in Florida and to help make up their losses these big companies that also are throughout the country selling homeowners insurance car insurance they said it at the time couple of years ago that all the insurances will go up throughout the whole country. Florida and the rest of the red states that have a lot of disasters hurricanes have to start paying their own bills and not relying on FEMA Federal Government to pay their bill and It can easily be done some of these states don't even have state income tax which would help pay for that stuff and still have money left over for corrupt the Republican politicians to pocketed

I still approve this bill if it addresses industries that demand degrees, education, and years of experience yet offer low wages. It's unreasonable for many advanced jobs to require certifications while paying less than $20 an hour. Opting for fast-food jobs seems preferable to accepting such positions. I hope this bill compels non-food companies to reassess their employment practices, making roles more attractive and equitable for workers, instead of perpetuating low wage for high skill and high experience positions. If it forces the non-food business out of business because they can't find workers or keep up with demand, then it's even better. I think most advanced job seekers people are disappointed at when viewing current job boards.

As to Franchises; 1. A franchisee will invest ina frachise as a franchiser invests in its brand. When there is a legally imposed quota of 59 franchises before an operator is hit w a 25% higher labor cost, the value of that franchise is now far less. Consider the devaluing of the franchise that one paid for before this law???

This all sounds great when you leave out competition, but in reality someone will take a 2% hit to margins to be more competitive. They will then have more business due to offering a similar quality product at a lower price. My point in highlighting this is that markets are unpredictable. When you make simple predictions based off supposed fundamentals, you always leave something out, you have to because you can't calculate all the variables. If you could, markets would be predictable.

BOOOO HOOOO SO SAD FOR THE FRANCHISEE OWNERS - IT IS SAD! THEY HAVE TO RAISE PRICES TO KEEP THEIR BILLIONS The massive franchise operation, founded by San Francisco Billionaire, Greg Flynn, is considered the world’s largest franchisee with more than 2,600 restaurants under a portfolio of brands that includes Applebee’s, Taco Bell, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Arby’s and Wendy’s. The restaurants generate roughly $4.5 billion in annual sales and employ about 75,000. Here are seven franchise billionaires you should know in 2023. 1) Greg Flynn Greg Flynn is the founder and CEO of the largest franchise operator in the world: Flynn Restaurant Group and Flynn Properties. Greg started his franchising journey in 1999 when he purchased his first Applebee’s franchise. Over the years, he has grown his multi-unit franchisee brand Flynn Restaurant Group into a wildly successful operation. The brand owns and operates approximately 2,400 Applebee’s, Tacos Bells, Arby’s, Wendy’s, Pizza Huts and Panera’s, generating roughly $4 billion in sales. In 2012, Flynn became the first American franchisee to reach the $1 billion mark. As an enterprise, the Flynn Restaurant Group is worth an estimated $2 billion. 2) Jack Cowin Jack Cowin is a Canadian-Australian businessman and entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of $5 billion. Cowin is directly responsible for bringing Kentucky Fried Chicken to Australia. He also founded and owns the Burger King franchise in Australia. He previously controlled Domino’s Pizza franchises in Australia. In 2021, he was ranked the 17th richest Australian businessman by the Financial Review Rich List. As of 2023, according to Forbes, Jack Corwin is the #15 richest person in Australia. 3) Tony Tan Caktiong Tong Tan Caktiong is the founder of the Philippines-based fast-food chain Jollibee. Caktiong started from humble beginnings and opened a small ice cream franchise when he was just 22 years old. After a few years into the business, he decided to rebrand the franchise to Jollibee, which has since become one of the world’s fastest-growing Asian restaurant chains. Jollibee now has more than 3,300 locations in the Philippines and more than 2,500 stores across the globe. In 2020, Forbes ranked Caktiong as the #9 richest person in the country. His estimated net worth sits around $5.5 billion. 4) Carrols Restaurant Group Carrols Restaurant Group is an American franchisee company. The brand is the largest franchisee of Burger King restaurants in the world, with over 1,000 Burger King units and 55 Popeyes restaurants under its purview. Throughout the years, Carrols has also formerly owned other restaurant chains such as Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana. As an enterprise, Carrols Restaurant Group is worth roughly $1.4 billion. 5) William Heinecke William Heinecke is a Thai businessman and entrepreneur who started his first business Minor International before he was 18 years old. Minor International operates more than 500 hotels and resorts, roughly 2,400 restaurants and 470 retail stores spread across 50 countries. In 2018, Heinecke acquired Spain’s NH Hotels and effectively tripled the size of his hotel portfolio. In 2020, Forbes ranked him as the #20 richest person in Thailand, and his estimated net worth sits around $1.6 billion. 6) Dhanani Group The Dhanani Group started in the gas and convenience store business in 1976. In 1994, it became a franchisee for Burger King. The brand was founded by Shoukat Dhanani, who remains the CEO. The Dhanani Group is based out of Sugar Land, Texas, and is one of the nation’s top quick-service restaurant (QSR) franchisees for both Burger King and Popeyes. The Dhanani Group also has a growing presence in casual and fine dining, and owns a number of La Madeleine restaurants. The Dhanani Group’s estimated net worth sits at about $1.3 billion. 7) MUY! Companies MUY! Companies is a restaurant franchisee group that owns and operates a number of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Wendy’s locations.
