I tried the same but it did not work, BUT when attached to the ethernet i could update the FIrmware for the nodes and then i could just drop the cord and restart and it connected properly.

I’ve just managed to get it working with Duracell AA’s, so not true that you need low quality batteries. The secret is to fiddle with the 1st battery and the lid to make sure that it drops low. Then the 2nd battery will go in easily. How this helps. 😊

This is a great finding, but I disagree with all happy comments. I would expect a solution to connect the node into the Mesh via WIFI. As it is described in the documentation and tools. Connecting the routers together by the cable every time is annoying. This is not why we chose an Asus product and spent our money accepting such workarounds and wasting our time, do we?

This is the most garbage product ever. What a pathetic and stupid design to put a battery in it. God forbid if I was the boss and was handed this. The person who designed it would have it inserted into their anus!!

For the other people struggling, one of the batteries has to be flipped 😂
