I watched the video as well and I definitely do NOT condone workplace violence, it was clear in the video (which was not fake news btw), that the young man was standing still, waiting on his mother while she went into the car for something (I'm not sure), when the second security officer decided he was going to attack the teen. Maybe we don't hear what's going on. Maybe the teen was mouthy but that STILL doesn't give the officer a right to slam this kid on the ground. Period.

This is a great summary of some of the problems and solutions to our primary care health delivery. Regarding a patient centered electronic health record, we could have had that for free, by adopting the Veterans Administration model for electronic medical records, which was all about care coordination. Instead, the Bush Administration gave that technology to Cerner, a private firm hoping to capitalize on the EHR mandate and forbade the spread of this resource to the private sector. This is akin to President Bush also forbidding Medicare from negotiating drug prices for their largest customer demographic. The latter has caused a 30% spike in the cost of prescription drugs, paid for by the tax payers.

Once again we hear the myth that there are "job shortages" in health IT.. The majority of jobs are implementation and are short term and lack health care benefits. Counting each 3 month or 9 month job is not the same as a career in IT.- it is like being a carpenter without a union. The largest EHR vendor also won't let people get trained to implement the system unless they are working for Epic hospital system. Everyone in the industry knows this.
