Both kirk and bones were right. Kirk didnt believe in the no win scenario- and instead of being captured for info, he out fought his personal Kobayashi Maru. thats why Bones said that. Even when something seems hopeless Kirk can turn it around somehow
What a lot of people miss - even Star Trek fans - Trekkies - of which I am proudly one - (and it took me a few years to fully appreciate this myself) is that you can't just casually bring back a character like Spock from the dead. Not without consequence. Not without sacrifice. The narrative wouldn't hold together. Death would become cheap. Death should never be cheapened. If you bring someone back, then there MUST be an equivalent exchange. For us - the fans - Enterprise was that sacrifice. Better to go out in a blaze of glory and sacrifice than be slowly scrapped and dismantled.
Maybe it's the working class that have largely changed. I was raised in Dagenham and now I'm a truck driver, and yet I find the majority of the working class to be ignorant, unhealthy (to a disgusting degree), and vulgar. The working class were once respected because they were respectable. Vicki Pollard might be an exaggeration, but it's a valid one.

Not sure I agree with the basis of this documentary. A lot of what is discussed was about the ‘non-working class’, those that lived on jobseekers long term mixed with criminal activities. Not proper working class people who, by definition, work. (And I grew up in a family that was part working class and part the non-working underclass and we all distinguished between them).
Rome was the only superpower on the block and building an empire. Slaves could have been dealt with in a better manner much sooner but she did not pick on one particular group. We did not have the combustion engine or at least the gin mill mid 1860's. It's a peculiar thing to man that he will get someone else to do the dirty work if he can. Even our noble indigenous people enslaved other groups. Today, we are back to slavery with constant war, more robots replacing jobs subjecting people to lower wages while our population continues to swell.
