The design of the intakes isn't very efficient making it not possible to increase speed beyond a certain point unless you flip over and force more air into the intakes to increase thrust. Once you get past a certain speed you can flip back over as you're now going fast enough to overcome the inefficiency (more speed means more air getting in the intakes)
It a sim of an imaginary plane, I get it. But the flying is beyond sloppy. He was buzzing houses and nearly crashing with that insane right turn that took him 500 ft above a residential area at 500 kts. If you’re gonna sim, sim.
@@nigelbenn4642 Negative. Indicated airspeed only measures the pressure experienced in the pitot tube which decreases with altitude as the air is less dense. Indicated airspeed is only equal to true airspeed at sea level at standard temperature and pressure.
@@cameronhoward99 OK let me explain this to you in simplistic terms. "AIRSPEED" is the speed the vehicle is travelling through the air at ground speed measured in KNOTS. There you go.
Great flight, but the FAA would have had your ass for that takeoff from JFK and the British Aviation authorities would have had your ass for that near-miss and unauthorized landing at LHR. 😅😅
Shortest route is probably over Canada as "the shortest" route on a normal Mercator map is not the shortest in real life because of the spherical properties of the earth.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Engines 1 & 2 are normal turbojet engines used to get the Darkstar up to Mach 3, just fast enough for the Scramjets (Engine 3 & 4) to engage. Then the turbojet engines shut off since it'll cause drag.
