Established in November 2000, the Texas Medical Center Orchestra (TMCO) of Houston is one of very few community orchestras in the United States and the world with its origin in the health professions. It includes physicians, dentists, nurses, medical students, biomedical scientists, social workers and other allied health professionals who have a dedication to music that goes beyond their daily occupations.
The mission of the orchestra is to provide a fellowship in both music and medicine for its members, to contribute culturally to the community and to help raise funds for medical and other local charities through its concerts.
Beautiful recording, especially the section near the middle, starting around 4:00. I live within several miles of the Savannah River and fished it as a young boy. This music evokes quiet evenings on the calmly flowing waterway, hushing away the noise and turmoil of things of lesser importance. Oh, the dreams remembered! The timeless waters know them all it seems.
Good beginning. They (the choir) needs to enunciate more clearly!. They also need a little bit more volume. The bells were louder than they were, but for a group of kids, they were really good!. Excellent contralto/Mezzo! (Emily Treigle)
Dear Texas Medical Centre Orchestra, Many Thanks for this exuberant performance. Maestro Libi Lebel, such a a wonderful woman conductor - Yoh!! And, as is now a growing and splendid phenomenon (which I witness from the cheap seats in London's Royal Festival Hall and Barbican Centre and Royal Albert Hall), the 1st and 2nd violins are packed full of brilliant female players. Advance the life-creative and lie-protective daughters of Kali Ma and Gaia and wise Athena! A very enthralling band of medical professionals and a delightfully agile orchestra. I wish you lots of love and every success. Tanti bacini, Andrea (life long orchestral music addict)
How many brain cells does it take for youtube to know that advertisements should be played BEFORE a musical performance, not haphazardly dropped into the performance whenever ... especially two different times!!
No sabia que fuera uruguayo pero sí está considerado.como tango. Es hermoso aunque hay otros que me gustan más (por ejemplo: "Uno"). Y más hermoso ver bailar tango!!
All doctors and nurses except for the conductor. Bravi! Wagner thought love of craft yields art, and here we are right before the pandemic with doctors and nurses who put themselves in harms way.
Oh contraire, God hates gays, and much of that beloved music you refer to was written by gays! Music never came from "God." It came from the great talent and genius of men. You'd argue that God created men, so therefore by default...but some of us know better. God is a fairy tale and mankind, like all life on earth, is the product of evolution.
Remarkably good for an amateur orchestra. Hard to believe Texas Medical Center has this many musicians who can do this. The conductor has a good grasp of the Mahler idiom.
I programmed this piece myself many years ago. It’s my opinion that the middle section is possibly one of the most beautiful passages that Nelson ever wrote.
