My name is Mark and I am a graphic designer and photographer by trade, but one of my favorite hobbies is getting out into my shop and building or fixing things. I decided to start this channel because I have often gone online looking for ways to build something, only to come up empty and deciding to figure it out on my own. I am hoping that through my trial and error I can provide others with ideas or inspiration to create their own custom projects.
I am a very busy person and I like it that way. You’ll never find me just sitting around. If I’m not tinkering on things around my house then I am probably out doing something that I find exciting somewhere in the wilds of Wyoming.
Just curious why there isn't dehumidification, heat, or other active drying set up? Related to the question, have you watched "The Thoughtful Woodworker" tour of his backyard lumber kiln? Square footage for his building and yours seems relatively similar.
With respect to Wagner and you, Govee has a similar sensor, which I have two of an older model, that looks like it does the same exact thing as the Smart Logger, for up to a 1/10 of the price. Is there anything that really stands out for you for the Smart Logger which someone might purchase the Smart Logger over a Govee?
Thats about as fine of wood working as I get. +/- 1/16” on rough cut lumber 😂 Im kind of surprised it drys that well inside with minimal air flow. I did that once with a birch stack and it grew mushrooms in the stack 😂😂
@@GunflintDesigns big difference from a sealed urethane shop sitting on 80 yards of concrete soaking up and distributing the 37° Alaska ground temp in the summer I guess 🤪
Love your podcast, new to wood working. Using this as a benchmark for my introduction video - I just want a way for people to know who I am and my background. Hard to meet people socially if they don't know that (IMO) so thanks for this.
I can’t get over how obedient your dogs are. I’m not much of a dog person, but they are adorable. I’ve had dogs in my past, and only one was that smart. Unless there was a squirrel of course. 🤣
Yea I made a free target too I basically use 4 peace’s of plywood And 7 peace’s of 2x4 and mounted to a tree cause im shooting at a down ward angle the elevation is weird where I live at some parts in my back yard is flat and some parts are steep it kinda looks like a fuck up desk I built most of it at night in the woods beyond are gate but any ways I’d stuff it with ripped up peace’s of cardboard and foam from seat cushions, I have bad luck with clothes and plastic wrap material sometimes the arrow gets stuck in the fabric and completely pulls out the insert and field point then I went to Home Depot bought a tarp for $5 to keep all the materials compressed inside and to protect the wood from rain I didn’t use paint and I got all the wood for free from various places then I super glued these foam animals on the front of the tarp for my target , the foam animals are the ones u see on baby foam mates u put on the ground so they can crawl they are like small cut outs of small animals inserts that go in the center of the mate sorry kaleb lmao 😂😂… now my second target that’s 30 yards away from my first is going to be massive it’s like 10feet wide 8feet long it’s going to have 3d deer target in front and small archery target above it that I bought from the archery store I just started all the framing in the woods yesterday hopefully I’ll finish it this weekend
Well, you made a turkey out of the first 30 seconds! Great cabin, and the property looks like it's pretty remote. We don't get much snow here in Australia, and 90% of us are glad. The other 10% are frozen. Hope to see more of the build.
Anytime any wood that is untreated touches concrete, you’re inviting problems. Typically, I’d go probably 3/8” above the concrete just to give some wiggle room in case. So the left side, I’d lower even more as well.
I'm enjoying the vlogs between projects. I hope it's taking the pressure off of you trying to get projects done quickly. It was fun seeing Flint and Nox having fun, too...which surprises me because I'm not a pet person at all. Maybe I'm just glad I remembered their names last month. :D
Mark, love your content. You still show what's up around you and what interwsts, which is unique. Too many other creators including D Fisher have fallen into the algorithm trap, and I don't watch him anymore
@@GunflintDesigns Whining isn't a joke, it's just annoying to anyone watching videos. As a content creator, who should want people to subscribe....being aware of this will only help you.
Where are your chaps? Using a chainsaw without them is one slip of the hand or kick of the saw away from suddenly finding out how fast you can put on a tourniquet while going into shock. Buy a pair, don't buy the cheap ones, and wear them.
I work on a golf course. I HATE willow trees with a burning passion. The only good thing about them is they’re not heavy, so moving larger chunks around by yourself isn’t as hard. But still, they’re giant weeds in my opinion 😂
