Rough and tough, yet classic and cool, the Toyota FJ Land Cruiser holds a very special place in the heart of auto enthusiasts across the world. Here at The FJ Company, we share that enthusiasm and love of the iconic FJ. We dedicate ourselves solely to performing full, frame-off restorations of the classic Japanese Toyota FJ20, FJ40, and FJ60 Series Land Cruisers - creating modern versions of this classic ride for today’s driver.
This RU-vid channel features videos showcasing our full restorations, as well as some overland and adventuring we do on our own. We hope you enjoy watching them as much as we do making them!
When these came to South Africa 🇿🇦 in 1972/3, my uncle was first in Cape Town to buy one. It had the GM Chev 3.8l engine and 3spd manual gearbox. Later models had the GM Chev 4.1 engine. In Brazil, Toyota still build these as the Bandeirante, and fits it with the Mercedes-Benz Unimog OM314 engine of yesteryear. We had much adventure in the Cruiser, at the southern tip of Africa, which is at L'Agulhas where the family holiday homes were.
i have a LC76 series in Pakistan which has trooper seats at the back not sofa ones, a sun roof, auto gears and is 1Kz Turbo engine. What is your engine? and what are the other other differences between a 76 and 77 series then?
I like the original FJ40 diesel engine. It sounds like thunder under the hood, terrifying. My brother had an accident in FJ40. His colleague was driving, he fell asleep on the wheel and the car slipped into a ravine. Luckily car was stopped by a tree. On impact my brother fell forward, hit his forehead on the dash (some sharp edges) splitting his forehead skin left to right.
A shame to not restore this to factory detail. The rims should be black. The roof should be the same color blue as the body. The grill cover should be white, not gray. No passenger side mirror from the factory. Engine repaint color is wrong.
