I'm in love with film and music and while the videos I post are all over the place you can assume they're gonna be related to those two topics. I'm always writing music, making short films and watching films and so here's where I post my live performances, film and song reviews and short films. I hope I can share my love for art with y'all.
Idk if anyone else has mentioned this but I wanna shoutout Kishi Bashi’s cover of this song. It’s a pretty unique version and is one of my favorite songs of all time. It is a lot more strings than funk.
As a former history teacher, I just wanted to tell you that this video is really well done! You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into you research, and kudos for including your sources :)
I dont think non sequitur is a fair description of the lyrical phrases its more a stream of consciousness relating to love and loss and the anxiety we all feel around those things, about the games we play with ourselves to guard our heads and our hearts. Pretty sure David Byrne chooses each word very carefully
Ok, yes. I searched for "why is downton abbey so good ". So I may enjoy the show a bit too much. Sorry, not sorry! Lovely musical breakdown. Thank you, Oliver!
I cannot truly explain why, but I call this my favorite song of all time. I will always remember buying the vinyl record the day it was released and dancing alone in my apartment the very first time I heard it just blown away by the words and melody of this song.
Hate to say it because I’m a big Talking Heads fan but The Lumineers do a version of this song that, in my opinion, do the lyrics an updated version with a great voice and make it sound better today. I’m an 80’s kid and I’ll always appreciate the 80’s vibe in a song like this.
Wow, what I hear in this song is desperation and loneliness. Can't imagine anyone listening to the lyrics would find it cheerful. Regardless of interpretation, this is the Heads' masterpiece.
It’s not cheerful but not depressing. I’d describe it as introspective in a way maybe? Like someone taking their partner for granted but then realizing how lucky they are before it’s too late. Idk I can see why someone would say cheerful though
I don't even know if I want to get married, but if I do, I'm for sure including this one in the wedding. If I don't, I will just dedicate it and dance it away. ❤

Teachers: If seventh graders have invading your room during your lunch period and won’t leave you alone, just start playing this song. That’s what my teacher did. We left.
