Hello Everyone,
Welcome to our channel, I'm Ted and my wife is Sherri. We operate a stump grinding and firewood business in southern Illinois. Our operation consists of a 6 acre Mill Lot. My wife is the 4th generation to be in the wood industry on this piece of property. Her father, had a saw mill and when he felt he could no longer do that, he began making firewood and she joined him in the business. We are carrying on the firewood business. Our channel, will take you along on our stump grinding and firewood making adventures. Plus we will show you some of our local history and historic sites in our area. We hope to take you along with us on our adventures, please subscribe and watch for our videos!! If you would like to contact us, our email is stumpsandfirewood@gmail.com

Hi Ted and Sherri. The ash you split up sure looked dryer than 31 percent. Most of it split up so nice. You move that into the open sun as you said it may still make it by mid October. You two really work well together. I’m still working on a stump grinder. You guys take care.

Hello Ted and Sherri. Y’all must have the good Ash over there on the East side!!😂 The stuff I have been splitting has been a stringy tough pain in the ash! I was wondering if you knew what variety of ash you were splitting? I know there is different species. Mine was on the greener side. That might be the difference in how it splits? Take care 👍🏻👍🏻

Todd, I didn't know there was any other ash species. These have been standing dead since 2019. All of our Ash trees died out over that winter. When we had the woods logged, the logger would either cut them down or fall other trees into them to get them down without someone getting hurt or on his machine. Some of them are very brittle and others are solid. We have had some with some serious knots and you wonder if it is actually ASH. Enjoy the weather and stay safe.

Hi Ted. Your 362CS you mentioned that you might be changing the bearing by the cutting wheel. Are you feeling extra vibration under load or what makes you think you need to change them? You mentioned a belt replacement. Is the belt coming off the motor driving the gear box-transmission? So you mentioned 56 diameter stump.So cost should be ? A= 3.14 x radius squared. So r is 28x28 = 784x3.14= 2461.76 x 3.5=8616.16 Holy cow this can’t be right. Or you are making a fortune. What am I doing wrong here? I am sorry for all these questions. I’ll get back later.
@MillersStumpsandFirewood712
@MillersStumpsandFirewood712 23 дня назад
@clubdoraoutdoorsandfirewood Yes a little vibration going on. The belt is from the motor to the upper drive unit. I measure just across the stump however many inches from the exposed roots to the other side of stump.

Al, this grinder we are using we purchased new in 2019 from Vermeer. This is the 3rd unit for our business, since beginning in 2009. The other 2 were both used when we purchased them and they lasted a long time. They were both 25 horse motors, this 1 one is 35 horse.

That is a deep cut. You must be12- 16 inches below grade. Thanks for showing these videos. How do you determine your price on varied sizes of stumps. A 30 inch stump is probably 60- 70 inches below grade. I am all new to this so if I’m way off that’s why.
@clubdoraoutdoorsandfirewood
@clubdoraoutdoorsandfirewood 24 дня назад
That went well. Pine no more. Ted have you ever used a chipper powered by skid loader. What do you think of them? Your Vemeer 362 you must like it a lot. You have ground a lot of stumps with it. You can grind any size stump the way it looks. Typically you cut about 3-4 inches below grade. How bad is the maintenance on your machine. How long do the chippers last and cost? Have a great day. Would you mind if I call you ?
