Hello, need advice and feedback on my approach to the problem:- I segmented the problem into two questions:- a. What is causing the decline? 1. Location problem - Migration of another species, Seasonal changes in the area, Predators, human pushed them out 2. Disease:- any viral infections spreading in the species. 3. Reproduction b. What can be done to contain the decline? Restructing and Operational:- Do they need separate enclosures based on the species need. Awareness:- As it is non profit human interaction might happen and foreign elements might enter in the fox food chain

idk whether or not you can still see my comments, but i think the feature of flashfash that is the rapid process from design to the actual production is missed in the synergy bucket, which could bring benefits to the own brand of lamode.

Potentially with Lamode’s own brand but they are primarily a retailer and the personal brand was said to account for only 5% of sales.

One question popped into my mind: If we had a population decline of a 1000 last year and we see that the decline by natural death + diseases is exceeding birth by 695 we are still missing 300 foxes or am I wrong? If not the reason why we lost ⅓ of the population is still not looked at.

I am a policy analyst, and this video has been very insightful. It would be beneficial to see a case approach for a senior management post from programmes or project perspective. The approach highlights some critical fundamentals in such interview models; however, from a programme perspective, there may be some missing linkages as data may vary if a variable such as gender is introduced and or if the case scenario is highly qualitative rather than quantitative.

Just wondering... It was mentioned there are no revenue synergies, but Flashfash has a 15 day turnaround so could benefit in producing mid market fashion based on luxury brands very quickly. This could help drive growth within Flashfash. Appreciate getting the 'right' answer is t the point here but would this be a sensible approach in the interview?

The issue I have with his structuring approach is that it assumes that the client has data on historic birth and death rates. If they have this then the whole problem is a lot easier to solve, but intuitively I'd say if they had this data then we should have clarified this at the beginning. If the client says that they have no historical data for deaths and births then this structure would be useless.

Unorganised thoughts after pausing video at 2:00 FlashFash sell clothes to gain 25 billion dollars a year They are able to achieve this goal by: - improving the brand image of several of their clothes; or acquiring and selling clothes with an already existing good brand image -sell through Flashfash stores. 70% of clothes are sold through these stores (what is 70% of 25 billion dollars?). --> Therefore, it is important to look after/improve these stores. -30% of clothes sold through multibrand retailers. - FlashFash is US based but multinational. How much percent of their sales is to US people vs to outside of US people? This question will help me to prioritise. Are there brick and mortar Flashfash stores opened overseas outside the US yet? IF NOT, the money saved fromm not acquiring the company, can be used ot open brick and mortar stores overseas. This should be successful as a lot of US people buy from brick and mortar FlashFash stores. Overseas people could and should do the same. I've got to be careful though. What is a 'mid-market brand'? What does 'mid-market' mean? term used to describe "use customer feedback" + "relatively flexible production processes" --> "ramp up products and replensih stores weekly" The thing is: why can't Flashfash competitors do this? How much will it cost to acquire LaMode? I think they can better use this money somewhere else. LaMode isn't even one of their main competitors. This is because people who buy mid market brands do that because they have decided that they don't have the budget to go for those top luxury brands. Don't acquire LaMode. But, I understand that they want to vertically integrate. I can think of a better option of vertical integration for them. Acquisition something you should only really do if you are really sure about it. There has to be A LOT of benefit to be gained. If lots of benefit is not clear, then don't do it. 80-90% of acquisitions shouldn't be done/are bad. Also, there is a big opportunity cost when doing an acquisition. They could use all that money to open up more brick and mortar FlashFash stores (a tried and true method) in new identified hotspot locations. Statistics of some sort can be used to decide on this. They could use Does FlashFash have the skills/know-how to manage and run LaMode if they acquired it? They should acquire for instance the leading retailer of online apparel in all of America. We should look at the statistics regarding all apparel sales to north americans. How much percent of these clothes were obtained from brick and mortar stores and how much percent were obtained from online? Perform Fermi estimate. Now looking at the percentages from previous years, is the percentage being sold online growing? Will it continute to grow even more in the future, if the current percentage being sold online is not that much, and if so, how much more percent will it grow by? That money was to be used for acquisition could be better used elsewhere. For example, using for research into new and better looking clothes styles that are just as cheap or investing in automation robot/software methods (to replace hard human labor) to produce current clothes even cheaper is more worth it, and this intuitively should have a greater impact on revenue/profit. The money could be used to find and scout out even better employees/designers. Fire the bad ones. People make big diff Money spent analysing clothing trends off TikTok/Douyin. It is interesting how the interviewer did not mention any of FlashFashes major competitors and talked about what their current strategies are. If LaMode is a good business, it can be sold later for more money if they don't want to own it anymore Not good. Sometimes people want to try on the clothes before they buy. You cannot do this with an online store. brick and mortar stores can't really be replaced 100% 24:00 data science

A good presentation. I would have wanted to relate the imbalance of gender and disease figures on the map for a possible study of environmental changes due to the road ( and when was the road built )
@cheetah219
@cheetah219 Месяц назад
I agree, I immediately went down the route of road building and gender balancing. Diseases is part of it, but to the interviewers point I would have asked the question if we know this disease is common with foxes or a new emergent. I think what's important about the interviews is that we don't go down a rabbit hole. We stop the framework when we don't have an answer, pull up and go down the next branch. There were numbers around birth and death rates, so it made sense to continue down the path of deaths, but what was interesting was initially the interviewer gave initial insights that deaths wasn't a problem, birth rate was (hence population differences) but then diseases still came up. This is a very good simulation of real life where initially disregarded data comes back as very important (in this case disease)
