Heavy equipment, bull dozers, excavators, trucks, land clearing, dirt work, and all the shenanigans involved therein. I like to share with and learn from, real folks like us. No bias, no agenda, no planned intentions. Just having a good time doing what we do and paying it forward; I have learned A LOT from videos folks like us have put up RU-vid, so hopefully some videos we upload may help someone with a machine repair, or a tricky situation on a jobsite, or even dealing with the everyday stress of this line of work.....sometimes its nice to know your not the only fool going through it!

Where is Short Mountain ? There is a Short Mountain in East Tennessee off Hwy 11W west of Rogersville. A sand mine named Short Mountain Sand Inc. White sand makes glass, golf course sand traps, University of Tennessee used 100,000 tons when they went back to grass.

One would think to put those cables underground. Our country has almost 100% underground and we basically never have power failures.

Yeah like James said, lots of solid rock. The cost of installation, additions, and updating lines when rock is involved is more costly than the very few times we actually have extreme weather and have costly emergency repairs.

@@jamesmckay9966 I live in Finland, which is basically rocks and forest😊But it‘s true what Adams is saying, they are jacking up the prices of the transfer of electricity, different company than the electric company. Still we do enjoy one of the lowest prices in Europe, which is very stable. They started doing this many many years ago and the Infrastructure is in pretty good shape here. This is a long term solution though, i understand that not everyone is willing to do that.

hear me you guy south .like told cottontop ,,never ever apply heat like that to frozen steal, can blow up in your face ..just throw old pond water on to it .. pond water in gen about 40 to 45 degrees ..we do to all kind build material's get ice off .. also 12+ inches of covered Hay can take 2 feet hard frost out ground in 2- 4 days at even at 20 below ,, after pour water over Then started and run Dozers ..we deal with this all time in back woods N.H and Maine
@adamsexcavatinglandmanagem7593
@adamsexcavatinglandmanagem7593 2 года назад
Never heard that about the steel before, I knew it could cause serious warpage, but not explode. Which I didnt put direct heat on it either, I fanned the flame towards it but never let it make direct contact. I just wanted to melt the ice without getting the steel hot and melting my rubber gaskets on the door or the seals on the lift cylinders. I normally fully retract cylinders on an excavator if we know there is a chance of ice, but I dont like leaving the dozer blade in the air, its a little dangerous. Good info about the hay thawing the ground.

Yeah they had chains on but they could not go up the road on their own until the second or third day we were there. Its mostly a gravel road with some tar and chip blacktop, but its in pretty rough shape, which is why we could get a dozer on it. After clearing the road and pulling a few trucks up it, the dozer had broken up the gravel/ice mixture enough that the trucks could go up and down,

Is that not given each and every time pay your power bill??? You act like they do this for free and dont charge you for power.These people get PAID big money and dont just go out to do this free of charge. Ask Adams to show you the bill paid for this service.
@adamsexcavatinglandmanagem7593
@adamsexcavatinglandmanagem7593 2 года назад
Try duck is rite, they do get paid well, but its still a dangerous job, and I'm glad they do it. We could name of thousands of professions that are difficult/dangerous/stressful/whatever, and try to compare the amount of negatives to the amount of pay,..but why waste the time? Lets just pat each other on the back and be thankful for what each other does. If we think one profession pay is a little bit too high,...then I suggest trying to get into that profession! lol. He is also rite about us getting paid to do this, we did get paid for our services, and this is something that was risky, was an emergency, and was somewhat of a "name your price" situation, yet that is not what we did. I did charge more than our usual hourly rate, but nothing outrageous, because if I did, we would never work for the electric department again, and I dont want that. Thats the free market at work, checks and balances. Plus, I pay an electric bill...I dont want to throw crazy expenses at a company that is going to turn rite around and pass it down the line to me and my fellow man. If everyone did that we would all be in terrible shape.

My last comment, This was so educational to show us what it takes and how all of you people take care of us when a storm hits and I for one am proud of all that choose to go out in that kind of weather to clear trees, roads, to fix the electric lines to help all of us. So proud of people like you making this video and the rest that helped.

And just think the Biden adminstration are telling all of us we must go all electric vehicles. So when storms like this hit there will be no way any electric vehicle would be able to do the job and with electricity out they would not be able to recharge any way.

I always front load the dozer onto the deck so the blade acts as a counter weight on and on. Cuts down the pucker quite a bit. Love to see the up mountain drive when it's not snowy.
@adamsexcavatinglandmanagem7593
@adamsexcavatinglandmanagem7593 2 года назад
We always load it with the blade facing backwards just for the safety. We figure if something happens like the trailer getting off in the ditch due to someone running us off the road, and the blade hits a big tree or other large obstruction, its more likely to glance off it as opposed to hooking into it if it was facing forward. Same for other vehicles on the road, if someone was to hit the blade, we'd rather it glance off than peel the whole side of the vehicle open like a can opener lol. It would feel good to say the idiot driver would get what they deserve regardless, but you never know, even good drivers have accidents. Plus, if they were just simply idiots, they could have innocent kids in the vehicle, and we don't want them to have to pay for their parents idiocy lol.
