I don't like Terraria because of the horror theme it had and thought Starbound would be nice. I played it for a time but quit after playing for a few weeks. One problem I found was the advancement menu was one size fits all mentality. Another thing I found disgusting was a cadaver, being a food source for any race in the game. I quit after finding this out. I will not be playing it again. Very disappointing.
I played Starbound and I think it is promising. People don't give up on games - the best thing they could do is revamp it and make it fresh, apologise and create ties with Toby and other game devs. It's about PR and marketing. If you are a crappy human, no matter how good your game is... you will not succeed.
My sister and I had played Starbound because we were looking for a game to play with our nephews. But as soon as the option to eat a corpse from a mercenary npc came up as a food option, human to human; we quit it and looked for other games instead. I can understand for another race within the game to see others as food, but of the same Race? That just yelled lazy to me when you can't even separate the food requirements between the civilizations. Getting to know the food options and making the different dishes was time consuming just because the list was so long; as all options for food for every single race was in that same menu list. Never mind the fact of just trying to find those ingredients. It was a big disappointment.
The very reason why I never bought the game, even though it's next to nix now; and why I only pirated the story game -- R* are just beyond the pale for above-80 I. Q. consumers with their shameless and insulting fleecing, for what are over-priced and over-budget games to begin with. R* haven't made an ONNOVATIVE game since Vice City, The Warriors, and RDR(1). If GTA6 is more of the same, it might be the end of all R* online games for a generation... Which could be a good thing, IF that added co-op proper to their games.

I went back to this game earlier this year and I found that it's aged quite well. I had a lot of fun with it and didn't speed run what little story there is. I did a lot of building, loads of settlement missions and burned through shit tonnes of rocket fuel and by the time I was done I'd put in about 400h. It wasn't what they promised, no, but that didn't stop it being enjoyable for me(:
can't believe 460k people saw this video. Famous failed game with 90% positive review ? If you think a game failed because devs finished the game instead of keeping it alive as a service for years, it isn't starbound that failed.
Sorry but the video starts with a whole lot of bullshit and I won't continue watching. Turtle Rock's involvement after Valve came into the picture was minimal in comparison, Valve had taken over most of the heavy lifting and in the end it was more their game than Turtle Rock's. Just checking the credits backs this up and you screwing this up just tells me the research was fumbled for this video.
I thought the game was fun for a little bit but then it got old and boring. I completely agree with everything you said in the video. The difficulty spikes were insane, I never beat the game because of it.

I got this game free on the epic launcher and it's so bad I want to refund it... I've seen games developed by a single person that are more polished than this crap. Everything is bad from the writing to acting to models to gameplay to physics. Jesus christ
The success of GTAO changed Rockstar from a company really worked with the fans to one that just wanted to milk them. GTA5 had planned story DLC that was dropped. After all, why spend so much time and money on extra content for the main game, when basic content for the online version will make more money. RDRO was the second child to them, except this one was never going to pull in the money that the first child did. A game set in the modern world means limitless options for change and additions. A game set in a certain period of the past is limited by just that. Rockstar should've realized RDRO was never going to make a billion a year like GTAO does, but it could still have been fully supported. Sadly, all that means time and effort for something that's not going to give them the same huge return as their other game. The second child may be better overall, but the first one is pulling in the money so that's who gets the attention.
Minecraft is still very good but back then times were simpler we were kids and grown attach to whatever verisons of our world with our friends when minecraft was more innocent and we had time to play but nowadays Minecraft way better than the older verisons but with mods, people criticizing over little things,people grow up and see the world different now and Minecraft not being as innocent from "look at my awesome world" or "Today me and my friends beat the enderdragon!" But now Minecraft has more of"Dream smp!","Hardcore solo","Join bendersmc" and crap now still good bur to us older players Minecraft is way different cuz we grew up and social media looks at games different than us
The state of the game now is how it should have launched. Me and a couple friends who compekted L4D 1 and 2 were super excited for B4B but the extreme difficulty put us off of it. We have recently come back to it and it's great now. Being able to have your full deck right off the bat and higher supply point drops makes the game soooooo much better. It's a shame that it's dead in the water now. Imo this is how the game should have launched.
Some games don't any complicated levelling or card systems. They work solely off their simplistic and fun design. L4D was like that. Pick up and play. So many game companies these days seem to not trust their own product so fill it with stuff it doesn't need, that ends up distracting and damaging the main game itself.
I told my dupes to mine out a water reservoir and one mined the block below him and fell into 20 tile deep water, a month later ( I had forgotten about it) I was repurposing a big space I found and had a heart attack when I saw a random body in a massive hole full of CO2, I then quit that save for 3 weeks because I thought my game was haunted.
Being transparent I did enjoy starbound when it came out, but I largely was unaware of the drama behind it, nor did I play terraria to compare it too, that being said knowing what I do now might have clouded my enjoyment of the game.
havent heard of that in years... the only i remember is having fun playing when races had their own opinions of each other like being neutral or shoot on sight, played the entire campaign as a plantfolk even, late i replayed the new lore and was done very fast because it got boring fast
They should sell their game. Give the rights over to another company so they have a chance to update the game or make the storyline better as well as the game in general. Makes me sad how this game just … died.
