I bought the Garmin force 50" for my boat and it is amazing in so many ways i love it and would buy again... Super powerful, quiet, and i love it integrated with my 2 93 uhd fish finder's... I troll alot for walleye and love creating a route on my couch and then using it on the lake
Had several issues with my Hook 7TS and after 2 warranty replacements they sent me the new Eagle 7TS and I can tell you there is a night and day difference in 2D, DI and SSc. Very very pleased with this unit.
Also, under chart options, you can select the genesis layer feature. If it doesn't show contours on smaller lakes and / or backwater areas. It will display contours if it were mapped by locals, and they made made it shareable when they uploaded to cmap genesis.
I feel like you could've lightly sanded the corners to help blend in that square that was left from the tape.... I realize most would not see it but it sticks out if you know what to look for, and it would've only been an extra step or two... still good video and thanks for the info.
If i have a VX Lakemaster card will I be able to view that map on the other unit as well when hooked up to the network? Nobody has answered that question anywhere online
Thanks for the helpful video. Just wanted to mention that I found a step down marine grade but connector to connect the 10ga wire to the 14ga graph wire on Amazon. Makes it super simple to connect the two wires.
I've used one of these for over a year . I have a lowrance 12 live on it . I'm TOTALLY happy with it . The unit also came from Russell , the cust rep that I spoke with was extremely helpful
Just purchased Lowrance Active 2, this video is extremely helpful in being able to interpret what I'm seeing on the screen and how to adjust for a better outcome! 6-12-24
Love the video but mine just doesn’t seem to work on my 1243xsv. When transferring it keeps saying transfer paused. I have gone through the trouble shooting and all is correct. It then goes back to transferring. Back and forth. Also, how does the chart plotter know which card to format. The unit came with one in the right slot and I added one to the left slot. 32 gig. After 30 min. Garmin unit went back to startup screen. When I hit agree it then showed no active capt connection after previously showing all connected. I am lost at what to do. Plan to call you on Monday but I won’t be at the boat. Frustrated as hell!
Kinda pointless video if you are not going to share you testing/ research data for the various brands. Everyone can NOT afford to buy multiple batteries to do their own discovery.
Your deal on the HDS 10 Pro Refurbs are a real option. I got two mounts for my Pro 9 from you and surely appreciate the metal versus plastic which I feel was a huge downgrade from my Carbon 9s.
How do you wire in a boat orientation sensor to the mix, the Garmins don't come with one and trying to square up on offshore structure is impossible without one. Can you address that issue and why aren't you educating buyers to this issue? I regret going with Garmin after installing them on my boat and heading out to my structure in the middle of the lake and finding there is no gps boat orientation sensor and you go one way and the sensor on the boat goes the other, wow was I pissed. And I'm guessing you guys are aware of this situation and why aren't you mandatorily wiring in one of those to your units? What say you on the subject?
Great video, I just bought a Garmin GPSMAP 743xsv. I am going to have it professionally flush mounted. I noticed that there is an SD card in one of the 2 slots which is in the rear of the unit. I am not sure what's on the card. Should I leave it in or take it out. I did install a blank card into the second slot, what should I do?
The problem I have with Lowrance is many of the basic features are near impossible to find. A friends default settings on his unit (right out of the box) don't even look like my default settings and we have the exact same unit. I can't even find where the frequency setting even is on his unit and I've looked basically everywhere for it. I kayak fish and the most important things I want in my unit are these: 1. I hate the way the basic sonar screen looks. The depth numbers are way too small and the color is way too dark. 2. Same goes for the temperature setting. 3. I still can't find where the speed icon is or how to place that on the sonar screen. 4. I would want to configure down, side scan etc all the same 5. I still can't find the color palette tabs either These are all very basic things that should precede everything you discussed. I've never had ANY of these issues with a Hummingbird and only bought a Lowrance unit because they fit in my Hobie kayak. I love my Hobie's but their arrangement with Lowrance was a huge mistake in my mind. I've had nothing but problems with both of the units I've purchased from them. The technology may be great but they are absolutely clueless as to how to simplify many (not all) of the basic operations of the unit. I feel like they're speaking Chinese to me when I'm speaking English. I'm not knocking your video- it is helpful. I'm knocking Lowrance because unit after unit, year after year they still can't simplify their units basic operations despite their claims.
Great video! I used this information to power my units. I do have one issue. I am running a 93sv at the bow and at console. The one at the bow is 12.7v and the one at the console is 13.6v. Both on individual runs with 10g wire to dedicated lithium battery. Why is there such a difference in voltage?
Good morning I am looking for the y cable and cables to get my Helix 9 chirp mega DI + GN4, MEGA 360 ultrex 2 model 411830-1 and ultrex 80/ us2/1PLink-52"BT troling motor need the y cable and whatever I need to get 360 to work I have one eternity dongle from hummingbird AS EC QDE PART # 720074-1 thanks Joe Turner I got my Helix 9 from you on that camouflage SeaArk can you do video on how and what cables to connect Helix 9 mega g4n,humminbird 360 and ultrex with external transducer and show the cords needed how and where they connect thanks Joe
So if I just run a Helix Si G4N and Helix Di G4N I can just run a Ethernet cable between them? I have the Mega Live and I want to use it on either unit so I would need the Ethernet Switch to connect all three. I want it for my dash unit when scouting and using Mega Live and then the back unit while trolling or anchor fishing. We fish mainly for Salmon and Steelhead. Plus Kokanee and Trout on the lakes. I was actually told by dealer I bought the Di unit from that it will not use the Si off my Helix 12 Si G4N. I thought that was wrong. Person I talked to, not your company, was pretty good but I guess there is too much to know and not everyone that is involved with selling has all the information. I was told that the Mega Live can be connected to the Ethernet Switch and be used by both units.
Other than screen size, what are the major differences between the HDS Pro 12 and HDS Pro 10? Is there a processing speed difference between both units?
Thanks RMP for the video. Question on dedicated power, I have Lowrance HDS9s and I'd like to run dedicated power to them but remove them from the boat while in storage. Can I wire the power directly to the battery using the O-rings and eliminate the need for the on/off switch? There won't be any parasitic draw if nothing is connected to the other side of the power wire, correct?
I am flush mounting (2) 943xsvs hooked to a GMS 10. I have a navionics vision + card . What ports do the map card and the AC card have to be in so I don’t mistake my map card for the AC card ?
