Man amazing is generous! It was a tough bite and you fellas busted your butts on both boats to make the most of the limited opportunities we presented y’all with.
Thanks for watching dude! I will tell her you said hello. I didn't see you at our Youth Summer fishing camps this year, you ought to come out next year. Make sure to spend as much time as you can outside hunting, fishing, exploring and playing sports. You will thank me when you're old and crusty like me (Landry's dad) 🤣
The dispatch is the least brave part of the hunt. We had to catch it with a rod and reel. Then put a hand snare around its neck. I then had to grab the thrashing alligators open mouth by the snout, hold it shut while a team member then electrical taped its mouth shut so it could be measured. We then returned it to the water for this not brave moment. The scariest part was releasing gators. We had to remove the electrical tape before the snare, and that meant getting snare off was bare handed around an open mouthed gator. You weren’t there so you couldn’t know this, but it was wild.
This may be the smartest comment on the internet. I appreciate your understanding that a clip of a moment is not the moment. You’re welcome to hop on the boat any day. I could probably learn something from you!
That’s not a very nice thing to say, Dr. Hansen. This was a single clip from a night of alligator hunting. We have to catch them with a rod and reel and then snare them to get to this point. Only alligators that meet conservation status length are killed, and every single ounce of the alligator is eaten or otherwise used.
Because MS has an alligator program to ensure they do not become overpopulated. They issue 960 tags per year and hunters that are awarded them are expected to ethically, legally, and in accordance with wildlife management practices harvest two alligators over four feet long, only one of which may be over 7 feet.
To be honest, I thought about editing out. This was a boat of drug free, alcohol free dads with two kids on board. We were all so nervous. The laugh did not reflect the somber nature of what was felt by most on that boat.
Is each one set up for different depths? How deep are you fishing and is it on the bottom or off the bottom? Do you make different sizes for the different depths of the lake or how’s it going?
They don’t come rigged. I try to tie my most of mine to fish near the thermocline (around 22 feet). But different lakes that are shallower will require adjustments to rigging. So no, these aren’t each set up to different depths, but even in the same lake I will have some at 10, 15 and 20 feet deep.
