hi, may i ask. for IT12, is it acceptable to add the tolerance tighter (into IT11) or looser (into IT13) in the drawing? If the drawing specific that we must use IT12, is tighter or looser acceptable or not ? Thank you

I don't know which two-part title I have to prepare for. For beginners or the best software for engineers. Catia, NX is everything else, just not for beginners. For beginners, I personally recommend Fusio360 or Alibre Design. Of course you can build simple components with Inventor etc., but up to a certain level. Programs like MegaCad, also a top dog in the industry, should also be mentioned if you use NX, Inventor! TopSolid, for example. etc. is used for the design and production of geometries, components and groups in the mechanical manufacturing industry, sheet metal and wood processing, also a very good software but not for beginners. My opinion. Great video.

If the 4'th container is currently manufactured and measured at 26.5 (USL), how will it fit the gap as the Largest gap((A-B)max) possible is 26! It will not. Hence the statement in the NOTE in table - "Worst case dimensions are within the target design spec limits" would not hold true. For the 4'th container if manufactured and measured at 12.5 (LSL) and upto 26 would definitely fit the gap. Need some clarity on the above thing but such a nicely explained video!! Thank you very much!

hello, we are not secondary school students. stop putting background music in your videos. which is very distracting while listeing to your instruction. although your videos are very informative and helpful, but background music has made it worse.

What is the standard for choosing fits? And how do we know the standard chart is based on hole basis or shaft basis? Some chart contain zero line touching both shaft and hole at some point Confused please help

Tolerance of The Hole : UL-LL = 30.5-29.5=1 Tolerance of The Shaft: UL-LL = 30.5-29.5=1 Size of the shaft is 30 Fundamental Deviation of The Shaft = 0 ( Because its a shaft basis system) Fundamental Deviation of the hole = 0.5 Lower limit of size of hole = 30 -0.5 = 29.5 Upper limit of size of shaft = 30 +0.5= 30.5 Worst case for assy. = 29.5 - 30.5 = -1(-ve clearance) So this is interference fit. Upper limit of size of hole = 30 + 0.5 = 30.5 Lower limit of size of shaft = 30 - 0.5 = 29.5 Best case for assy. = 30.5 - 29.5 = 1 ( +ve clearance) So this is clearance fit.

You can start with higher grade if allowed by function and reduce the tolerance if needed.

if u got a spacer of 5.8 mm and a groove of 4.4 mm i.e the worst case of it , how can it fit there then??

Actually the spacer width can vary from 4.2 to 5.8, but the gap is varying from 4.4 to 5.6. So basically the gap is less than the spacer and we cannot fit the spacer in the groove. But in video you are telling we can fit it.

I beg to differ. Imagine you are Design Leader of Seating Subsystem. You have to deal with plastic, sheetmetal, foam, casting, forged and machined parts and also prototypes. Without knowledge of manufacturing processes in details, it becomes challenging to lead subsystems or systems projects. Off course, you don't learn overnight. But one has to learn these processes over the time if you wish to grow in your product design career.
