My T420 has 16GB ram, and I just threw an old ssd into it. I see ebay has used chips for ~$25 shipped. Eh. Having to upgrade the ps too kind of puts it over the edge given that there is no sata3 or usb3 in this unit. My unit is headed for craigs list.
Have the latest bios AND a 90w power brick, but for whatever reason, the thing just doesn't want to boot. Powers on, fan runs, can feel the heat sink warming up. No boot. Tried reseating the cpu a couple of times. Nothing Tried reseating the ram. Nothing. Tried replacing the CMOS battery. Nothing. Does anybody have an idea why this is? Cause otherwise I can only assume the seller I purchased from lied.
@Fatal1tyKill You are correct. As it turns out, there were some nearly inperceptible, but very much present, burn marks on the cpu die. Luckily the seller had a good return policy and I managed to find another working example of the cpu which worked no problem. All's well.
The original processor of this laptop runs at 35 watts and the Core i7 runs at 45 watts, how do you resolve that difference? Place a 45 watt power supply, I think (I don't know) it can burn several components of the motherboard, please help me.Thanks .
Hi. Don’t know if you’re still around. The i7 processors go pretty cheap now used as does the 90 watt charger. So, I’ve upgraded the ram to 16gb and got 1 tb ssd. Shopping around for the proc. Is it okay to update the BIOS with i5 still in, while I’m shopping around?
I have a completely stock T420 which I'm using right now, and I'm gonna try to upgrade it as much as I can for absolutely no reason. I use this laptop for school n' such because I already have an HP OMEN at home. I want to know, what is the most powerful processor this thing can handle? What would it take to install it?
This is a nice tutorial & reference video! I picked up two T420 laptops for free and swapped out the display from the dead one, luckily i got the 1600x900 version of the display. Since upgrading to i7-2670QM works well, I'm planning to upgrade it to i7-2860QM because it has 8MB cache instead of the 6MB from 26xxQM and 27xxQM processors. Will it work without modded BIOS?
Not a fan of the auto resolve tbh. Also with crtl A, you can use the attack move on a location when selecting units. When moving, they’ll also attack anything in their path, even the AV-7s will automatically deploy during that. Also, I’m surprised that the devs limited the Hyena Bombers to Trench and not in every other space station/ship. Also also, I’m surprised that they still didn’t add the Y-Wings and still have those other bombers
How can I turn this laptop for games? I upgraded hdd to 1T and (2) 8g memory cards, is that the limit I can put on it!?, and all im missing now is the processor!!!. Everything else I already had from my old PS3!.
Watching that Star Destroyer destroying the MC80 AND a Legacy Class Star Was like watching your big brother beat the hardest boss on a video game. So entertaining XD
t420's are total fucking beasts! the way laptops SHOULD BE. totally upgradeable. these things run forever. i have one with the i5, 16 gb ram, 500 gb ssd....the thing screams
@@soyozzz I also upgraded mine to 16GB RAM and 512GBSSD. I took out the DVD drive, put in a caddy and now use that slot for the HDD (as additional storage). The T420 is the ultimate laptop
When you're on the bricklink home page hover over the "Want" tab or "heart symbol", a list will appear, you need to click "Upload". Now you should see two options "Upload a file from your computer" and "Upload BrickLink XML format", you need to click "Upload BrickLink XML format" that's where you paste the text. I hope this helps, if something doesn't work, ask.

@@emiledlund9559 No more phase 2 clones, you have to research tech levels at a time now instead of just stealing blueprints for different ships etc like the acclamator, lots and lots of crashes and more
@@Fatal1tyKill Everything in the video was well explained I think I did everything right as I mentioned in the comment Im on bios version-1.52 which is the latest one

hello ... i have laptop lenovo T420 Intel Core i5-2520M CPU 2.50GHz, Can i upgrade it with Intel Core i7 3632QM CPU 2.2GHz ? is okay or not ? Can i make upgrade RAM for 4GB to 16GB ? Is it available to him when I make an external screen card? Thank you so much >>>>>
The CPU might work, but depends on the bios. 16GB ram upgrade will work from what I can tell. You can read the forums forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/t420-4236-and-16GB-RAM-support/td-p/1235327
