@@WillDracott In the settings (cog icon in the bottom right of the playback) you can set the play back at down to quarter speed, so that should be enough to see what is going on. Personally, I think this speed is ideal, as I can watch it even at double speed and see the route quickly, and just slow it down for the bits I haven't seen before on the other routes.
I just had a practice here today. The road was not clear so I waited before the yellow box. Some cars in front were already on the box. And then the car behind started to sound their horn to me. It seems that it's a tradition that they ignored the rule and tried to force me to do the same. That's a bit pressure for learners drivers.
It is just me in the car during this video. Which test route would you like commentary on? The reason for not doing this previously is that they're 40 minutes long and wasn't sure anyone would be interested.
Hello Will, My examiner took me through this route, but I failed to follow the road signs towards M5. Please can you explain all the challenging things on this route please?
Hi, sorry for not replying sooner. I'm not great with social media. The signs for the M5 start by Henbury leisure centre. Left at the mini R/B. You follow this road over the bumps, over the bridge and past the rugby club until you come to the 50 mph, Cribbs Causeway R/B. Here you go straight on. This is a 50 mph dual carriageway, the signs you'll be asked to follow now are for Filton, which is right, 2nd exit at the next R/B. It's only 40 mph down here. You'll then switch back to following signs for the M5. Which is left at the large traffic light controlled R/B. I think this next bit is the tricky section. You'll then be asked to follow signs for Bristol. Keep to the left. When the new lane forms on your left, get in it. A new sign shows Bristol off to the left with an arrow pointing up and diagonally off to the left. It's a gentle left turn (5:03 time stamp) Then very suddenly it's the end of the road. The give way signs and markings are here to warn you that traffic (potentially high speed traffic) is coming from your right. When it's clear, emerge. Head to the next R/B and it's straight across, left 1st exit at the next and your back in Henbury at the Crow Lane R/B.
The extended test is for those who have been disqualified and need to retake their exam. They have a different test to a regular learner and this is one of the test routes at Bristol's Avonmouth test centre.
Hey Will, just passed my test yesterday with 2 minors and I was looking back through all these videos to try and find the route I took. This was it! Thanks to this video I was already pretty familiar with the route so thanks a bunch. My manoeuvre was a forward bay park in the BGC Cash and Carry car park just round the corner from the TC on Kings Weston Ln. Legend!
There are probably around 20 routes, each will be different in some way or another. These are sadly all the recorded routes we currently have. Things slowed down around Christmas regarding tests, but hopefully soon we'll be able to post more routes soon.
Failed my first test last week at avonmouth test centre. It was crazy busy, i couldnt even sit down in the waiting area because all the chairs were taken. Car park was as bad. 1 bay available lol didnt help my nerves much but no excuses I done alright on the test other than what I failed on which was driving too slow on higher speed roads. I was looking and looking for signs because i wasnt too sure in places. But they seemed really sparse to me on the stretches of road I was on.
There could be 11 candidates all going out in test at the same time here at the moment. This is due to Southmead test centre being closed. I was told yesterday by the Avonmouth TC manager that they're looking for a new Southmead area site as it's just too busy here at this test centre. Southmead closed November 5th, it's the 13th today so it didn't take long to realise closing Southmead without a replacement site wasn't the greatest of ideas.
Yeah totally. Southmead was my original test centre booking. Had 40 hours of lessons based around it before getting an email 2.5 weeks out saying it was being relocated and they were sorry they had to switch me to Avonmouth. Again not ideal for me but I tried my best to handle it all Just came up short
@@shannyk6747 We all had around 2/3 weeks notice before the move. Not great for students and instructors alike. Can I ask which road you were going to slow on? The main, busy road that runs along the coast line (St Andrew's road) does have very signs, but apparently, according to the TC manager, the driving examiner should tell you about this as encourage you to speed up.
Im actually not sure. There was a point when I had a van overtake me quite aggressively while i was going 30mph. That set alarm bells ringing so it mustve been a 40. I think it was the (40) signs i missed because i saw the national speed limit sign when i hit the stretch of road in the video just after those temporary traffic lights where the workmen are based. But even then i didnt go to 60. Closer to 45/50mph. My test was on the 7th and conditions were so bad with rain. I wasnt encouraged or told to speed up at any point in the test. Test paper shows Progress, appropriate speed, 3 marks/minors that have then become a major I assume. My examiner was wasnt hanging around after the test, and gave me a very brief talk on why I`d failed and then was off like a shot lol It was extremely busy that day like you said so I get that
@@shannyk6747 There are so many changes of speed signs in the test route area, it's easy to miss them. You'll get it next time. Good luck and thanks for the feedback.
Hate to state the blindingly obvious to you mucker but at high speed, unless you are a rally driver or a presenter on Top Gear, you certainly aren't going to want to turn the wheel through 90 degrees anyway.
You're right. We do have two other videos which shows you how to reverse around the corner with the camera out the back, showing you what you would see from behind the wheel.
