My daddy used to have some of Justin Wilson’s records and I would listen to them . I was around 15 years old and I was born in 1962 so that was around 1975. He made me laugh all the time and I loved the way he talked and his jokes were so funny to me. Little did I know that in 1991 on December 23rd that me and my daughter would move to Lake Charles Louisiana with my brother and sister in law for a couple of months until we got our own house and I would fall in love with their culture, food and the Cajun people speaking Cajun!! I absolutely love it!!
He sometimes calls cheddar cheese American cheese, sometimes he calls it cheddar, and sometimes he calls it rat-trap cheese. I've never seen him use actual American cheese.
Mom loved his show! I was thinking about it the other day and looked it up on here. I care for her and my dad now so I called her in the room to watch a few. When I tell you the smile she had on her face watching this. I loved that more than the show❤.
This is my favorite of all of the cooking series he did. I learned many things about outdoor cooking from this one. I have all the episodes on a VCR tape recorded from channel 13 in Dallas, Texas. I would love to see more of these.
I am tellingbmy age. I watched him on Saturday I think when I was young. My mom was a cajun cook and I guess I was doing homework. After she died, I figured iyt fast tgat i had all of her recipes but my fave. Her rice dressing. I have 20-30-40 cook books but no handwritten rice dressing recipe. Again my fave. I feel likean idiot. I guarontee!
For all the black people who keep saying they remember him fondly, also remember that he was a staunch segregationist and thought blacks were inferior to whites. A little food for thought (no pun intended).
If that's true I respect him for sticking to his beliefs and showing out for his people. We forgive his faults and celebrate the wonderful cooking he brought to the world.
Vegetable oil instead of solid shortening? WTF, Dude? That dough texture is a hot mess. You better work a bunch of flour into it. Those are going to be dry as Arizona in June.
Be careful about watching this video, has an advertisement during it that has sexual suggestions , at least it did when I watched it. Sad because i love this Chef.
Knowing his love for humor, he probably would have raised an eyebrow and had a chuckle. He can still be your favorite chef no matter what commercial advertising they roll during the program...lol. It's not like it is endorsed by Justin Wilson himself...lol
