Man he was a daredevil but not only that he was a family man and a man of one passion speed I'd I think his idea of going skiing and doing motor cross definitely better then the Jim you can count me in bud best thing is herring his voice truly a gentleman and a champion truly a top man an absolute legend RIP two those that passed in the crash that very day 🙏🙏🙏
I might be better than colin, my icon in motor racing. Only because in tbe philippines, we have no snow... i was born the same year as he but i was more a passionate driver than him... not seen an opportunity to drive professional rally though....
Colin was the salt of the earth person,he was everybody's hero not only because of his amazing driving talent but he would talk with the ordinary motor sport fan at the services. The likes of McRae are few and far between in this World, the only other to be like Colin is Ari Vatanen another great driver.
digitalradiohacker It's like he said in an earlier part. "We're here for a good time, not a long time" Something that really exemplifies his famous motto of "If in doubt, flat out"
had the privillage 2 watch collin fly past. should ave seen him about 8 times but u know him he wrapped up pushinging 2 the limit b4 he got 2 our stage. 1st time was the best rally car ive ever seen he cut a corner over a 12 foot gorge. i dont think he knew it waz there but he was going so fast it waz horizontal and not even a bump. he ruined my rallys for future cause i aint seen nothing like it since. second waz spectacular. but our stage through the welsh mountains was sum ov the last. so colin ended up in the ditch 9/10 b4 i seen him. rip dont think i'll ever c tha type ov drivin again. sry bout spellin. its late. g nit
The techniques can be similar. The cars aren't too different however there are multiple cars on the track at the same time where as in rally you are normally on your own. The biggest difference is that in rallycross you can learn the track where as rally is done on point to point stages which are very hard to learn and you have a co driver with pace notes warning you what's ahead
reading the wiki article about the cause of his helicopter crash is quite depressing. He went too low at high speed and caused an avoidable crash.. His 5 year old son was also in the chopper:( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_McRae
Not only his 5 year old son but a friend and his 6 year old kid too 😞 I find it sadly predictible when you see the flying in this video. You may be a world class rally driver, but it is sadly predicitble to see in this video when you see the way he is flying. Talking the talk, without acting upon it. Says you have to "abide by the rules and limitations of the helicoptor"... only to cut into a video of him tree hugging his way along a track at maximum speed 🤦♂️
@@Superterminal there is also talk that graham duncan was recording and droped a camera and knocked the stick as he was picking it up as colin hadnt had the dual controls removed from passenger side and it sent it of course how true that is we will never know and he was only flying 5 mins up the road to a mates farm and was returning home
My aunt refused to give him a control time because only nicky grist arrived at the control with no car.. the car was in a ditch further down the road :')
Rememba the cars bak n the 90s wer mch more difficult 2 drive has less gadets on them, plus they wer 5speeds then came the paddle shift. U cn nt compare loeb 2 colin different eras. Both r legendary ther own rite.
The only thing I can't get over is his dang son was in the helicopter with him when it went down. What despair he must have had in his last seconds. RIP
