Hi! I'm Cody. I'm twenty eight years old, and have been making mashups since October of 2012! I'm still improving every day, and getting your opinion on my mashups would highly be appreciated! It just helps me improve!
lyrics: (Pompeii) Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu (viva la viva) I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning, I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own (Pompeii) Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu Eh, eheu, eheu I was left to my own devices Many days fell away with nothing to show And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love Grey clouds roll over the hills bringing darkness from above (viva la viva) I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin' Roman Cavalry choirs are singin' Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field For some reason, I can't explain Once you'd gone, there was never, never an honest word And that was when I ruled the world (Pompeii) We were caught up and lost in all of our vices In your pose as the dust settled around us And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love Grey clouds roll over the hills bringing darkness from above But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like you've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? Oh, where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? Oh, oh, where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? (chorus viva la viva) (Pompeii) But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like you've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this?If you close your eyes Does it almost feel like nothing changed at all? (ending chorus viva la viva)
This mashup i picture Louis Xvi singing viva la vida which I believe is the perpestive the song was originally intending to bring up and Pompeii being sung by a French citizen reflecting on the French Revolution during Napoleon Bonaparte rise to power.
On that subject, another connection with these songs is they both had the potential for AMAZING music videos that didn't happen. Bastille could have dressed up as ancient Italian citizens walking through the streets of Pompeii as Mt. Vesuvius erupts while singing the song. Chris Martin could have dressed up as Louis XVI, the scene being him looking out the windows of his palace while the citizens try and force their way in, singing Viva La Vida. The ending phrase with the vocals fading out would have him in the guillotine looking up at the blade about to swing down "never an honest word, but that was when I ruled the world...". Both bands are alive and still famous, so my hope is some production crews make it happen with the amazing CGI tech we have today.
I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning, I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes Listen as the crowd would sing Now the old king is dead, long live the king One minute, I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin' Roman Cavalry choirs are singin' Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field For some reason, I can't explain Once you'd gone, there was never, never an honest word And that was when I ruled the world It was a wicked and wild wind Blew down the doors to let me in Shattered windows and the sound of drums People couldn't believe what I'd become Revolutionaries wait For my head on a silver plate Just a puppet on a lonely string Oh, who would ever want to be king? I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin' Roman Cavalry choirs are singing Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field For some reason, I can't explain I know Saint Peter won't call my name Never an honest word But that was when I ruled the world Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin' Roman Cavalry choirs are singin' Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field For some reason I can't explain I know Saint Peter won't call my name Never an honest word But that was when I ruled the world💫🤍
