I was looking for a hotel in London for early August and the price of the Zedwell is 186 Euros per night for a non-refundable eight square metre room without windows. That's not exactly what I call affordable. Your 67 pounds were okay. Eight square metres mean that they squeeze two rooms in the space that is used for one room in a normal budget hotel. My last trip to London was 20 years ago and I stayed in the Novotel London Bridge (back than it was "Novotel London City South") for just over a hundred Euros per night. It was such a great hotel, but now the price is over 250 Euros per night. It is so sad that European and North American cities have become so expensive, while in Tokyo you can still get a nice room in the city centre for 70 Euros per night. Some other Asian cities are even cheaper. So I always tell people with a limited budget: Go to Asia!
It wasn't always painted green & Gold, for quite some time it was a sort of Blue Grey colour. When I was a boy, back in the mid 60's to early 70's we would often go underneath the bridge at low tide and dig around as we would often find clips of old .303 rifle ammunition in the mud! God knows where that came from???
I would like to ask your permission to use your video (this video) in my English learning video course. The lesson I teach is "Describe your commute", and your video would provide perfect, authentic English for my students. Thank you very much!
i'll be staying here soon for two nights! I personally dont need my room for anything other than sleep and showering. I t looks perfect for me and is close to everything!
Relatively old video but now I’m going to look up Argyle Centre 😎 For a flea market-like experience I recommend Chun Yeung St-Marble Road (North Point) and Jardine’s Crescent (Causeway Bay).
No TV + No window is kind of a dealbreaker. You would have to bring a tablet or laptop with tv shows and movies to have on during down time, but when I travel I love to check out local tv so it's a no for me on this one.
I worked a shop called Lady at Lord John just off Liverpool Street Station so I would pass Leadenhall Market every day.Back in the70s all the shops there we're either butchers, game and poulterers. Now of course it is all restaurants and shops but just as beautiful.
I'm really glad I watched this video now. I was in London back in Oct 21, I planned out a walk starting at the Tower of London (which i had never been to) and went along the river, across London bridge, through Borough Market, past the Golden Hinde, Winchester Palace, Shakespeare Globe, Tate Modern, across Millenium Bridge towards St Pauls. But somehow, I must have walked straight past St Dunstan, the All Hallows and the old bits of Old London Bridge and never known about them. But next month, I'm back in London with a friend, and I thought I'd take him on the same route as there are some nice pubs and some cool sights. Also I can look like I know what i'm doing by retreading old footsteps lol. But this time, I have to stop in all of these stops. Roman roads, Blitz damaged Churches and remains of Old London Bridge (which I would have love to see in it's peak), why wouldn't you want to check out these sites.
Where I fell in love with Cornwall in 1957 just short of my 18th birthday on a cycling holiday. For someone from the Manchester region born just one day before outbreak of WW2, it was another world. Well, lived in Cornwall near Padstow now for nearly 40 years with three grandchildren born here and often visit St Ives which bring back happy memories. So thanks to St Ives for changing the life of my family.
Hi Elena! Used to be on your London Small RU-vidrs group. Been thinking about you this week as I shot a series of Christmas videos for my channel yesterday, and I remember sitting across from you at RU-vid Space London and you recommending to shoot a Halloween video in September (or maybe it was August). Such good advice, honestly it will take me until the festive season to get these vids edited. Glad to see you're still doing good! I like these kind of house tour videos, I remember watching loads of tours of the Millionaire's Row apartments a couple of months back lol
Could have been a lot of factors, I was booked to have a single so paid the single price. Could have been the day of the week I booked it, or the day of the week in October I booked it for. Also demand for the hotel, how busy or empty it is. London is wild with its pricing!
