When I started buying this game a few years ago, I was a Spider-Man fan. Now I'm a Marvel fan. I liked the MCU quite a lot but now I'm addicted. I read the comics now. This game got me into Marvel in a way I never was before.
@@Kiratze it says that Dracula gains health, that is clear. However on the panel they said his minions would gain health back. That is where the confusion comes from.
Great video! I have been working on a kingpin/Loki 2 dual affiliation list. I haven't played Asgard at all though so having a frame of reference was helpful!
Dude I’m loving these videos, your content is so laid back and awesome to watch. I’ve struggled to find mcp content outside of aegis brand studios that I really enjoy. Luckily this is one of the channels I’m watching over and over again.
It truly is a great game but yes, it is very competitive-minded. If you go in for a casual game but you meet someone coming in for the kill, you're bound to have a less then amazing time
Amazing game. So quick and breezy - games can last just an hour when both players are experienced. But still containing loads of interesting decisions and fun moments to make it worthwhile and engaging.

I’m considering getting into the game been more and more tempted as the weeks have gone by. The only games I currently play is Middle Earth SBG & Star Wars legion. Would you recommend the starter set? The main thing that’s tempting me to start is mostly the X-Men & Brotherhood characters not so much the stuff that’s in the starter set tbh. Do you think you can start with the X-Men affiliation set what else do you need to get started?
I mean just in terms of Money to Plastic, the starter set is incredible value. If you have even a slight inclination to play some of the models in it at some point I think it's worth getting. The terrain, dice, tokens, and measurement tools are the main reason to get the Starter Set. Those would be the other things you need other than models to play. Buying all that separately would run you a decent amount of money already so you're getting 13 models at a really discounted price from the Starter Set. The X-Men Affiliation box isn't enough to play on its own as the models in it only equal to 14 Threat. You need a minimum 15 Threat to actually play a 15-threat mission but even then that's not the "true" experience as that's where your roster of 10 models comes in. If cost is a main factor, I'd look for the 1st edition of the Core Set which will be cheaper. You'll have different version of the tokens and models than the Earth's Mightiest set but still fine/legal to use, and you'll have some outdated cards but all the updates can be printed for free off AMG's website. Some of the models are also still really good, like the original core set Baron Zemo is one of the best splashes in the game. You still get terrain, dice, measurement tools, but cheaper. Only main difference is you don't get Winter Soldier, and slightly less terrain. With the extra money you saved you can get the X-Men Affiliation Box and that's enough to make a full roster and start playing.

The game is great. I have a 3D printer so I got everything I need to play for about $50. $20 measurement tools, $10 dice, and $20 for a bottle of resin that printed about 30 models
Yah my buddy's got a 3D printer and it's been great getting things for much cheaper! I'm stubborn about having official models but it was nice getting Sanctorum terrain without paying $90 haha.
@@Kiratze so true. Some of the official models are amazing but I like some of the proxies more. A mix of both is normally how I do it. The avengers tower is my next big print

I agree with everything in this video. I came to MCP from Legion, mostly inspired by the hobby potential of every mini being a show-piece. I actually only started watching the MCU to find out who everyone was having lost interest in comic movies about 20 years ago.
I feel like MCP can be just as complex or simple as Kill Team - it all depends on how competitive you want to be. That being said, I feel like MCP has more "flavour" and epic moments to it, which lends itself much more to narrative gameplay with cinematic moments :)
Definitely! I'd say Kill Team has more nuance simply because it deals with more precise measurements. But it lacks the strategic choices or complexity when it comes to actually building a team compared to MCP. MCP for sure has more flavour as well! It's nice to have such thematic gameplay without the need for a separate Narrative game mode.
Haha I did the same. Originally, just want the core and Dunwich. Now, I have 2 other expansions and I haven’t even finished Dunwich yet. I’m 3 campaigns in.
Oh, one other small reason I forgot to mention why this game is amazing. Time to set up and play. If both players know what they're doing, games stick around the 1.5 hour mark. With less fiddly parts, it's easy to get multiple games in for a session.
I have been playing it for 2 years now, and it's one of the best games around. Specially for competitive play. You have a forum for rules with official answers, the ruleset is quite tight, it's as balanced as it's humanly possible, and there are a lot of pivotal decisions to make, from the list making (characters, tan tactics cards and crisis) to which model activates first or last. Glad you like the game so much you made a video about it!
Well I'm now looking into a starter set for this. My friends aren't huge Marvel nuts, but I really want to give this an honest go. I've tried it a few years ago, but haven't messed with it since. I got into the Marvel Rivals beta, and it has me super interested in the table top equivalent.
Awesome! The Core Set is amazing value for what you get in it. You can also get the 1st edition of it, where it has the older versions of the characters (but still viable/legal) but it's cheaper. I'm also not a big Marvel guy but I'm much more interested in it now. It's amazing what a well designed, thematic game can do to get you interested in the source material!
Thank you! They were just some 25mm generic capsules off Amazon. Got 100 of them for like $15. You can search up sturdier ones though that are slightly more expensive but won't chip/break as easily.
Dunwich is a great first campaign and I recommend finishing it before moving on! You might even want to replay it afterwards to see the different paths. Personally I got the investigator expansions and standalone investigators since I enjoy the deckbuilding aspect more and replaying the Dunwich campaign with new investigators/cards feels like a new way to play. The standalone scenario expansions are also good. Highly recommend Murder at the Excelsior Hotel.
i don't like games where a 1 is a fail without compensation. At the very least you should get tokens to spend to reroll, or mechanically make the next roll more likely.

Haha not die by failure or by not enjoying it. It's currently dead at the moment just because my friends and I've moved onto other games. Unfortunately a difficult one to do if you can't commit a lengthy amount of time to it. We only can play on weekends and we typically like to play other games as well. We do have plans to go back to it though! Especially now that our D&D campaign is done 😅.

I picked up the Marvel characters on Amazon last week, fell in love, and ordered Season 1 & 2 plus Adventures direct from Roxley. It’s all arriving tomorrow if FedEx is to be believed. Like you I was not expecting such a large box. Wow! I’m glad I’ve decided to sell Mechs vs Minions and The Reckoners because I’ll need the room. Thanks for the timely video.
Dice Throne is such a great game. Esepcially when most of the other games in my collection are massive tablehogs. There is something really nice about pulling out a tray and getting it on th table. I have DT Adventures, but still haven't tabled it because the competitive version plays so quickly. All of that being said, I can't wait to see what the Marvel Missions has in store for DT later this year. As a side note, I really appreciate your content. We have very similar taste in games, but I'm starting to hit capacity for all the big box stuff. I even had to cancel Kingdoms Forlorn just because my backlog is getting so large.
Oh definitely. Honestly the Campaign sessions don't take too long once everyone knows how the game works and due to the great packaging by Dice Throne, setup and takedown is quick. I also have Marvel Missions backed! We're also very excited for that one. And I get you. I'm in the same boat. I've really appreciated smaller games now. I still have Kingdoms Forlorm backed though because that'll be my last big box game for a looooong time haha.
@@Kiratze Well dang. I'll have to check it out now. Maybe my daughter and I can roll through it together. Did you end up pulling the trigger on Sins of Herakles by chance? As cool as it looked, I still have a metric tonne of ATO to play. And Cycle 4 and 5 still haven't arrived. I think the next big boss battler that can lure me in would be Sankokushin. I just hope it doesn't get too muddled with all of its systems and mechanics. I feel like ATO straddles that line really hard for me. In fact, if ITU would ever make a game that's more streamlined instead of more complex, it would probably be my ideal game. As much as I love it what they do, I have to have a lot of energy and mental bandwidth left to play their stuff. I'd love something a little less taxing.
I haven't backed any more stuff as my group and I haven't even finished Cycle 1 yet of ATO. No sense in backing something I won't get to ever! I have my eye on Sankokushin too but not stressed about it. Who knows when that game will actually come out. I agree about ATO. It's a bit on the "too heavy" side for me and it's just difficult to get back into it after a long break. Our group definitely won't be remembering any of the story or anything 😅 @@jalsbrook
At the time of uploading this, my friends and I have already played a couple sessions! We've gotten halfway through the campaign and only one loss so far to the Fallen Gunslinger. Really looking forward to playing it more and with other characters.

They're so different that I wouldn't say one's better than the other. Really depends on what you want. If you just like the gear aspect and want more variety, the Odd Jobs is for you. The role cards add a nice twist and can give you a nice power bump. But if you're getting tired of the bosses in the base game then you want Foul Neighbors. They are more mechanically interesting/challenging than the base game so you get a good amount of content. If you only can afford one expansion, I'd say Foul Neighbors gives you more bang for your buck.
@@Kiratze Weell I'm tight on money. So yeah. I was looking at it from a tough choices perspective. I figured odd jobs also has a narrative campaign or legacy or whatever to combine items beside the classes you didn't touch on (not sure why).
Yah at least how the rules are now, you don't actually mix/match as the more you dilute the deck, the more difficult you'll be able to complete Role cards. The new Peddler deck has 120+ cards though so you still have a good amount. Odd Jobs won't have a campaign or anything but you will get side quests from the Peddler and goals to complete to unlock unique gear (this stuff wasn't in the prototype) so there is some extra content that way. @@zenster1097
