The music was too loud.I had problems focusing on what you were saying though I can tell it was very thorough.I seem to have the fracture at the base.I will try to listen to the video again and compare what you're saying to my MRI report. Thank you for the upload.
WOW ! i'M IN MY 6 WEEK POST OP. :) NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT THE INJURY , BUT THANKS TO ALL THE DOCTORS AND MEDICINE, I'LL HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE TO CONTINUE WITH MY CLOSE TO NORMAL LIFE. THANKS FOR SHARING AND FOR YOUR HONORABLE DEDICATION TO HEAL PEOPLE. PABLO. :)
I had a fracture of the talus and calcaneus, my sinus tarsi was debrided and a screw was placed that connects the talus and calcaneus and blocks the joint during inversion or eversion, does the screw have to stay? it limits my movement
Doc I have a chronic Achilles tendon rupture for 10 years, my calf is not functioning and it affects my entire leg and back...is it possible to get your advice im in Africa I feel like a special case its affecting me mentally big time
Can you explain why for post ORIF surgery the current medical studies suggest that there are more benefits to immediate weight bearing (as tolerated) vs the almost world wide prescribed 6+ weeks non weight bearing (I do note that your protocol is a little more aggressive at 50% at week 4). Is the research just simply that far ahead of practice? Seems disadvantageous to those non weight bearing for such periods that their surgeons aren't current with the published peer reviewed literature.
This is the type of fracture I have. My doctor fixed mine with Closed reduction and internal fixation (CRIF). After searching online, all I could find were the information about your treatment method; but I'm curious about the specifics of how orthopedic surgeons perform CRIF. Unfortunately, I can't see the metal used in my treatment because it's covered by a cast.
Thank you for this simplified explanation,I have fully understood my condition. I had this fracture, unfortunately secured the implants late for surgery. So doctors just opted to put me in a cast for 9 weeks. After removing it,the ankle joint has been having excruciating pain.
After my op, and 1 month of blood thinners i still went through DVT & PE.. on the 33rd day after my op just 3 days after i stopped the blood thinners i had bad pain on my calf felt like a cramp, which i ignored and turned into a PE. Wish all people that go through this injury best of luck and stay strong ! Running at 4 months, seems a bit too early ? Great video btw :)
Because the sutures only withstand a certain amount of force. There is no way a suture would withstand the forces that happen in neutral position of the foot. Of course there are different suture technics that allow an earlier loading than others, but because the tendon takes, compared to other tissues, a long time to heal because of his indirect blood supply the foot needs to stay in plantarflexion to prevent too much stress on the tendon in the earlier recovery stage.
avulsion non displaced fracture on my 5th metatarsal - wondering how long is recovery time in a healthy athlete ? 😊 great information Doctor - thank you 🙏
hello Doctor, when I turn my left ankle inside , I hear the click , I can walk but in some positions I feel pain for short time , but it goes away after short time, do I need surgery ? MRI helps?
Hi I'm at my 4th after surgery. Foot is in the cast pointed downward. The cast is very hard from under the foot to the back of the calf. And i can stand on it at the heel. My question is will i have to wear the boot after the cast is removed?
Sth metatorso fracture in right foot.. Jones fracture however not so sewere, but doc recommend a pop cast and got it done yesterday.. yesterday it was paining like bullet but today pain was reduced by 50%. Yet not able to walk properly..doc said 3 weeks mold what do u think is good time..
Had a trimal with dislocation - talus decided to split up my tib and fib and blow apart my syndesmosis… 11 screws, plate, 2 syndesmotic anchors that are coming out soon. Wild how long it takes to heel and how much work it takes, I’m 6 mo. out from surgery and I’m not back to normal (can take a year I hear)
It’s been 9 weeks and I still can’t walk without a walker. The bone did not join even after 6 weeks.Bedrest has increased my weight and now I don’t know how I would break this viscous cycle of foot injury and weight loss 😢
I had the same fracture and same treatment a week ago, but doc didn't told me about anything like timeline or stages of its fixing or diet can u please please tellme the only diff is that my fibula did not broke, its was good, rest condition is same
What if the patient is morbidly obese? Would you still recommend surgery even though they cant transfer without stepping down on the foot? It is required to be 100% non-weight bearing for at least 6 weeks. I fear the recovery would further hurt the situation. What are your thoughts?
this patient actually was Obese with a BMI north of 40. Most people use a knee scooter to stay off the injured side. The real question is can anyone live with the fracture and forgo surgery. If there is pain, then surgery is the recommended solution :) If no pain things like a bone stimulator or shockwave can be used.
I got a jones fracture . I got officially diagnosed and casted today they wanna we me back in a month (4 weeks) if it's not healing I might need surgery. They said it's not in a good healing spot.
@@doctorrandall thank you and it's not good. And in fact it's worse they said the fracture is bigger. So I gotta go back in another 4 weeks (well down to 2 weeks now ) and if it's still the same she said she will have me talk to a surgeon . but this happened back in May. If i need surgery I wish they would just set a date. So I go back the 17th of August. :(
I had a bimalleolar fracture surgery I got some x rays maybe you’d be of help in giving your opinion about them? ease my mind on some answers doctors have told me
