Hello there! My name is Andy, and welcome to my RU-vid channel.
Come join the journey of a young man in an old man's world as I conquer the complex and competitive world of farming. You will get to experience the day-to-day challenges of a farmer in South-Central Illinois--from erratic weather to inconvenient breakdowns... and everything in between! If there is one thing that you will learn quickly, it is that there is no shortage of interesting days on the farm.
I hope that I can provide you some entertainment and maybe even teach you a thing or two.
Make sure to follow Andy on Instagram to get a different perspective of the farm while also staying updated.
Enjoy your stay!

My only complaint about planting in stale seedbed this year, with the bean planter, is the burndown did little to nothing to the volunteer corn. Our March pass with VT disc seeded the corn and the burndown didn't help much with that.
Enjoy your videos and I understand the need for ads to pay you but unfortunately now the political ads have started I stop watching when the first one hits.
My kids are almost 30. Enjoy the rain days with the family. Farming will be around when it drys. Maybe look at the drone sprayers to be able to do something when it is too wet for heavy equipment.
All this rain is an organic producer’s worse nightmare. We do substantially better when it’s on the dry side. Disease, warm season grasses sprouting in the field. The cattle moves have to increase 400%. Nature is chaos. You conventional guys deal with it too. My saving grace is that outside of land and equipment costs, I have nothing in it. Factor in all the “fake organic”, tilled organic, in name only and actually less healthy than conventional, organic; all dragging the premium for organic down. It’s not an ideal year.
You be go fast using that digger and planter. Ricky Bobby. Lol. Is that your black and red semi? It's really nice. You are going to have to talk about that semi.
It is my uncle's that doesn't work on the farm. He is retired from trucking but I don't believe has been able to sell the truck yet. He sorta missed the market at this point. Trucks are worth a fraction of what they were two years ago!
Just curious if you’re custom spraying business has taken off at all, I thought that was the intent with the purchase of your own sprayer. Seemed like you were spraying for the farm through your own business last growing season.
I custom spray for my family...that is enough business to pay for the sprayer on its own. I am going to try to do more outside work on corn fungicide this summer, but herbicide applications just aren't profitable enough to risk spraying for other people.
Hey, I just want to tell you. You have to stop worrying so much. I know it's easier said than done. It is what it is. I'm retired. I grew up on a farm. We milked 350 cows, herd was around 400. Milked 200 goats. Put up hay, planted crops. Farming is a tough job. But you got it. You get it done every year. Trust in God. He has you right where you need to be every day. Keep making smoke.
Trippy, you are now a tattoo artist along with farming. Hope that was not permanent marker. Good to see Marty out and about. Keep it between the rows!👍
You are really pushing the high speed planter to its accuracy limits at over 13 miles per hour, even with the best planter in the world,John Deere. Its almost looks like flying, instead of planting at those speeds.
If the blades are worn, even slightly,no verticle tillage machine works well. The Deere will probably be worth more than the Fiat with the same numbers of acres through it
Not sure how big ur farm is,,,by the looks of ur equipment,,,I suspect it's very large.. i watch 3 farm videos mostlyl...size tank 1. Atrippy,,,,,2. Brian Farms video,,,,,3.milinneal farmer...... I may be wrong, but don't believe so
Definitely a rough wet spring Andy, hopefully y’all get everything in the ground and have a smooth year from here on out. Take care young man, y’all are doing great considering the obstacles 🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
Sub soiler Answer to all these issues Andy Once you research the difference between sub soilers and deep ripper You will understand today’s problems are the result of last years non preparation. Great Plains make an amazing subsoiler Call them!
Hi from oz Andy. Great video. Good explanation on problems with those black soils but they do have excellent plus features. All soils have some positive features and some negative. Eg my own farm has loamy sand soils. Great for use of light rain and ease of working but low water holding capacity high wear rates on metal tools and if very high rainfall it goes like soup. We have had 3 very high rainfall years in a row(21,22,23) and I could not sow 1 acre only move around farm on atv.
Your boom height is just fine. No need to go so lower to the ground the speed of your boom and sprayer covering ground drives that spray down to the ground.
