I make videos that make your move to Boston easier.
I am a Boston transplant. Moving to Boston was an overwhelming experience.
I didn't find as many guides on moving to Boston as I had hoped, and the quality information that I did find wasn't in one place. I've decided to create this channel to capture what I have learned from my experience moving to Boston.
So if you're hoping to learn about relocating to Boston, or if you just want to learn more about the city, subscribe to this channel to follow all updates. Feel free to let me know any aspects of the city you would like for me to break down.
My goal is that you can take just one thing away from this channel that will make your relocation to Boston easier. If you aren't relocating, I hope you can learn just one new aspect about the city.
Driving from the airport to salem,at night, with no clue,I wound up in tunnels, circular eways & wound up in the city bus depot...nightmare roads,no sense. You people are lucky you put a lot of lobster in those rolls..I forgive you
It's not population driving the higher costs. How come it was so affordable in the 70s than it is now? Pop is only greater by 30k+/- now compared to the 70s? Makes no sense, same room, same population but astronomically more expensive. It hasn't been a gradual increase. This increase in cost started about 20 yrs ago and hasn't stopped and it has spread to almost all of New England. There are no rural or inner city to fall back on. Everything is the same and costs keep rising. Population in Boston was 800k in the 50s but was still affordable? Boston has even reduced or removed housing projects so who did they sell that land too?
Great presentation - Due to take a train from Manhattan to Boston in Nov when we're over from Ireland to visit my daughter - Is it as Irish as I've heard?
I actually had this conversation yesterday: Dublin and Boston are incredibly similar to me. Of course we could pick out a ton of differences (they’re different countries after all), but in my opinion they both have a similar feel. Very interested to see if you have the same take!
You foget to tell them that Boston is a Racist city they don't care to much for Black folk. As evident in the TV show Cheers. It's akin to living in Jackson or Birmingham or Nashville.👹
Revere and Somerville/Medford are NOT on this list makes me LMFAO. Medford at least has their own private lake in comparison to a beach you have to worry about needles getting in your foot. Guy, shut up!
New visitor here, wondering how much advance notice do they give about the upcoming stop? Do people inch their way forward as their stop approaches or what's the best plan for that? Thanks
Announcements are made as trains approach, and there are signs with realtime updates as to when the next train will arrive. Unless it’s an incredibly packed time for the T, you can just sit back and wait for the train to stop, then board.
Been here decades. - Most UPTIGHT people you can imagine. You better have your social skills honed perfectly I mean PERFECTLY to get women here, no rehearsals, no do overs. I met some foreign women not from here and the Columbian women are the friendliest. Maybe go there? - Nanny state with vote blue no matter who liberals infesting this place. Second amendment is a joke here with new recent gun bill passed making it the most restrictive state in US including California. - Expensive all over Massachusetts. Better work 3 jobs to buy a house. - Super aggressive drivers, yes it’s rubbed off on me but I drive cautiously aggressive and let people pass if need be. - Be ready to shovel snow, lots sometimes. - They treat strangers like dirt. “Massholes” they call us and for good reason, though I’d like to think I buck the trend. If I owned this place and hell, I’d rent out this place and live in hell. My recommendation - STEER CLEAR.
I’ll stick to my 4 bedroom home in a great neighborhood. With a detached garage and a jacuzzi and 3 full bathrooms. My rent is 950.00. Purchased my home 15 years ago when it was a buyers market. I am 1 1/2 hours away from Boston. I’ll be here till I die.
Like your video overall. I don’t completely disagree with the night life comment but it’s about the same as all other cities the same size. Side note … you realize bars close the same time in Boston as Texas (2AM) right ?
Dot is great until you get robbed. I lived there 7 years and was robbed twice in an "upscale" part of Jones Hill. My house and my car were both broken into. Convenient yes, secure, no. I moved to metro-west after the house robbery, that was enough for me. If you live in a triple-decker on the upper floors, and without a car, maybe you will be ok. Its too bad because Dot has nice parts with many recreational options. I would love to continue living in one of the many large Victorians, but when you are violated like that, it ruins the experience.
If you’re going from the Airport Station on the Blue Line, walk right outside the outside the station and get on the bus going to your terminal. Each bus will have signs saying which terminal is the destination. If you’re coming from the terminals to Airport Station, follow the airport signs for buses and “Blue Line”. Routes 22, 33, 55, and 66 will take you to Airport Station.
As of August 2024, a new fare payment system has been implemented on subways, buses and trolleys. In addition to paying with your charlie card, you can also tap your credit card, or a phone with a digital wallet on the new screens by the fare gate/box. Just make sure to tap your phone/credit card on the screen and your charlie card on the circle. As for on the commuter rail, you can use a digital wallet, credit card, or cash to pay the conductor while onboard. Enjoy the T.
So my British gf flew into Boston to work a summer job in NH a few months ago and soon I'll be driving from Ohio to pick her up and meet her for the first time. After our roadtrip I'll have to take her back to Boston for her return flight to London. Watching this and a video about driving in Boston I'm having a panic attack thinking about it because I have crazy anxiety. For my own sanity would it be better to just find a hotel the night before like way outside the city and just take an Uber into the city to the airport? I guess the issue with that would be that her flight isn't until 8:30pm so we have to find something to do with her luggage all day. I just am freaking out hearing how hard it is to drive in near Boston and yea I think it'd be horrible for my anxiety, especially with heightened emotions from her leaving and going home
@@BreakingDownBoston This channel deserves more subscribers. It's a gem for anyone within driving distance of Boston honestly. Although the following idea would be overkill for most MA folks (anyone who isn't a new transplants), I kinda think a 3d google earth globe zoom in to the location and then transitioning to google/apple maps might be a good intro for videos
I think it wouldve been cool to have them in boston, but logistically, I just couldn't see it happening even with upgrades to the current infrastructure
what about Lexington and Concord. They are a few miles out of the city. Are there any tours that go out there? Great video. I would highly recommend going to see the USS Constitution. The tour guides are actually members of the US Navy.
Thank you! I do believe you can find tours to Lexington and Concord through travel sites, but in my opinion it’s a little far out for a quick trip into Boston.
Sputnik looks a lot like dT areas of stjohns Newfoundland…and fun fact whitey was from Newfoundland and his family lived in the area Im speaking of which is where my family was from and where I lived for most of my life
@@P40oz well when we have a mayor who is actively telling illegals to come here for "shelter" as she puts these people in local prisons.....and you probably think that's an accomplishment because typical bostonian liberals have no self reflection....
@@P40oz ask mayor wu why there's no starter homes built in this state it's either million dollar mansions or "low income housing" nobody qualifies for....full grown adults working a career shouldn't have to sign up to get on a lottery to rent an overpriced shyt apartment
Instead of talking about the yuppies who come here thinking there cool or trendy why don't you make a video about the ethnic cleansing of South Boston. And how they turned from a family community and how they broke up The community so, these young professionals can come here For a year or two and on to the next big city. Boston is ruined not just south Boston but all Boston But you wouldn't know about that Would you??
Just a heads up, nobody says _the_ Boston Harbor or _the_ South Station. They're just Boston Harbor and South Station. Also, taxis are more reliable than ride shares from the airport.
