It's the theme tune to 60's TV show Z-cars. It was based in Liverpool and the cast were invited to the set so played it at their next game. It's been played ever since
Sadly not. At the moment they use Hey boy Hey girl by the Chemical Brothers. Shame really as Telstar has a stronger link to the club. Thanks for the comment, I'll do a Kidderminster video past and present
@@vivalafootball76 maybe I sound like a old crab, but some of the modern walkout music isn't as good as the classic ones, like telstar at kidderminster, tijuana taxi at leyton orient, semper fidelis at plymouth or the wickers world theme at torquay. I once told a joke that torquay should walk out to the wickers world theme and then have the pa announcer read out the starting 11 doing a alan whicker impression. LOL.
What’s the story here? I heard this on one of Argyle’s recent highlights and as an American was surprised to hear Semper Fidelis as their walk out music. It’s one of our most famous marches by John Phillip Sousa and borrows the name from our Marine Corps
Argyles' motto is Semper fidelis due to the amount of military units based in Plymouth when formed in 1886. Royal Marines are based in the city and on the outskirts plus a large Royal navy presence as well. Just made sense to use it I guess
