This is not as I remember the International Year of the Child Concert. I believe snow was coming down and they had to grab hats. My love for music was cemented then. Love Bee Gees❤
Yes. The technical challenges and cost to recreate something in this setting wasn't worth pursuing. I mean, Whitney Houston lip synced her famous national anthem live. As a producer you don't want to risk any technological disasters.
This is ABSOLUTELY "Lip Sync'd" from the "Live recording" they did for their video with the orchestra and live band. Look it up and watch it......That was sung and recorded LIVE around ONE MICROPHONE and is INCREDIBLE showing the GREATNESS of the Gibb brothers.......but this is CLEARLY a recording of that performance....it's IDENTICAL.
That's because this and the video you referenced both use the studio recording. It's a very common misconception that it was recorded live, and in one take. It wasn't. It was recorded in a studio in the traditional manner. A dead giveaway, both in this and the other video, is the fact that there are a number of times you can hear Barry's voice in the chorus, yet he's not singing, or not singing the chorus. It's virtually impossible to get the vocals as they are in one take. The song also has the traditional studio quality, which again, you'd never get in a live recording.
Do you know how many times they practice this song? They've been singing together since they were born... The falsetto is real, It is not auto-tuneed in any way... The good lord jesus christ put these three on earth to do one thing and one thing only and that is to make the most beautiful music and the most beautiful sounds come out of the human being or beings!!!!!

Sorry, but Barry and Robin were singing. Maurice looked like he drifted away a few times, but they had their backing vocals playing, and the Orchestra was live. New pop singers didn't invent backing vocals, in my opinion, some depend on them too much. The Bee Gees were and remain one of the best groups of all time. And, when Andy joined them, they were the best pop quartet of all time. I think Barry did the majority of the writing for the boys, but they all sang it in the studio and on tour. Whether or not they did here, doesn’t matter. I'm sure that 2 of them were singing and Maurice was there most of the time!
Clearly lip synched since the song had multiple voice tracks. BUT that is so far beyond the point and spirit of the song & event. Another Bee Gees masterpiece and they lived up to their promise.
As i understand there are 27 tracks consisting of each guy doing 9 tracks. However lip sync they may be doing but this is thier own voices not someone else. This is the bee gees on full throttle. I see no shame in lip sync as it is thier singing anyways. Now doing it when they didn't record it at all that's a different story
Of course lip synched. This song was multi-layered mostly with Barry's vocal falsetto and would be impossible to justifiably sing live with its true beauty & charm. They eventually sang this live as part of a medley in their concerts starting in 1989 but using their normal registers only.
It is definitely lip sync,... I know for fact. I am an arranger and there are 5 harmony parts (all double tracked) and there are only 3 singing,... they have mastered the lip sync very well though especially Barry : )
Everyone lipsynched on television, until maybe the 80s? That’s why they thought they could pull off the Milli Vanilli scam on the public. And it worked for a while.
