Nice to see installs available right away on your booking but me and others on the forum have been waiting weeks for our tracks with same thing being told to all of us
Depending on how you measure, center of light, edge of light, far side....it can depend. As for the tracks. They are measured for govee precisely. So total track length with the puck mount space for pro version is 19.5" and 18.5" between the lights. Let me know if that doesn't make sense. There is also the "Vibrant" track option for pro which allows you to space the lights closer together without having to cut/splice between lights. You simply store the excess wire in the track.
It varies from market to market and installer experience. Essentially I would urge you to get quotes from competitors and check your installers references/ experience. You will find that Govee is generally the most affordable option. However, full custom installs with a permanent track system and color matching essentially involves the same labor effort as other brands.
Govee connectors fit together securely naturally and fit inside the track neat and protected without having cut off the connectors or splice lights together. However, you do have to remove the loose thumbscew piece. Just like you would an end cap piece that is not used if that makes sense.
I have not seen this to be an issue in over 10K feet of installs. However, I am sure there is a use case it could. It is not typical as I use them on most all installs.
I prefer to use the exact match soffit paint of each home and to paint after install. Tracks can tend to get some minor scratches during the install procedure like anything painted and moved around. You don't have to paint the whole soffit when using matching paint and you can generally apply the paint liberally as it will match when dry. Painting post install allows you touch up and create a very seemless look....just like when you paint trim. Any soffit, or track imperfections always hide better with paint. Just like anything you paint on your home. :). Also, while I am working on a better solution...it only takes a few minutes pre install to put painters tape over the face of the light puck to make painting easier. It is also possible to "paint as you go" carefully, just more cumbersome. My next install I will be using a cordless paint sprayer. Look out for that video this season down the road.
Thanks for asking...the material is PVC Rigid, a quick google will give you some good insight to that material, which is a good one for outdoor. Most of the time, due to being under your soffit, the tracks will never be in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. If you are paint matching...then you vastly increase the potential life of the track. My product use case is so new, I do not currently offer a warranty as I have no control over how installers and home owners "handle" the product. However, I do offer at least a 3 year warranty on personal installs at this time. As "time tested" passes and I gain more insight with my manufacturer....I suspect I will land on a solid warranty offer.
The connectors do fit in the track nicely without you having to cut/ or splice un-necessarily. However, you do have to clip off the loose thumbscrew piece, just like you would an end cap on a govee strand being connected. The Govee connectors fit together tightly and are protected by the track as well. If you feel you need the added protection at the connectors...you can use a heat-shrink sleeve, or for a quick addition...electrical tape and both will fit inside. However, it is not necessary in my opinion and I have never hand an issue.
That is correct. This home was the inspiration for govpermtrack. The look of the track is similar. However way less quality as it is a std vinyl raceway from Amazon that you would use for interior cables like your hdmi cable. You can notice in the video how we had to put clips inside and though it was all we had at the time… it’s a quite flimsy material and much harder to work with than the solid govpermtrack we have now.
I noticed that the Pro version is out, and the length distances are different. Do you have channels for the new Pro Version? By the way, your video is awesome. Thank you
easy peasy. It’s just a soffit and it’s just drywall. Both can be repaired, replaced, painted plugged with silicone etc…you can also power other ways. You can do it 😉 just be safe with ladders and tools and you can do it…also a good idea to check for any near electrical wiring so you don’t drill through that. Be especially careful if you are planning entry near your breaker/ main.
@@KeithGehring-j9i this home had a relatively narrow soffit run about 6” so we split the difference and installed at 3” from the face of the home. On wider soffits, regardless of how wide, if you want a solid signature govee bell look… I recommend 4”. Most of my installs are done at either 3 or 4”.
@@KeithGehring-j9i the soffit and facia material on this home is hardie cement board. So, we use Brad nails and nail gun. Much better than screws for cement board. For aluminum siding soffits, I would recommend a flat head std self tapping sheet metal screw at the appropriate length.
After the 5th strand tucked up under the eve, top left of the front door. Which is a much better place, in my opinion, out of direct sunlight like they had it. :)
Hi first of all , beautiful job . So I purchased a 200 ft Govee but only used 11 sections out of 12 which was enough to do all the way around. I found use for the 12 th one under front window which is perfect since the length would be enough. I only have 1 12 foot extension left for one side but still need another one for opposite side of window. Can I use the 3 out 4 of the 4 foot extensions together to equal a 12 foot section? Also doesn’t that defeat their 200 max on length? Please advise
Thank you! Yes, you absolutely can use the 3 extensions all together. Generally, it is not a problem to use all extensions in the kit however you like. Where you can run into trouble is when you have too many extensions and longer after market splice wire in between. Even with adding splice wire...if you throw an extension in the mix it will help carry the voltage, You will notice that Govee extensions have little rectangle blocks on them near the connection. This helps.
So basically what they are saying about 200 feet is total of the 12 in the kit even with extensions , since extensions pushes it beyond 200 feet ? And sorry for the bother
Oh, no problem! Yes, while it is limited distance past 200… it’s the number of lights that is the main issue. 120 lights max… doesn’t matter even if you have no extensions, or splices, you can’t have more than 120 lights. I’ve found that your intermittent extensions need to stay 12-25 feet. Extensions with no govee cable lose voltage (voltage drop) faster so to speak. Less length in that case… so, ideally you want to make your longer “jumps/ extensions hybrid. Partial Govee extension cable and partial after market wire. As a rule of thumb I try to use this hybrid Method throughout the install utilizing the Govee pro splice connectors when possible. That way I rarely get to the end and have a voltage drop issue.
I appreciate you and your assistance greatly. I’ll be doing that remaining piece within these few days. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thank you. Thank you. It should take off correct. Or do I have to power down to reset so it recognizes strip?
@@JoseVargas-gq4nr it just depends. Don’t feel like you failed if you see nothing when you plug them in. Make sure you always have the power unplugged or off while working on them. Safety and avoiding shorting anything out is why. If they don’t come on at all…first do the reset by holding down the controller button 30 seconds. They should flash and restart. If that doesn’t work…play with the “number of strands” setting in the app. Often this will be thrown off by splicing. If you have flickering, dimness, or partially lit stand , it is either a bad connection issue or the voltage drop issue. If voltage drop, then you need to shorten wire extensions or re evaluate where you use the Govee extensions vs wire. Lastly, reducing the brightness when voltage won’t carry can work as well to get them all lit. Even at 30-40% govee looks great at night.
The two split offs will mirror each other and light at the same time if that makes sense. For instance if you are continuing a run straight and the other splits offs down, up or left etc.... the split off will light at the same time as the continuation.

@@jroweinc I measured and I need 97 feet of lights. I am going to order the 100 foot pro and the 16.4 foot extension to make sure I have enough flights. My question is if I order the 100 ft permtrack will I have enough track for the 97 feet or should I assume I need more track just in case?
@@nickfasano7875 4” from the face is the std I go by. However, the closer…the smaller the signature “bell” look is. The farther the bigger they are and too far you will just get a color glow look.
Hi, I just purchased this, how do I track my order? It said 1-3 Bussiness days for Canada but it has been over a week now. Can’t wait to install these bad boys!
1-3 days is the cost level of shipping you selected. Please shoot a request from the contact form on the website with your order number to check status, if you haven’t already done so. Thanks!
What did you have to do regarding power to run 600ft? With the 200ft strands you have to install an LED driver after strand 5. Did you install 3 LED drivers on this and if so, where at?
@@tommiwan this install was before drivers were required. The initial pros didn’t have them last October. If I remember right, two power supplies in the upstairs attic ran through the soffit and the third one ran through the soffit over the garage and drilled through moisture barrier/ insulation in to upstairs game room for placement there. There was partial attic over the garage, however customer didn’t want to put controller/ power supply there as it had no ladder access.
I just preordered 2 100’ kits and waiting for them to get off back order. I was wondering what length and gauge brads or finish nails you use with your nailer, in between the lights, in the channels?
That’s INSANE!!!! Glad you were able to help the homeowner. Two questions 1. If you add extension wires to a kit, for example a 200’ pro kit, does that affect the lights? 2. How much should one expect to pay a pro installer to do a 200’ pro kit install?
@@hashtagjustadad5110 the 200 ft pro kit is the best kit for maximizing extensions/ splicing customization. Adding extensions/ splicing doesn’t affect the lights when done correctly. However, there is some distance restriction in the length of the extensions/ splicing to keep good voltage. The cost to install varies by market, difficulty of install/ home and experience. Other systems like trimlight and gemstone will charge $20, or more per foot including lights. You can expect to pay less than that with govee even with my www.govpermtrack.com system.

@@---GOD--- that is one way to look at it. However, govee with tracks is significantly more affordable than other brands with track like trim lights, jellyfish, gemstone and oelo.
