Why not use a normal power block…?where u located ?
@CrabberLang
@CrabberLang 5 месяцев назад
The currents in hecate straits are strong so conventional blocks wont work.
@jamesp8
@jamesp8 5 месяцев назад
@@CrabberLang can you explain why?..they are just as powerful if not more than the setup you have there?so all the boats have this setup in Hecate straits..?
@CrabberLang
@CrabberLang 5 месяцев назад
@@jamesp8 Yes every boat run this set up here. We use only single buoy and line we run cant be to long because the currents are strong, and we also get storms that gust over 70 knots. There would be too much tangled rope so we just use enough, which caused alot of tension when pulling buoys. Just the buoy onto the block requires a huge amount of force. You would need to be able to life 50 to 200 pounds to get it over the conventional block. With our hecate straight set up you can use leverage to overcome the tension. I think you can redesign the convention set up where the block can be lowered by 1 foot. That might work

Need to put the crab block where that little block is and put 2 buoys on there looks like doing that 500 times a day would kick ur butt
@CrabberLang
@CrabberLang 7 месяцев назад
We usually pull 400-500 a day. We were pulling gear in the wrong currents thats why we stopped and went to the other end.

One thing i dont get.. commercial fishing takes from the ocean but doesn't give back. People are concerned about depleted fishing stock but are not doing anything to vitalize their condition. Is it not a bad idea to provide feed in the ocean waters pre season? I would only assume that dumping food annually would increase species population.

They have size and amount limits...seasons and egg-bearing females aren't kept. Some places no females are kept.
