Waterford FC urged to stay away from Greyhound track where DOGS suffer & die -- Irish Government : STOP Giving Millions of Euro to CRUEL Greyhound Racing -- DOG-RACING is sadistic, abusive and deadly -- it MUST END -
Always makes me smile listening to human beings saying its barbaric to kill animals 'yet it seems ok that we have spent century's and continue to be nothing but barbaric towards each other ,strange world.
I'm sad for you that you think there is justification for this barbarism. Are you playing devils advocate, or do you genuinely believe its less barbaric if there are fewer dogs involved? Also, do you consider the dogs in this? I live in an area where hunting takes place, and I have seen how the dogs are treated. We hit a hunting dog that popped out onto the road and the owners picked the poor creature up and dropped him in the back of their jeep. They said they'll have him looked at after the hunt. They laughed at me when i caught up with them later to make sure the dog was ok. Sure it happens all the time, was the response. Is that acceptable to you?
SF won't represent us who are in the majority and who want bloodsports like live hare coursing and fox hunting banned. Time for change my arse. Ignoring the express wishes of the majority of Irish citizens is unforgivable and a Red Flag for those who seek change in Irish politics.
Watching this as my rescue greyhound is on the bed with me . The thought of this happening to any animal just absolutely breaks my heart . Great documentary
I'm not going to sit here and say what I've seen isn't cruel and barbaric, but let's put this into perspective... RTE the only Irish broadcaster, who charges huge money, is funded by government and has adverts too (unlike BBC) who has always hated greyhound racing and rural Ireland (they love horse racing because it's posh), has done an hour long programme about how cruel greyhound racing is, but has some how managed to talk about problems in the UK and china for 45mins of it..... I'm not saying IGB are blameless but what other industry gets this treatment as in exporting something and then getting blamed for what the buyers are doing..... Should we stop the exporting of potatoes to France because they throw them at police during riots??? The cruelty suffered by the poor dogs in Britain is a British problem caused by greedy British people. Likewise what the Chinese do to ALL dogs by look of it, not just greyhounds. The sport and the people within it are getting a hard time with all the accusations when much of it is blown out of proportion... I truly believed the sport was finished, not because of this documentary (this is a shite attempt) but of the big story after about how greyhound were found dead, ears cut etc in Ireland, tide up and left to die also..... Then it turned out they were even greyhounds
Watched this documentary when it came out. Truly horrific the way these intelligent and beautiful creatures are treated just so mindless individuals can have a bet and callous morons make loads of profit. Greyhound racing should be banned in Ireland, the UK and the other 5 countries, where it is still unfortunately legal and any other country operating illegally. I support an end to this disgusting industry. Please share this documentary far and wide.
disgusting revolting scumbag bastards. Shame shame and shame to the Irish government, which keep injecting millions of euro of taxpayers money for this "entertaining" olocaust
if it's for food I don't mind them doing it, go round houses and give people a brace of pheasant for cooking! but I feel if it's just to kill them for the sake of killing them, then yeah... cruel & pointless. I know it's a sport but at least make something useful out of it.
A Sunday Times report last weekend (18 July 2021) outlined that at a GRI meeting in October, its veterinary director raised the issue. “A contract for veterinary services has been secured for Tralee, and Shelbourne Park is under review, but lack of interest and a desire for fees comparable with horseracing present a challenge,” he told the meeting, adding that “an anti-greyhound racing sentiment, rather than pay, appears to be the main block in securing veterinary services.” In his article, headed "Greyhound Racing Ireland board member raises fears over trackside veterinary services", journalist Mark Tighe also revealed that GRI board member Pat Creed - who has since resigned over "corporate governance issues" - expressed concerns about "the veterinary treatment available at last year’s Irish Derby after the favourite suffered a serious injury". Greyhound Pestana suffered a serious injury at the September 2020 Boylesports-sponsored race at Shelbourne Park and Pat Creed, who expressed "serious concerns", asked if “appropriate veterinary treatment” was available. 2-year-old Pestana could be seen tumbling to the ground after a collision at the first bend. According to a Racing Post report at the time, “initial suggestions [were] that he had suffered a bad break” before he was carried off the track. Last week GRI CEO Gerard Dollard - who is due to step down in September - said he was at Shelbourne Park on the night and that the greyhound received “appropriate care”. The Sunday Times quoted him as saying: "As is normal, the vet on duty provides the immediate care and the owner then brings the greyhound to his own vet. In this case Pestana required specialist veterinary treatment for a serious injury. This is the norm. For very valuable greyhounds, such as Pestana, owners understandably would wish for the care to be provided by their own vet.” At the October meeting, Pat Creed also complained that many veterinary practitioners are “not small animal/companion animal vets, and therefore lack sufficient knowledge and training”. Shelbourne Park is one of the worst tracks in Ireland for greyhound injuries and deaths. At least 196 greyhounds suffered injuries there and 47 died or were killed by a track vet over the past six years alone, sickening Greyhound Racing Ireland statistics show. At tracks around Ireland in the same period, at least 2,146 greyhounds were injured and 715 killed. Many more are killed because they don’t make the grade. As revealed in RTE’s award-winning “Greyhounds running for their lives”, around 6,000 greyhounds are culled every year because they are not fast enough to win races. The documentary included shocking scenes of dogs being delivered to a knackery where they were shot in the head and dumped in a skip. One shot dog was seen writhing on the ground in agony as his merciless owner drove away.
Our treatment of Animals is a reflection of our SOULS - the extremely cruel & depraved, sadistic, indifferent mistreatment of Dogs is beyond sanity, decency, conscience, mercy, morality - SHUT DOWN this industry - as long as there’s a MARKET for industry, these PSYCHOS will continue their horrific depravity against Greyhounds - SHUT THEM DOWN.
People that use animals in such a heartless inhuman manor and discard them like so much garbage need to be held accountable for the cruel indifference to life. This is nothing short of felony animal abuse and it needs to be dealt with as such. I have been trying for a long time to get the death penalty put on child and animal abuse, it is way over due. These imitation human beings that do these terrible unacceptable cruelties, need to be prosecuted and their victims given the justice they deserve. What is wrong with a society that will stand by and allow helpless innocent creatures, that are guilty of absolutely no crime, to suffer at the hands of cruel rabid human animals? Our politicians that cater to and condone these criminal acts are no better that the abusers themselves. They need to be removed from office, ASAP. Human beings must take a stand to end abuse, where ever or by whom ever it is being perpetuated by. If this planet and all that is upon it is to survive, then things have got to change. Politicians must be held accountable for what they do. If they enable a criminal to do a crime then they must be arrested and prosecuted as accessories to that crime. People ,if you are tired of living the way most all of us are. In disgust, horror, sadness, disheartened shame and all the other terrible things that are dumped on most all of us, then it is time to take a stand and clean up this world. Animals have feelings just like people. They get hungry, thirsty, cold, hot, afraid, they feel pain, they have hearts, lungs, eyes, ears, and so on. they just don't speak the human language, but then neither do we humans speak the animals language. This business is no sport, it is just greed and indifference to another living creature. One that makes money off their suffering. Time to get this kind of garbage gone once and for all, along with the garbage that is passing themselves off as human. These innocent victims have as much right to live as anyone else, in some cases maybe more. These Greyhounds are the same as any other dog. They just want to be loved, taken care of, and to give their loyalty to someone they can call theirs. The horse business is the same. They all need to be shut down and the abusers need to be held accountable!
SHUT DOWN this evil, unconscionably CRUEL Greyhound Industry - FOREVER --- what kind of Society allows for such heinous, sadistic brutality to Animals? --- SHUT DOWN the MONSTERS.
