This was very helpful, we are working on building a website for our small business' and are looking toward Square Space, I do have a question. We are trying to use the member area for our working crew, do we have to charge users for this area or can it be free for them to use to access information that is just for the team?
Super helpful - I have been using anchor links for a while but suddenly had to add a page to a one page website and couldnt for the life of me work out why the nav links didnt work from that new page and you solved my problem so quickly. Thank you so much x
Thank you for the well-explained video. I was able to get it working using the first method. But it only worked one time. Each time I refresh the page it will work once, then it stops working. Any advice on how to fix this problem?
Thank's Sofia, it looks too easy but I am pulling my hair out as I can't access these menus. Frustratingly, I can't get in touch with support from Squarespace either. Can you please tell me .. can i access this feature using a 'Business' plan?
Amazing. Thank you so much! Do you know how to set it up that the link in the navigation is underlined when clicked? So instead of "directory" the "about" is underlined when the visitor jumps to that section on the page?
Hi @giules666 If you have the code set up correctly, the about should be underlined when you jump to the about section on that page. Can you share more details on what you did and what you are seeing so I can better help. Or go back to the steps in the video and see if you missed anything.
I love this! I'm an online fitness coach looking for a platform with a community like this to do group coaching. I wanted to know what's inside personalized assessments. Do you have some ideas to customize this for fitness and nutrition coaching? Thanks!
Inside personalized assessments was my personal feedback on assignments my students completed. An idea for your fitness coaching would be to ask your students to complete an assignment such as tracking their exercise and food intake or a self-assessment on their progress - all of which you can review with your personalize feedback. This is very time intensive ofcourse so do it only if you feel this is feasible or if you have coaches whom you can delegate this too. But the benefit to the students is enormous because they can get a personalized feedback despite being inside a group program. hope this helps, @fitcoachmaryaam!
Update: I just saw inside beehiiv that one can create standalone pages that only premium subscribers can access. This would be the solution for Cristof wanting to have a way for delivering his content to his premium subscribers or those who have upgraded.
Thank you. Your video has given me more confidence. QUESTION: I have existing catagory 'journal' for my blogs. I created the catagory without a drop down list. Now that I want a drop down list, for users to navigate more easily, I can only find videos about creating the catagory and drop down together. Do I have to delete my catagory and reinstate it to form a drop down or is there another way? Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing this - consistency is definitely the theme I notice so often in the most successful people! Joy is one of my business values, so love you highlighting enjoying the experience!!
Hi Sophia. Thanks for your video! I just noticed you referenced a plugin for having multiple filters - please may you share more details with me as I am looking for exactly this!
Hi @breathcards Yes, sure. I used two plugins from Square Websites. If you like to use my referral links to purchase them here they are: sophiaojha.com/universal-filter and www.sophiaojha.com/lazy-summaries One of them creates the filter feature. The other one increases the number of entries from 30 (which is a limit in Squarespace ) to unlimited! Hope this helps.
I used the following code <p id="about"> </p> but unfortunately, it didn't work for me. The 'About' is showing on my navigation bar but when I click on it, i'm not being directed to the section of my landing page that I need. Any recs on how to fix it?
What is the url slug that you put in for the about link in the navigation. it should be the exact id as in the code. So make sure it says #about if the code as you say says "about". Hope this helps. I know this message in rather late but I moved my youtube channel to the biz mode and my comments are delayed as a result. Thanks!
I just got started in this website building hobby and i'm so glad you made this video! Calm, not long winded, informative and honest when you're unsure why it was cut off! Thank you Sophia!
Thank you very much. I have one issue I am encountering, but I have attempted to comment twice already, and my comment keeps getting removed for some reason. Let's see if this one stays up before asking my question.
It can be done using a comments box plugin such as this one: docs.fastcomments.com/guide-installation-squarespace.html Disclaimer: I have not tested it so test it yourself and see firsthand if it's a worthwhile plugin!
I appreciate this video, but I am having trouble with both versions of the solution. The first version, the code box messes up the layout of my pages. The second version simply isn't working. Do you have solutions for these issues?
I can help with the first one: if on 7.1, upgrade the section to fluid engines. Then you can hide the box behind any text block or image block. Layout should then be pico bello. You didn't add any specific details on why the second version is not working, so alas, I have no way of helping you! Post and update and I can see what might be the issue.
This is great! Only issue is the <P text box with code is showing up on the page. I tried hiding it behind images, but then it brings the viewer too far low into the section. Any tips there?
Oh really? Can you double check that the code is correctly written with the exact spacing and punctuation as I show in the video. If that's done, it generally should not show on the page. Let me know. Apologies for the late reply as I was away helping family with a health emergency.
Can you please share more info on what exactly you did, what didn't work. That will help me help you! My reply got deleted when I moved my YT channel to a brand account. So I am posting again for other's benefit even though you wrote a while back.
Also, keep in mind that the code you copy and pasted needs to be error-free. I've often found an extra bracket added or deleted that breaks everything.
@@sophiaojha I discovered through trial and error that I had curly brackets and that wasn't working. It has to be straight brackets <p id="title goes here"></p>
Thank you, Sophia! This was a fantastic video and I can't wait to implement this. I do have a question, after the purchase has been made on my SquareSpace shop, is it possible to send an automated email sequence? Would the customer receive an automated email from ConvertKit?
