Nice video and well explained. I have an XF 2010 and it's a nightmare to plug the door handle cable back into the mechanism. I've had 3 trays and tempted to just buy a full door that has it already fitted. Can't seem to figure it out. How did you do it?
Aye, that's my girl I bought for my 50'th birthday. I'm 69 now and it's showroom with 10k miles. Gorgeous and brutal as you stated. Explosive after 11k rpm. Keeper. 10.004 at 140mph at the 1/4 mile with my son who's 1/2 my weight, lol. I just like starting it and looking at it now. Cheers from the left coast.
Really enjoying your XFR content, Sir- proud owner of a recently purchased 2015 XFR checking in. It was erring towards the higher price bracket of the XFR but it was from a main JLR dealer and only has 35,000mls 👍🏼
@uneducatedromantic4049 best way to buy, I paid over the odds for mine but it has paid off as its clearly been looked after. Do you run it on super unleaded? I do with mine.
Bought an XF-S 3.0 Diesel three years ago for approx 6k, seems like I have missed the great deal for the XFR. Although the fuel cost would destroy me later on.
Really enjoying your XFR content. I'm in the market to buy one. Did you sort the sagging/rippling dashboard issue out yet ? Keen to see a video on that please.
Not yet, I'm having a little breather on spending at the moment! I think it'll take a lot of time and patience to take the dash out, and might be a winter job.
The 140i is easy to chuck the back out and easier to control. The XFR feels like an occasion, once it's rolling it's brutal. They're different types of performance even though on paper they're very similar.
Well saId. I purchased my XFR a month ago and I absolutely love the car. Id like to see the induction kit install if possible. it sounds great on your car!
@@bigmatt2896 yes sir. I did it a couple weeks ago, Absolutely love the supercharger noise now. Im also debating on whether I should do the upgraded pulleys and tune or not. i've really been enjoying it as a daily driver
Fantastic video I purchased a jaguar XFR on a 2015 plate last June I absolutely love it I have had one thing go wrong and that was the battery , I have fitted full leather seats as it came half and half and that’s it, I am currently learning how to use sdd JLR software so I can do some modifications myself but what a car it’s a pleasure to drive I am currently getting 57 mpg it is a 2.2 enjoy your jag mate all the best
I bought my 2014 xfr 2.5 years ago with 55k on it for £28k, it's hands down the best car I've ever had. Why did I buy it? I've had subarus the last 10 years and needed to scratch the V8 itch. An f10 m5 was on the cards however it felt dull in comparison to the xfr. The xfr has so much character. M5 are great cars however what's cooler than daily driving a supercharged V8, it's the uk's own muscle car. Mine has been totally reliable with only regular maintenance needed. It runs out of approved warranty in 6 months so then I will be having it tuned to 600bhp with a remap & smaller pulley on the supercharger. I no longer daily it as I want to keep the miles down on it,it's currently sitting @ 64k. Absolutely 💯 you should experience an xfr. Fantastic cars 💪 💪 💪
Great video. For me personally i like the idea of one and would have the cash to fix niggles like electronic bits or wheel bearings, tyres, brakes etc. But would not have the cash to buy a new supercharger unit or engine if it went, or anything major 'big bills' wise. That's what currently puts me off! Lovely car.
From what I read, the big stuff doesn't go wrong very often at all. There is a risk they will but at a low entry price, you can bang it on eBay and get most back. With depreciation on a new car, you're guaranteed to lose money!
@@turnerscarsUK I agree, and it does seem that not a whole lot of major issues happen but there's always a risk. And never interested in a new car, just want something to tick a lot of boxes for 10k or under and these certainly tick a lot of them off!
How did you adjust the thread? Did you pop the white cap off, and totally remove, then replace? Or did you adjust it while it was in there? Looks very tight.
I'd agree on some of the looks, but some parts I prefer on the first ones. The touch sensitive glovebox and dials are better. From some angles the front lights with bonnet bulge make it look more aggressive. The newer front lights are classier. The big one now is the price jump, earlier cars are a lot cheaper!
Slow tyre pressure leak could be caused by minor corrosion where the tyre seals against the alloy wheel. I had this problem on one of the front wheels of my XFR. My local tyre place took off the tyre, sanded down the corrosion and refitted the tyre - total cost £17 rather than £200 for a new Michelin. Problem solved.
Well I hope you got those issues fixed I have mine for 4 years and all the suspension had to be redone at about 70,000 Miles.. I did buy an extended aftermarket warranty which covered every single thing so remember if you get one of these cars you have to get an extended aftermarket warranty to cover all your parts your suspension your electronics and your engine in your supercharger also the bubbling of the dashboard that's an easy fix go get a heat gun make little holes with a pin. Run the heat gun over the bubbles and press it down with a rag and it goes away.. you should do it every couple of months and also tint your windshield it'll help protect the dash
TPMS warning on my 2011 XK would go off randomly all the time. Stick some air in and it would be fine for a month or so then light up again. Known fault with the batteries once over a certain age I think.
TPMS sensor may have been damaged when the tyre was changed. Common failure on the x250 jaguar. These are about £30 and are in the tyre (it ‘s basically the module attached to the valve). You can try and reset it first to,see if this clears it.
I have the same bike, and colour, mine has 15,500 miles and akrapovic pipes but more or less standard. Absolutely love it and it’s night and day to the zx6r it replaced!!
Hi ...I've got same problem, how many pins did the plug have on the back...I'm sure the one I've ordered is 5 pin but there are 2 different switches so I've heard
Looking into the XFR, still a bit spendy for my budget. Had an S type 4.0 with sunroof for 6 years,50k miles and no rust. Tax is £325. Trouble is the pre facelift S type is great. Geoff Lawson got it spot on for UK roads. Good luck with the project and your channel.
Thank you. I really like the S Type too, but love the XF. I know what to you mean about spendy, my first one was daily driven, 10k a year and depreciation hammered me too. This time round, it's more of an occasional use car, if things go wrong I can take it off the road, and last few months it's been SORN as the roads are so horrible! At the moment, it's cheaper than buying a new Toyota Auris on a PCP!
Nice car. The illuminated sills probably weren't retrofitted from a later model. My SV8 was a year old when I bought it, and it came with them. The XFR hadn't launched at the time. They were in the accessories brochure.
I had the exact same problem - failed the MOT too. At first I was looking at a replacement switch, using the Ford Parts site but the part looks nothing like the switch in the console. So I followed your video, took it apart, found debris between the rubber and the housing, cleaned it up and bingo - like new. Nice one!
I spent a few days in Cairns, loved it there! If you can fix it or know someone to help fix it, do it, I've had no time for content lately, but the XFR is still here and epic!
I want to get my dash fixed also on my XFR. I was quoted 2k for just the leather install. I still have to take it to the shop to have the dash removed and put back in. so $3200.00 here in the states. NOT AN EASY FIX. What year is yours?
I have a 2010 XFR and for the suspension all my bushings were shot on the A arms and links so all had been replaced. world of difference. also check out the trans mount bushing/bracket. another offender.
Jaguar spent millions of quid developing their car to reach the best MPG it could manage with 550BHP. Screw with the exhaust and/or intakes and you'll get worse performance, lousy MPG, and your car will sound like a bag of nails. Before you screw around with anything MAFF related, have you changed the plugs, checked the HT leads and had a full service including air filters etc. and run a proper diagnostic check? Turbochargers are more efficient than superchargers because they use the wasted energy from the engines exhaust cycle to drive a compressor. The extra performance is largely free. Superchargers are mechanically driven from the engine so use energy directly from the engine to drive themselves. The instant response is a consequence of burning fuel to drive the compressor ergo, higher fuel consumption. I really don't get the obsession of people wanting to hear a loud exhaust note inside a luxury car. It just doesn't make sense other than narcissistic compulsion. Apart from anything else it's a red flag to plod that a car has been modified, which invariably invalidates the insurance, and they get a gold star for nicking someone who is happy to advertise they are really dumb. Your car looks like it's been in a minor shunt and badly repaired/resprayed by someone with a paint can. It also looks like your car has tracking/wheel balancing/alignment problems probably influenced by crumbling rubber bushes. Nobody mentions this but the first things to cause trouble on older cars are the electrics, swiftly followed by rubber components. A well cared for engine will run forever but rubber bushes/hoses etc. deteriorate badly and are invariably ignored. Most electrical problems can be solved with a new battery and alternator. No point in doing one or the other, change both of them, as well as any (surprise surprise) rubber belt drives. I have worked on cars and bikes for the last 50 years, modding them in the early days when insurance companies didn't care, and the two biggest problems of all are lousy batteries and alternators, and rubber components of all description. The difference is, a car dies temporarily from electrical problems, it dies permanently with rubber problems. If an alternator dies at 70MPH the car slowly grinds to a halt. If a rubber coolant hose or worse, oil hose, ruptures at 70MPH the engine grenades itself. There is no such thing as a cheap performance car.
I was looking at buying a new facelifted XFR back in 2013. I decided to browse some Jaguar forums and every poster had Stockholm syndrome with regards to the car. People would talk about trim pieces falling off and electronics not working but it was a "small price to pay for the privilege of driving a Jaguar" (literally the words of one poster). I expressed my hesitation of spending $80K+ on a car only to have parts start falling off and electronics start failing after driving it off the dealer's lot. I was told that if things like that bothered me then "Jaguar ownership wasn't for me" and that I "should buy a Lexus".
I had one in 2015 for two years, and while this one has issues, for a 13 year old car with 100k miles it's not unexpected, especially when I paid so little for it.
I got over excited ordering the handles! What I should have done is strip the door card and inspect. It does seem odd it's both doors, actuators would make more sense.
@@turnerscarsUK these are notorious on JLR. They are fairly cheap and can yes the door card will have to come off. Couple of screws/torx and a lot of busted knuckles. Also look up crystal clear mechanics - jaguar xf door actuator. He goes through step by step guide on how to change them.
